Speaking of the environment, extremely high level of toxicity of NZ rivers across the country, especially South Island. On top of it, very low quality of the medical care system with worrying level of incompetence.

You do not sound Kiwi at all. Your accent, plus, you mentioned High school dropout?? You are NOT kiwi born. No wonder people hate your content.

This might be true of Auckaland and perhaps Christchurch but for the rest of the country this is not really true. I was born here and am 45 years old. The crime rate is higher now than in the 80's and 90's but unless you seek out trouble or are involved in drugs you do not really see it.

Bullying is a terrible problem in New Zealand. Even when I returned on a holiday with my kids, my son was bullied in public playgrounds by kids that have never met him or seen him before! We've traveled together in Asia, Eastern Europe, some countries that are always portrayed as dangerous and criminal (Bosnia, Serbia, Albania etc) and never experienced something like that elsewhere. And yes, tall-poppy syndrome is a huge issue and it's really sad that we still didn't manage to get past it.

As a kiwi it has some great things Good- scenery lots of hiking spots near where you are or a scenic location close by. Good for outdoors, safe in lots of parts, good quality of life such as good produce and good for a quiet life for having a family. Decent work life balance compared to some countries and good for running a business. Mixed stuff - Isolation it's good if you want to be away from other parts but if you want to travel it's very far People while they are friendly in general overall good to talk to in shops etc and on the surface they are hard to get to know they feel like they don't really want to know you. Lot of friends I've made over the past few years are foreigners. Feel like some kiwis are hard to make conservation with. They only interested in what's around them. Bad - Youth Suicide one of the worst in the world due to it's isolation, tall poppy syndrome and you feel if you're not in the crowd or play rugby you get bullied. Scared to get on the wrong side of someone and feel like you have to be stuck in a small crowd environment so you have to try and be friendly with who you can be with. High costs due to be far away from lots of parts of the world such as consumer goods and high house prices and lack of infrastructure on decent roads in parts as well as terrible public transport and to do anything you need a car.

Absolutely well said brother. Very much to the point. NZ is one of the most unsafe places in the world to drive a car or to cross the road. Drivers here are super idiots especially the female drivers. NZ police is awesone though.

Bullying sucks big time, my children got bullied but I taught them how to deal with it self defence, mau taiaha te Arawa kaupapa, worked AWESOME but in doing what I did for my son i I created another problem, my son became became the next and nasty bully so i had to reverse what I showed him and created the red chair at his school, he sat on that chair for 4months every play and lunch time.....

And you are what, from where, still better than most places around the world, been here all my 57years and plan on going nowhere else but here....

Been living in Australia for 16 years after moving from New Zealand. Australia is great for visiting for a holiday, but in 16 years I couldn't build a house or a business. Everything is expensive and made impossible. The health system is poor. Doctors are very unskilled and don't acknowledge your health issues. The only differences are there's a lot of career options, universities and a luxurious lifestyle due to availability of resources. The wages are never enough for the Australian lifestyle. The bills are high for everything, and the road rules are insane. They keep fining people by making too many unnecessary road rules. Hence, I have decided to leave this country for good and build a business in my homeland in Asia. I feel like I have wasted 16 years of my life for nothing. The government is as slack as New Zealand. Nobody helps you in time of need, but you pay so much tax. The law system acts blind when you're in danger. There are druggies everywhere. You can't even feel safe outside anymore. You never know who attacks you. It's best to move away from English speaking nations and Europe. You don't wanna be a government slave, because that's what these countries want. They want modern slavery, and they'd do anything to manipulate you through processed food and water. You wanna be able to build a business, or else you won't survive anywhere in this world. You'll get sick of being a corporate slave. They force you to get yearly vaxed at your workplace here in Australia. People seem very off these days.

Thanks for mentioning these points. I grew up in New Zealand. I was brutally bullied the entire time I lived in New Zealand. Avoid Southeast Asians, they're some of the most toxic races who bully you for no reason. They literally gang up on vulnerable individuals just for some entertainment. I was very naive and innocent when I was in school.

So the "dark" side of New Zealand is what happens in all the rest of the world, but in the rest of the world it's about a billion times worse + a plethora of other problems that basically doesn't exist in New Zealand. Got it. 👍 It's of course good to be honest, but you should try living in some other countries, or just visiting them, that will give you a reality check.

As a South African with a Good profession (health care ) we have been actively approached by NZ recruitment agencies to come over. And I'm pretty sure it's more safe than south africa. Theft isn't as major as it is here. Here we deal with murder rate.. so I'm definitely thinking of emigrating . So I'm taking this with a pinch of salt. I'm pretty sure it's better than south africa.
