Experienced gamer who's been around and started the hobby on Atari 2600. This channel is for reviewing videogames from the perspective of a person who has a full time job and family. Reviews will be of games of my choosing that I'm interested in and mostly done on PS5 as that is my most powerful platform I own. I am the sole proprietor of this channel so all reviews will be done by me and therefore may take some time to put out after a game is released. This channel will also feature "episodes" called backlog. Backlog episodes will be posted when there is a dry spell of new releases and therefore I have an opportunity to review a game that I missed out on due to lack of free time.
I will also be covering both Overwatch and Valorant as those are my favorite and go to FPS games. Things like major content updates and some patches will be the main focus here.

Final Fantasy 14 Review pt1 A Realm Reborn
Great review and a fantastic game still holds up to today by far my all time favorite 🎉
Good review. I think it was too hyped up as a COD killer. I still personally like to play XDefiant over COD. Haven't played COD since the start of season 3, and I was honestly burnt out by mid season 2.
i really dont get why people compare it to call of duty. its more like overwatch.
In a lot of ways your right. And I agree. But the reason cod is the comparable is due to the devs, loadouts, and the fact that everyone shares the same hitbox (health pool as well mostly except phantom). So while it's objective based, it does play a lot like cod. Ow plays like a moba in a fps perspective
It’s free. Free. Free. Free. Free.
finally a youtuber who talks about the lack of in game content, only skins you can get without buying is 3 different skins
Yea, it's a bummer. It's expected as a f2p game, but I was hoping for at least like 10 skins to grind for and not just the 3 that's there
I thought the same thing until I ran out of stuff to do. It dries up fast. Early access games shouldn't ever be really considered for gory though. They could still screw it up
Oh I agree it doesn't qualify, but what's here is fantastic. Highly doubt they drop the ball on this one
@@veterangamer4447 def agree. I'm curious what % of the game is present right now. I kinda blew through everything it has to offer in the first week, so I'm hoping there's a lot more
@@j45002 it's a roguelite, so if it's like hades 1, to get the true ending u have to beat it 10 times
This game is 100% trash.
I disagree. I'm loving it. It's fun but it's not for pvp players. It may change in the future as it's early access, but right now it's for pve players mostly
Finally a shooter I can play 😂
Haha
I love my main pawn . Ng+ we killing everybody so fast , Best co-op:)
Nice. Yea I'm on ng+ as well. Really good game despite issues
been watching your reviews and your insight and critiques are really good
Thank you
they might have something on their hands here if they upgrade to a new engine for a sequel
Agreed
I can forgive all of the games flaws minus 1. It inexplicably doesn’t have a new game plus!! The whole appeal to me of playing a game more than once is having all of my skills and cosmetics unlocked and playing through again. WTF were they even thinking with that considering they have had it in every other game🤦♂️
Yea I didn't even think of it. Rolled credits and turned it off lol
@@veterangamer4447 lol honestly I messed with it a bit day 1 and have been no logging DD2 since. I’m about ready to switch over to it now but the lack of new game plus is really turning me off. I know you can replay the missions but those seem so incredibly small it doesn’t seem worth even doing them coop to me.
Games is kinda poop. Combat is terrible.
Disagree on combat. Combat I enjoyed. Everything else felt dated.
@veterangamer4447 ughhhhhh.... it's sort of growing on me... But just seems a little "button smashy"
Depends on difficulty setting and how early you are in the game
@veterangamer4447 I'm playing on medium. I'm a little upset with how the "counter/parry" works BUT I'm sure there's a timing thing I'm missing.
I am tired of the whole open world map marker question mark trope as well, but honestly I’m not going to single out Rise for it when every other game still does that to this date. Including games like Horizon, God of War, Rift Apart, Spiderman 2, FF7 Rebirth, Infinite Wealth, and so on and so on. Even Ghost of Tsushima, while having map fog (which Rise kind of does as well as you don’t see everything for a region off the rip), absolutely has question marks and map markers all over the map. The wind mechanic is cool, but that’s only in place of a marker to follow for the quest you’re tracking and keeps the screen a bit less cluttered. But it still uses the same old question mark trope, bandit camp cleanouts, collectathon items, and so on. So while I love when a game is confident enough without it like ER and DD, I can’t in good conscience single out Rise for it when every other triple A title and publisher/developer is doing it to this day still. I chose to play Dragon’s Dogma 2 first and put 120 hours into the platinum for that game. Going into Rise it was a rough transition. But 20 hours deep, I’m really enjoying it. I guess it depends on expectations going in. I had heard mixed and bad reviews for it so with low expectations I was pleasantly surprised. If I had gone in on the hype train I might have had a different experience. It also has the benefit of being one of the few games in this time period and setting we have (aside from like Ishin and Ghost), although we do have a slew of samurai/ronin/ninja games upcoming to further spread this sub genre thin. So as an itch scratcher between now and whenever we see Ghost 2, it’s pretty solid.
Fair enough. I'm playing dd2 now and I'm hooked. Just got Magik archer. Game has issues as well. Performance for one, but also not a fan of not being able to lock on to targets. Especially with melee characters
In some ways I think they made the original FF7 better. Especially the Juno part of the story. Also the original weapons are a bazillion times cooler. Even the golden saucer is better in the original. Rebirth does Gongaga area and Cosmos Canyon better however. But the first 8 chapters are not better than the original at least.
