I'd kill to have some other simulation then DCS to use this as an overkill approach to.

...use DCS and buy the "special, lightweight, packaged for deployment Hardware" for some US$ 49,950.00, as it is basically all about the haptics, muscle memory and physical interaction with the real aircraft's hardware as you can see with the thumb controller training... It's like saying: "I don't need an expensive car to learn for a driver's license, a good racing simulation and a Gamepad is much cheaper." 🤣

@@shagrat47 I fly helicopters IRL... I was a tank gunner in the Army. I can say from 1st hand experience, flying in VR ON MY CHEAP THRUSTMASTER set-up is WAY more realistic and FEELS more like the real thing than the expensive Fly It simulator that costs hundreds of thousands of dollars. BTW, The US AirForce has went to using DCS and VR to train their pilots... So... Yeah

@@cejay2411 Airforce? The Air National Guard, sure. Not the same thing. DCS modules are at best only good for some switchology stuff and even that is limited. Forget it for any actual flight or sensor systems training, not even remotely close enough correlated.

I have had WAY to many pilots say although you cannot "feel" the aircraft in DCS like the Sims the military has, but the feel and graphics blow it out of the water. Everyone appears to be missing the point though... The point is private companies charge the US government WAY to much for simulators from 3rd party venders... Even though their is typically a bidding process, but the government is basically willing to pay anything these venders want... In slot of cases, these sim components cost WAY MORE than the real components in the actual aircraft... Before I started flying helicopters in real life, I had been flying the Uh1 in DCS for about a year. On my VERY FIRST hour in the actual aircraft, I could pick it up and hold a hover. I'm not even exaggerating... Within maybe 5-10 minutes, I had it down. My CFI thought I was ribbing him when I said it was the first time in a real helicopter. Now, that being said, he had me trying auto rotations prior to the 5th hour and THAT didn't go very well. At the bottom I had full left pedal and when the CFI throttled up, the tail swung 90° hard right in like .5 seconds less than 10 ft off the ground... There is not a Simulator on the planet that makes up for actual stick time... Sims are great to supplement training, and the ridiculous prices we (tax payers) pay for the 3rd party military sims is ridiculous. For a fact, if you have the proper controls and said proper controls are calibrated correctly, and you fly in VR, it damn near handles (flight characteristics) 1.1 scale to it's real life counter part... Lastly, again, we can just agree to disagree. My point was to illustrate how much we get ripped off by these companies and don't expect any of them to make affordable components on the consumer market. Why would they if they get legit up 1,000x more money selling to the government...

@@cejay2411 Developing an accurate sim begins at 15,000 USD for anything, be it a car or plane. Military aircraft will easily be 10* that and still be very reasonably priced, if even CHEAP if they include hardware. I don't know why you expect the controllers + entire sim to be somehow as cheap as consumer hardware + an inaccurate consumer model.

I don't know what switches these people are using in their TEDAC, but as a mental exercise I started to add up the cost of all the switches - assuming they used aerospace spec ones - I got to 8000 USD and then gave up because I was getting bored :))) The DCS community whine if they have to pay more than 100 USD for anything, so I can't really see a way to sell this thing to them....

@@colderwar My VR Sim pit flight controls cost almost $6,000... That's JUST the controls. If anyone things they are going to get decent controls or components for less than 1k, they are out their mind.

I wrote them a email last week but never got a response so far.

I'm in the middle myself now of completing one that uses lots of off the shelf components such as leo bodnar switches, boards and 8" lcd panel, backlit keys and positional rotary switches.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 if you're looking for a tedac for the apache go with komodo Simulations. They are expensive but it looks realistic.
