Museum in Motion at the Shore Line Trolley Museum (Part 2)
On Saturday, June 22, 2024, the Shore Line Trolley Museum held their annual Museum in Motion event to start their summer season. The event featured morning and afternoon parades of 21 different pieces of equipment from the Museum's collection, many of which are not normally seen in operation. This video shows the equipment returning to the yard following the afternoon parade, and includes:

NYNJ Rail R32 Scrap Train in Brooklyn - 6/11/2024

On June 11, 2024, a string of 10 R32 subway cars from the New York City Transit Authority were taken off the property for scrapping. The cars were hauled down 1st Avenue in Brooklyn by NYNJ Rail, using NYNJ Rail SE10B no. 5101 and Knoxville Locomotive Works leaser TE-47-4E no. 253. The cars taken for scrapping were: 3736, 3737, 3714, 3715, 3912, 3913, 3655, 3654, 3448, and 3449.

    I think all of the trolleys will eventually come back, but this is certainly a start and SEPTA did great restoring these!

      I've heard from reputable sources that 8 are currently operational and SEPTA still plans to finish overhauling the other 10. At some point the service should be entirely PCCs again!

    [2:01] "VALLEY" Interlocking: LIRR's Far Rockaway, West Hempstead and Long Beach Branches merge west at Valley Stream Station. LIRR's Montauk Branch skim pass these branches east at Valley Stream.

      Though you are correct that the station visible in the video is Belmont Station, the video was taken from Wellington Station (technically just outside).

      They're uncommon on the Q nowadays. Most of them were swapped to the F, G, and R services a few years ago in anticipation of the activation of CBTC on the Queens Blvd Line.

    Great video and shows just how far the DLR has been extended since I first saw it back in the 90s. It has truly brought that area back to life and a great innovation. I found the background chatter a bit intrusive, but nevertheless a great video (especially on a tv).

    Thanks for posting. I lived near the Culver 'F' Line and remember when the R-1/9s were in use, up until about 1972-73. Prior to 11/1967 the Culver 'D' Line was all R-1/9s.

    I was in Miami last month and rode on the metromover. Only thing I didn't like about it is that it's notorious for breaking down and sometimes, you have to wait like forever for the doors to close.

      Pretty much the metromover has shown it’s age through the years and I remember when this used to be a little faster even when they used to have the older cars. But I heard they’re getting some refurbishments to This system and possibly extending it.

      I missed out on the opportunity to ride the metromover during my trip in miami 😕 i was right near the station with the basketball courts. Anything beats Boston's train system. Don't come up here expecting a short commute. Rail work won't be done until the end of 2025. Shuttle buses replacing every train line for weeks on end....best not get carried away. I miss visiting miami Brickell is beautiful 🥲

      It used to be MLK Blvd; it has been pointed out to me that many of the station names I used in these videos are outdated. The system map on Wikipedia, which I referenced for these videos, is definitely out of date.

    Actually, the first stop out of Hoboken is called simply Newport. It hasn't been called Pavonia-Newport for a few years now. This is because Pavonia Avenue no longer exists as such within the Newport development; the street was renamed Town Square Place a number of years ago. Also, the stop before Exchange Place is referred to as simply Harborside, although of course it serves the Harborside Financial Center. However, the onboard announcements still call both stations by their old names.

    The Urban Mass Transit Administration in the 1970s Awarded 3 US Cities to develop People Mover systems which went to Detroit, Jacksonville and Miami. Out of the three only Miami was able to make it a success by tying it into the city's Metrorail system. The view from the front is fantastic!

      It is a pretty nice ride, and you're right it really only makes sense as a local distributor for the Metrorail. Jacksonville and Detroit could potentially increase ridership by putting parking garages near the stations, incentivizing people to drive in and take the people mover around downtown. I did hear that Jacksonville's system is going to be closing soon though...

      Well the original intention was for it to operate as a local the entire way from Chambers St to 137th St, but due to the crowds on the first day it was changed to run express on the local track so that it wouldn't delay actual 1 trains.

      @@robotx9285 No, because it needed to be on the local track at Chambers St to go to South Ferry to turn, and needed to be on the local track at 96th St to continue up Broadway. Any switching would've just interfered with 2/3 service.

    I know that the WTC station is the most important on the PATH system, but it's by far my least favorite. I just can't stand that place. It once took me over 20 minutes just to find the Greenwich Street exit, and I ended up in the same place four times. I try to avoid the place whenever I can.

      I agree that it's unreasonably hard to navigate, unless you're transferring from the Subway to the PATH. I've had to use the Apple store to exit to Greenwich St from PATH!

    These PCCs are still going strong. But once the Green Line's Type 10s arrive, they plan to transfer the Type 9s to the Mattapan Trolley.

      That's interesting... The MBTA recently refurbished one of the PCCs, so I would be curious what the future plan is for them.

      ​@@mvcrailphotos the refurbishment is supposed to keep them in service for another 7-8 years. My guess is that the refurbished ones will stay for a bit longer than the ones not refurbished.

    Only the BU cars can run on IRT with the R10/R16 Irt version these are the R12/R17 trains which is the TOMM Train of many colors. BU Cars when running on IRT museum train service these must end at the last elevated station before a tunnel section
