The SECRET that is slightly over a 100 years old is --- in order too increase egg production in chickens the ROOSTERS are selected from the highest producing HENS , the egg increase gene is passed from hen to male off spring, , I have a POLISH AND A SULTAN THAT HAVE CONSTANTLY LAYED AT LEAST 6 EGGS A WEEK EACH , THEY BEAT OUT SEVERAL R.I.R. , ROCKS ,AMERAUCANA ONLY A BLACK STAR BEATS THEM , THESE ARE LARGE NUMBERS FROM CHICKENS THAT USUALLY LAY MUCH FEWER EGGS ,IHAVE BREED THEM FOR MY NEXT ROOSTERS TOO COME FROM THESE HIGH PRODUCING ORNAMENTAL BIRDS .❤❤❤
Wow, that is great information!! I love you are doing that. Thank you for sharing, wise info for sure!
White sillies were notorious for their aggression the record holder before the one you’re talking about killed two cats and ripped the dogs eye out and gave its owner eight stitches
@@williamburgess6358 did not know that, definitely aggressive!
I own a few pekins.
@@yellowduckk120 that's great! Do you have males or females?
@@Mothercluckerschickenfarm I'm not sure yet. Bought them unsexed. I'll find out soon tho.
You are talking about chickens but at the same time you are talking about us!!
@lettyrodrz9940 lol, that is true! Very similar for sure. Thanks for watching!
This helps in making our decision as these are 2 breeds were thinking of. I have heard from many sources that plymouth rocks are great dual purpose birds though wnd thats what they were bred for.
So glad this helped you! We have both, and enjoy both the breeds. I haven't raised plymouth rocks for meat, just eggs, but I have learned that they are great dual purpose birds also. Thanks for watching!
Your film is very confusing. Parts of it do not match the subject which you are talking. An example, you talk about Leghorns, but show other breeds. The same happens for the other breeds you discuss. To someone just learning about the different breeds of chickens, this would be very unhelpful. They need to be able to match the breed with how they look.
Very sorry for the confusion, I definately agree with you and will work on matching that up better, thank you!
I have Rhode island reds and mine lay an average of 325 eggs per year☺
That is awesome! I have quite a few also, and they are definately good egg layers. Thank you Anne!
Very nice farm
@VisitPunjab Thank you! And thank you for watching, we greatly appreciate you.
@@Mothercluckerschickenfarm my pleasure I like your video and information you provide we all are learning from your video keep it up
💘❤💓
Thank you for watching!
Many people claim Rhode island Reds are quite mean and nasty to other breeds and people. May I ask where you purchase your chicks from? You have a beautiful flock.
@kl1958 sometimes they can be, but in our experience over the last 7 yrs of raising them and others we have never had a mean one. Even our roosters are friendly. We have purchased ours from feed stores, chicken farms, and most recently we hatch our own chicks. Thank you for watching!
@@Mothercluckerschickenfarm Ok...well thank you...will need to try some with my next order...all the testamonials that you read on Murray MacMurray's website...people love them even White leghorns...maybe its where hatcheries original breeding stock started at. Thank you!
@kl1958 yes, give them a try, they may very well work out for you. Especially egg wise, they usually lay 5 days per week, good egg layers.
Reds are not as cold hardy as most other breeds. Live in south Missouri, Rooster lost half his comb and many hens lost toes last winter.
That's definately good to know, and you speak from experience living in Missouri for sure. Sorry that happened to your rooster and hens. Thank you so much for sharing that, and for watching, really appreciate it!
That is great! Let us know how you like them. So glad you enjoyed the video!
Im looking for bantams in my area now since i saw it in a previous video of yours. Thank you for your great info.☺
My quail are 4 weeks and layed their first egg
Really?? That's great!!! Maybe ours will start laying a little earlier than we thought. Thank you for watching and for sharing that!
I have chickens and coddled them too much. They have a heat lamp above their roost and will literally go to sleep in the door way and under the nest boxes if the lamp is not on when they are ready to go to sleep.
