Intrepid Brewing co x Eighteen Bikes HD

For their eighteenth gyle (batch), Intrepid Brewing co teamed up with local bike shop Eighteen to create a special recipe named "Midland Red", a thirst quenching nutty brown bitter, to enjoy after a ride in the stunning Peak District countryside. The formal name for this style of beer is an American Amber. Unlike the Irish Red beer which is quite mellow, the American Red can be thought of as a ...

I'm a Belgian mountain biker. In 2016, I went to the Peak District for a week of mountain biking. From the first day, I heard a suspicious noise in the suspension of my Santa Cruz Tallboy. I stopped at "18 Bikes". The mechanic looked at my bike, thought it was coming from the bearings and told me to come back in two hours. I went to have lunch at the pub next door and two hours later my bike was in order. The asking price was quite right. I would like to thank again the friendly team of "18 bikes" who took the time to take care of my bike despite their workload. Happy birthday "18 Bikes". Eric
Finally
Are the two spacers the same size & dimensions?
Excellent job showing the lock thing install and un-install. Thanks. A life saver.
Very helpful, thank you!
Bleed front brake maybe 10 times but always have dirty oil can watch it coming up if keep pumping it I’ve had calliper off pistons out cleaned it out with brake cleaner new seals just carnt seem to find what ever is in there
These don’t work. When I tension the crank bolt on my SRAM Red GXP crank it over tensions the bearings and it won’t spin freely. Am I missing something?
Thank you hope
ребята, можно ли установить мотоциклетные тормоза на велосипед?
My new tech 3 V4 brake arrived with one of the pistons sticking out and I can't get it back in and have damaged piston trying to put it back , how would I go about replacing damaged piston and how can I get it pushed back ? Will loosening the bore cap help to getting it back in ?
I first watched this video 2 bikes, 3 years, and over 70,000 km ago when I purchased my Hope BB, hoping (see what I did there) I hadn't wasted £80 (stupid money for a BB at the time), and wondering if I should have gone even more stupid and got a Chris King BB like my cycling buddy. Watching again today because I need to replace the bearings for the first time. They go for £100+ now, but I don't think its so stupid anymore.
Thanks. Very helpful 👍🏼
I've had my Hope Pro II front and rear hubs for 17 years now, and still going strong.
Cool video! My bro just gave me a pair of these to bleed but I need to know the inner diameter of the wast tube for the caliper bleed nipple? I somebody out there that knows could tell me that would be sick!
Love it!
Banging cheers for publishing your tutorial. Was a great help. I'm going to keep doing the bleed procedure until clean fresh oil comes out of the waste pipe. As brake fluid is hydroscopic I want to replace and get maximum compression from the fluid. Just like with a car. Peace ✌️
useful video , does anyone know the name of the tool used inside the cup to knock the bearing out 4:29 please
i agree with laura, thanks!
Wow amazing...😁
Street and park rider here, 2022 my Hope Pro II (exact same model and colour) still going strong. Bullet proof engineering!
If i do it with the back wheel still on do i need to change the position of the pads , should they be on the rim or just normal
Amazing man thanks for this that split ring had me stumped but not anymore! Cheers
Yhanks for the vid amazing 👍
Anyone have the part number of the bearing removal tool Nick is using at 4:19 in the video? I don't now why, but I'm having a hard time finding it. Can't locate it on Hope's website, and I have scoured sellers to no luck. Thanx
Hi ive bought both the conversion kit and ahope bb. Ive gone through 10 DHB BB in 4years im running a x1 12 eagle. Will this still work ok? ( Orbea rallon m10 2018 ) Thanks 👊🏻
I also always used screwdrivers for jobs like this, but countless times thought there's gotta be some better way. Looks like you have a lot of experience with these hubs and still you almost stabbed yourself in the finger with the screwdriver. I've heard someone say that "Knipex 45 10 170 Special Retaining Ring Pliers" works for this job, maybe I'll get one (got a lot of Knipex stuff already)
11 years later and you're still helpful! I was dorking around with that snap ring and not sure I was on the right track.. I was right but my screw drivers were too fat, and it just seemed like I was making it too hard. Thank you ever so much!
May i ask you something ? Can i fit any tooth procket to my shimano 7speed internal gear hub or do it need to have certain number of tooth ?
Proper Yorkshire, less is more 😁
That was bob on! My discs now spinning free smack in the middle. Wish I'd seen that 11 yes ago😁😁 hope mini minis
Mine just spins & wont tighten
He did say open to a point where it feels tight
Why wouldn't you just use circlip pliers
It has no holes in the snap ring for the pliers. It's not a circlip much to my frustration. ]
@@lthomas987 Knipex 45 10 170 Special Retaining Ring Pliers is for rings like this one According to one amazon.de review, it works for Shimano Nexus snap ring...
I have to be fair, square taper bb is underrated these days. In my eyes they still hold the default crown!
Where do I place the 6pack battery and where to thread cable
DON’T GO BRAYING AT IT!
Love it
Pass!! Hope needs to make a proper GXP bb.
How do you remove the adapters if you want to service the bearings?
⭐Thank you, this is the first time I've installed one of these... Your video was very helpful... Cheers..!
Word to the wise just use a star nut.
Very simple and well presented step by step how-to video. Cheers
So if the brakes are new and all that is needed is to shorten the brake hose, do you still have to bleed after? They come pre-bled.
Some air will get in. I just did one of my brakes and it seems to be working without bleeding, but it's brakes and therefore very safety critical. So don't take chances :)
Vpp is just a glorified monopivot
Can you also "re-use" the parts on the other side of the hose when you want to replace the entire hose? Or just at the lever side...?
A simple and extremely useful video. Good job
What cleaner would you recommend for degreaseing the bb or do you just use paper towels
To be honest, I just use a paper towel that I've lightly sprayed with some isopropyl alcohol if it's quite dirty and gritty down there, but just use paper towels on there own if they'll do the job dry. I was taught to not spray degreaser around if there's a chance it could get into the grease in the bearings. But I live not far from where Hope components are made and it's frequently a very wet and muddy place to ride.
It's now 2018 and this video has helped me. I could not see how to get the sprocket off for the life of me. My eyes aren't what they used to be!!! Cheers mate.
Great video.....but what if i change my chainring to a bigger one and my rear sprocket to a smaller one will that make me go faster?
You could be faster than what you have now but it would also be harder to climb hills. Think of a standard transmission & trying to climb hills in 4th. gear instead of 3rd. 4th is faster but 3rd. gear will climb easier.
at 1:18 that finger almost got seriously hurt by the screwdriver the usual way : pushing a sharp tool towards you
Proper Yorkshire int it
Am I the only cursing the engineer at Hope who choose to use that design of pad safety pin??? I need to watch CZcams videos to figure out how to install that dawn pin. Shimano pad safety pin is so easy of use...
