The Wheel of Time has a lot of flaws, it could have benefited from an editor that is not the author's wife but I just love it to bits. Rand and Nynaeve are my favorites, they grow and change so much over the course of the series. I was a Nynaeve fan even when she was getting on everyone's nerves. I would look closely at the friendships in those books instead of the love interests because the friendship between those five villagers and the others are really well done. Each of the characters have relationships with each of the others and they are all different and nuanced and really beautiful. I also view the ladies biting the men's heads off as a cultural thing. This world is a matriarchy, the women are in charge and they are used to behave a certain way with nobody challenging them. It does evolve also over the course of the series. For all it's flaws, this series is worth sticking with in my opinion, even through the slog!

If it was Jordan, not Sanderson, who did the last three books in The Wheel Of Time series. Would you bother even finishing it? I can wholeheartedly tell you I would've DNF the series. The three Sanderson books were soooooo good. And I remember at the time people were hesitant to get back into the series because Jordon had gone so far off the tracks by the time he passed. Sanderson was still fairly new when he took over so no one knew what to expect. As soon as the word got out that Sanderson was bringing the story back into focus and started tying up the loose ends and answering the mysteries...people got the book in droves.

Sylvia, I just read a historical fiction book that has the same tone as The Blacktongue Thief, the author narrates it himself too! Glorious Exploits by Ferdia Lennon, 5 Stars! Whimsical & crude, funny & moving!!

Аз се опитвах да го оправдавам половинчато пред себе си с това, че повечето герои върху които пада фокусът са основно тинейджъри и такава е културата на времето, но това помага само донякъде. Поредицата има доста слабости, но въпреки това си струва. Все пак, не бих се учудил ако негативите при вас вземат превес и не я довършите.

August was definitely a slump! I finished a book I had been dragging for a while, I finished two others but didn't really like them and lastly, I DNF a heinous book. Also I think I'm getting into a romance slump, bad luck for my favorite genre. On a brighter side, I also started a new job on August. Best of lucks✨

August seems to have come for all the readers. I know I was in a brutal slump. Hope the new job is going well.

I'm glad you are continuing with Wheel of Time. 100%, the romances were easily the worst part of the series - both in believability and in torturous dialogue... Fun video!

Alright, alright......so many mentions of Jane, I'm rereading it in October 😂 (and so very happy about it 🥰) It is interesting, I've never really disliked their age gap - perhaps because Jane had to take care of herself for so long and seemed so independent already at 18 that she felt much more mature...... an uncomfortable age gap irritated me a little bit in Emma so I understand the point, though 🙂 Anyway, 4 books are wonderful result in such month 🤩 I'm sending you all the great energy vibes for the new beginning at work 🏋‍♀ And I cannot forget: Happy fall 😃 🍂🍂🍂

you perfectly nailed my problems with the wheel of time series! The plot is great but I hate practically every relationship a female character has with anyone else, be it with the men around them or even with other women because they also always seem to complain about or argue with each other

I didn't love Jane Eyre when i read it. Some parts of it i found interesting, but others i found very boring and tedious to get through. Rochester gave me the ick and really disliked the sudden supernatural element that brought them back together at the end that seemed to come out of nowhere. Granted, i was also 16 when i read it, so maybe if i reread it now, i would be more patient with some things, but i don't think it could ever become a favorite

Your thoughts on Shadow Rising 😂😂😂 I’m equally getting frustrated. I’m almost at the 50% part and we’ve finally moved away from the romance and deeper into the lore! I agree though that depending on my thoughts at the end of this book, I stop reading the series lol

You ended up reading the Hugo award winner with Some Desperate Glory - I haven't read it, but some friends that have have also not particularly enjoyed it.

