Great video! I used to buy these at a market in my local city and this is the video that gets the closest to recreating them how I remember them. I've been using my wok spider to press the bowls into shape and it works great. It lets the oil flow freely and pushes the tortilla into a natural bowl shape. Of course, I always use tongs for flipping and draining them for safety.

If you doing this, you should look into frying "buñuelos”. A Mexican cinnamon-sugar pastry.

Mama homemade is 10000x better than premade

I use the can that tomatoes or olives come out of. Empty the can take the paper off dry it off and get a pair of vice grips and use that as a handle for the can drop the flour tortilla in the hot oil. Press the can down in the middle it will mould around the can and look like taco bells haha
