I have a small pleater that I inherited from my mother's sewing aids. This is just an awesome video and thanks very much for sharing this. I loved it.

With this anazing tool, I might actually start doing something other than cartridge pleats! I'm absolutely loving the alternate pleating boards too. Pleats have always intimidated me, especially on thin and finnicky fabric they're a nightmare. But you made pleating that slippery fabric look like child's play with that pleating board! This is definitely going into my sewing arsenal. I may even make several boards for all occasions.

I hand washed a beautiful pleated Liberty wool skirt and tried to iron pleats back painstakingly, but it was not consistent. Now I kno how to fix this myself. Thank u so much!🙏🏻👍

what a lovely and succinct tutorial. I'm working on a 1906(ish!) skirt right now and couldn't find any guides for adding completely finished pockets after the fact, which was horrible as my pockets were french seamed! the basting before you sew is a wonderful idea as I was very nervous about getting the placement exactly right. I'll still be doing that last line of sewing by hand, though, just in case......♡♡

Wow, this is incredible. I had no idea how pleats were made. When I was a kid, my mom used to make our clothes and sometimes she would go to a specialty shop to get the fabrics pleated for her projects. I always thought it was rocket science, until I watched your video. Thank you so much for solving the mystery for me. It's really surprising how easy it is to make pleats for garments. I wonder if you could kindly do a video on how to make Sunray pleats for a circle skirt made up of two semi circles. Many thanks in advance.

I try and very carefully strop the circular cutter blade on a piece of leather with polishing compound until the beveled edge has a mirror polish

Recently I am making detailed doll clothing and the hidden closure on some dresses and finding antique fabric is making me crazy

I started out wantint to be a dress designer and I worked hard, my grandmother from the turn of the century showed me a lot, junior high and high school I learned a bit more, but then when I got to L.A. companies would hire me but before I knew it I was the sample model or some other thing. I don't think I was ever The Designer but more of a copy artist anyway. I have worked as an asistant to a designer. I come from Ohio and going to L.A. and stretching myself---but no one ever showed me a pleating board. I SIMPLY LOVE YOUR CHANNEL!!!

I had a tutorial on Ruching , which I thought I saved to the computer but now? Can't find it. Also, now I wonder what I was looking at. They made a grid and picked a stitch to a corner on a diagnal, It was complicated but I loved the effect. They did every other square.

What if you're trying to pleat silk fabric and the pleats come out? What is a stitching method that you can use to make sure they stay down?

I would love to see resources on how to make other styles of pleating boards! This was exactly what I was looking for thank you! 😊

It turned out AMAZING!!!!! I would have never thought to use an airbrush to recreate the pattern on the skirt, or would have guessed that the airbrush was a Victorian invention! SO COOL!

I use kitchen twine for piping. It’s thin enough and made from cotton

I almost always machine sew the seams that are not visible from the outside and flat fell by hand. I reason that medieval people would have used a machine too if they had the option 😂
