I tamed a max level male as my first one. These things are insane. They are really good fighters and they can easily destroy rock elementals and do reduced damage to your tamed deathworm and it takes no fall damage! For anyone who is gonna take one. You don't need drums. You just get a thyla and find the one you want and get it's attention and lure it to the trap. And if you quickly feed the deathworm, only like 1 or 2 will appear. That doesn't depend on level, you just gotta be quick. I never used drums so it's easier. And bug repellent isn't needed or required to tame one either.
