I know I'm like 4 years late to this video, but here in 2024 this tip still works for newer laptops like mine. This has drastically dropped my CPU temps without literally any loss in fps for me. Thanks it's day and night! But you should change the tittle it work with any gpu, i'm on rtx4050 and now my hands dont sweat due to insane heat. There's another setting in edit power settings that help alot too (at least for asus tuf) that settings is to avoid cpu to top 100% Go to power options and select high performance then go to advanced settings...search for maximum processor state and make it 99.

Thank you so much, man. Can confirm this still works in 2024 on a 2 year old legion 7 gen 6. I thought I was going to need to replace my thermal paste because I was getting over 100 CPU, thermal throttling on my games, and lagging like crazy unless I had my fans set to turbo mode. After this fix, I was able to keep same good performance on my games, but now my cpu was only at 86-90. No more lag spikes and turbo fans. Thanks again, man.

4 years after uploading, you still helped me fix this issue when nothing else did! What an absolute lifesaver! Finally I'm no longer running at 80+ degrees while browsing chrome with my fans going crazy. I've dropped from 80-90 degrees to 50-60 with this simple change. Running my 5800H at cozey base 3.2 GHz instead of the previously pinned max of 4.2-4.4 GHz.

You said if you editing something you put the boost back. Is there a lower quality of rendering or something if I disable the boost?

Hi what about that Is humming noise is a normal? I'm assuming that's the engine. In any other car, I would assume that to be A drive shaft Issue. If your you joined or coupler are bad sometimes drive shops will hum with acceleration.

I usually don't mess with my computers files or any of the internal things I don't understand. I was hitting around 90C to 93C in a game I love with mods. I was told this was completely normal but it didn't make me feel good about my laptop's life span. So I spent all day looking at undervolting and other things like that. Almost gave up until I found this vid on a AMD forums page. Followed everything step by step and now I can play even more demanding mods and games with my temp maxing out around 82C. Thank you for this and brightening my day, even if it was a video from 3 years ago.

i still have on far cry with high settings 88-93 CPU temperature. I Did everything u did on the video, cpu with battery was 80-88 Temperature and now 49-59 so with no games it is lower

Tbh the problem isnt the cpu overheating its the shitty laptops you guys spend $ on . Most laptop manufacturers put shit cooling solutions in their gaming laptops and u guys basically have to nerf the laptops you spend 1k+ $ to make it perform similar to a 500$ laptop cause the temps are ridiculous . While i do agree that disabling cpu boost does lower temps considerably , this basically means you guys are only using 50% of the performance from the product you bought with top $. Im using a lenovo legion 5 with a ryzen 7 4800H and max temps on this machine are 79-80c during verry intensive load . So i dont need to disable turbo boost cause the manufacturer of this laptop didnt shit on me as a customer and placed a proper and efficient cooling solution . So next time you guys buy a laptop dont just fan boy on a certain brand , research first cause aside from cpu and gpu , you guys need to also carre about the cooling solution the laptop you intent to buy has. No point in buying an i9 cpu if i can only use it as an i5 cause of overheating xDD .

man this is great tips, i use it on my laptop which has I5-11400H and it works magnificently, going to 51C from 68C during idle.

I did this and my fan is still going crazy. My machine isnt even hot. And yes, I cycle through all performance seetings, and that still doesnt make a difference.