I read 1984 in college, and it changed the way I look at things. It's very insightful. The ending also had me in tears when I first read it. I love it so much, so it's a top read for me as well, and I'm actually due for a reread. And I agree with your thoughts concerning the Mark Twain collection. You have to overlook the language and consider the time period and setting that it was written in. I think some readers tend to miss that part because they're so used to the language and ideology of the present time, so maturity is definitely needed when reading stories like that. If anything, I like when stories reflect real life, past or present. That makes everything so much more believable, which is what great fiction is all about, making you believe that this could have happened in real life. Love these tier ranking videos! It's great to see all of your different tastes. Very eclectic! 💫

I am currently slogging my way through the 9th book of WoT. WoT is giving me major whiplash. The books are filled with infuriating main characters not doing too much with epic events sprinkled in. Lord of Choas has been the highlight for me, and since then, it has gotten so slow with the most frustrating characters as the main povs for the majority of the last 2 books. Then, when I want to throw the book out of the window into the river, something truly epic happens that catches my interest once again. I feel my thoughts on the series are a rollercoaster as well. I think if this series was edited to take out most of the boring parts that are not necessary to the story, then this series would be more unanimously loved by people who picked it up. The characters might be more likable as well. For me, I still think the series is worth it, but I also understand if you don't want to continue.

The only Stephen King I have on my physical tbr right now is The Eyes of the Dragon. It's a 1987 publication and young adult. Have you read it. I keep putting other books ahead of it, even though ...dragons!!

I'm afraid Wheel of Time is not getting better from there. Lord of Chaos was actually a good book, but otherwise I struggled immensily with the topics that you felt frustraited about with the fourth book. I'm now on book 12 and I can see the effect of Sanderson on the characters and they are so much better now. But it has been a frustraiting journey for me to get this far.

Quick turnaround on this vlog. I need these to be longer so that I can hang out longer, parasocially speaking.

I just realised that Nobody's Boy is Sans Famille! I grew up with that story. Such a heartwrenching one but beautiful. Don't get me started on the dogs! There was a Japanese animated series when I was a young kid and it was so good. Good memories!

Sylvia, Buehlman, Gywnne & Abercrombie are my favorite authors! If you loved Blacktongue you should read the Daughter’s War, Between Two Fires & The Lesser Dead. Some other books I highly recommend, Boudica Dreaming the Eagle by Manda Scott & Daughter of the Empire by Feist & Wurts which should be read as a stand-alone. Also The Lions of Al- Rassan by GGK & The Warlord Chronicles by Bernard Cornwall!!

This tier ranking provided so much more depth to the reviews - I loved the whole list and get to know your relation to the books 💘 Also, it's a little bit funny not to agree on certain final classifications and placements (I might have checked my own database a few times that all is still alright in that place 🤣) but that's the beauty of it all :)...........e.g. I still can't get over the Hunger games series ranking even though I see your point 😂😂😂 though I have to admit that, as a teenager, I loved only the first two books because of the politics in the third one, but nowadays, I love the third book the most also because of the politics ☺😀 Hope you had found some fun in making the video for us, too, and wish you so many more books for the S tier ;) :)

I have to disagree on 1984. I wasn't able to get into that one and DNFd it, so I personally think it belongs a tier lower in you have to be realistic. Of course, I didn't finish it, so maybe it is objectively good, and I am just missing out. Either way, I loved seeing your thoughts on your 5 star reads.

Perfect spots for Legends in Exile and Emma! 🌟 I don't know if someone has already suggested this (and I would be surprised if no one has), but have you thought about doing a video ranking all of the Harry Potter or A Song of Ice and Fire books? It would be nice to hear your thoughts, since you love those two series so much. But only if you wanted to, though. No pressure! I could never really get into The Hunger Games trilogy, surprisingly. I only enjoyed the first book, and I always thought it would be better as a standalone rather than as a series. Is that crazy of me? 🤔 I've also been meaning to read The Call of the Wild. Jack London books. I read those when I was in middle school (around age 14) and fell in love! When I was a kid, I would read all sorts of books about animals and adventures like that one. I need a re read soon

You might not think Hobbs sticks the landing until you read Ship of Magic!! Liveship is better than Farseer. The Shadow Rising is when WOT really takes off! Out of the 14 books, it is one of the best!