Nice! They are definitely spoiled, but so great you take care of them in that way! I bet your chickens are very calm also. Thank you for watching and sharing!
There are barred rocks with black and white bars, and also white barred rocks that are mostly white, with some light bars. And one of the roosters, spurred me for not bring treats, so, they are not all so friendly.
That's great info. Thank you for clarifying. That is definitely a mean rooster you have, Generally Barred rocks are docile, friendly, but each individual bird can be different. Thank you for sharing that.😊
Hello, can you tell me. Do Easter Eggers go broody, and is it often?
Hi Jim, We have several easter Eggers and from our experience they do not have a strong tendency to go broody. There are always exceptions depending on your specific hen, but for the most part, they tend not to go broody. We have 3, and none of ours have had that issue. If you are having problems with yours, you can periodically take her off the nesting box or coop and put her outside in the run, we have done that before with our broody Orpington and it seemed to work well. Hope that helps and thank you for your question. ☺️
Barred Plymouth Rock to be correct.
Thank you for the correction. Sometimes referred to as the Barred Rock chicken originally derived from the Plymouth Rock Chicken. Thank you for watching!
Very sad for everyone when one dies 😢
I definitely agree Allen.🥰
Yay!!! They are truly wonderful companions as well. Quietly 'talkative' and affectionate
I totally agree! We have 2 and love them. Glad you enjoyed the video!
I own many chickens. They are amazing. But I wouldn't call them intelligent 😂
You are definitely entitled to your opinion. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Cute chicken
Thank you! And Thank you for watching!
No problem
New sub here Anne Heyns sent me over. ❤❤
Welcome to the channel! Hope you are enjoying our content. Thank you for watching and subscribing, glad to have you!
I have two 12ft roost and three 10ft roost. Mine are all one height 29inches off the ground. I have 29 hens and 3 roosters.
That sounds great! Plenty of roosting space for your flock. You have about the same amount of hens as we do. Thank you for sharing, and watching!
Hrmm...you'll never go wrong with the Plymouth Barred Rock
Love them too! You are right about that!
Very interesting facts, thanks for sharing this☺
You're welcome! Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for watching!
❤❤❤
Thank you! And thank you for watching too!
They look very small though☺
Yes, these chickens are quite small compared to regular size hens.
@@Mothercluckerschickenfarm I have rhode island reds and i want to introduce a new breed but im scared they will overpower a small breed like this, thats why im looking at the brahmas and the other one you mentioned in a previous post☺
@AnneHeyns I can understand that. You probably would want to introduce them gradually, Brahman and buff orpingtons are very docile birds and they make it easy to introduce other breeds to the flock. Rhode Island Reds can go either way, sometimes docile sometimes aggressive.
Most chickens can be found in my backyard. Many breeds and crazy personalities ❤❤❤
Good for you! Sounds like your yard is a beautiful mix of chickens!
@@Mothercluckerschickenfarm yep, I’m one mixed up mother clucker!
The took over the coop, then they took over my house. How much more room do they want 🤦♂️
Definitely see your point! Thanks for watching!
Cutee🥰🥰
Thank you and thanks for watching!😊
Australorp... interesting I am looking for a new breed, thanks for this information☺
You're welcome Anne. Would love one of these birds myself!
@@yourdoseofinspiration63 I'm in two minds between this and Brahmas
Both are great!
Pictures don't match the words, sadly
We tried to incorporate all regular size chickens in the introduction. Thruout the video we highlighted many different bantam chickens. Do appreciate you watching.
This is very informative
Thank you! Glad you found it interesting. Thank you for watching!

There are so many different colored chickens! Great video!
Yes, so true! So glad you liked the video, thank you for watching!

Thank you for watching!
Neither! I think I have the very best homestead chickens. Crossing buff orpington roosters with black giant hens. Just my 2 cents, but they are huge, beautiful, and lay year round down here. All very friendly
Now that sounds awesome! Love buff Orpingtons, and that sounds like a good combination. Especially when they lay year round. Thank you for sharing and for watching us!