I agree with alot of your points except the Saucer. I think it's way better in this one, cuz the immersion is so much better due to visual upgrade. But to eaches own. Bare in mind somethings are being kept for the third part as well
@@veterangamer4447 Way I like the old golden saucer better is because of chocobo betting and the battle arena was more challenging and fun. But it's not that bad. The arcade mini games over all is allot better in this game.
Every time I'm forced to play QB I'm thinking how much i suck, but I always seem to win. I won the tournament and smashed with ease the three people in chapter 8.
Nice. It's not that hard tbh. I play hearthstone and use to play magic the gathering when I was kid, so it was easy for me. I had 4 different decks in queens blood
I never played 16. Remake was the first one i really played ... but now after rebirth...im playing them all.. its hooked me into the franchise. Im gonna play 9 next. Then maybe 16
6 is the best one overall
No 9 than 10 are the best.
12 hours in....only chapter 2...damn queens blood... absolutely amazing game...I just played remake right before. And it became my favorite game ever. And rebirth is even better
I'm in 7 chapter now. Game is AMAZING!
chapter six and im already sick of the minigames
To eaches own. I enjoyed most of them especially queens blood
The story was GOOD when it was FF 7. When is doing new shit or changing in particular the ending....yeah no. FF 16 better music than FF7? You are insane and I can prove. Aerith theme, Jenova theme, One Winged Angel theme, Those who Fight Further...So yeah no.
Story is subjective, but I won't comment on it due to spoilers, but I enjoyed it. As for music, the themes for 7 are classic and gives nostalgia feels, this is true. However, for me at least, in general especially during boss battles, I enjoyed 16 music more as it got my blood pumping. Again, this is also subjective
No new character is crazy
Yea. Pharah got a rework and that's about it. No new maps, just junkertown tweak. This season is about the health of the game. As I said, it plays better, but they gotta do something about the hitboxes of certain projectiles
This for some reason reminds me a lot of tarkov with the movement and gunplay stuff
It plays very different to tarkov, but I see where your coming from
He should remove the wallhack imo
You mean the scan? There's a perk that counters it and won't work on you. Plus, u can't shoot in that state, but I see what you mean
If your still playing OW at this point idk what to tell you, cant blame the game, I think your the issue at this point.
110% facts!❤ Also you forgot to mention the third play style being ranged.
since when do we like whats going on in 2024
For those that do. That said, this was made before that horrendous news that all roles are getting a healing passive 😆
Nah man.. My first game was ds1 and it was so f*cking easy! The only boss that took me more than 3 tries was the Bed of Chaos 'cause he's a b*tch. But other than that, it was no challenge at all. BUT! I played Dark Souls 3 for my second game, and it was hard as f*ck! If I say Dark Rater Midir, or Gael, or Gundyr, I think everybidy will know what I'm thinking. This game is hard as f*ck. And it's ok! If you don't want it, don't buy it. But the challenge doesn't get easier. So yeah. F*ck Soulsborne. Also they are one of the best games of all time. Stupid oximoron's.
People who think elden ring is hard are actually smoking za
I am playing through this game right now and it has mee hooked and I can't stop thinking about it and planning whenever I am not playing the game. Either I am addicted or the game really is that freaking good.
Or, it's both. The game is amazing and if 2023 was not a stacked year, it could've been nominated for goty and rpg of the year. It's an amazing game across the board. Glad your enjoying it
I'm a fan (at least used to be), and interestingly enough, it's a bit different for me. - I hate new maps. Not because they're bad, but because it's just too much. I need to know the map well to play well, and you can't expect me to know 200 maps, dude. Especially if I don't play 6 hours a day. I'd rather have 4 good maps or fixed map selection for a season, "added new map" is really not a universal good from my perspective - I literally have no incentive to play. I used to play OW1 a lot and I have pretty much all legendary skins for all my fave heroes, including event ones. WITHOUT buying lootboxes. Because I could always just grind those skins, and just buy them with coins. Now I have default skins for all new heroes and no real way of getting new skins without paying money - blizzard did doom themselves with how the game is designed to a balancing nightmare and yeah, that's what they get. And it's not fun
Maps are subjective, but I see your point. Valorant limits the map pool every season for the reasons you laid out. At the same time, limited pool also means more repetitive so it's a give and take situation with map pools. As for the skins, I totally get it and agree. It's why the game is in the shape it is. Yes, they need to make money, but they slapped everyone who bought the game in the face, with little rewards for doing so. Like I said, in its current state, if you actively enjoy this game then it will be a good year since it's being supported. But there's nothing here to bring in new players, or bring back the ones that left. It's basically status quo
@@veterangamer4447 I feel like many maps is a bad solution to being repetitive. If the game doesn't offer enough depth, huge map pool doesnt really solve the issue, since you're playing the game, not the map. And worst enemies of depth are 1) meta 2) static hero pools (at least imo).
@ikbrrrr I see what you mean. So before ow2 did a limited map pool when the game launched, however it got stale quick. At least for players like myself with 100s of hrs played going all the way back to ow1 beta. So I'm in the camp of, for qp or arcade have all the maps, but for comp it should be a pool. Imo
Real
I paid for Overwatch 1. And got nothing for it in OW2, which is free. So sad this game fell off hard.
I wondered the same think thinking I would at least get pve for free but no all I got was kiriko
games pisses me off with the microtransactions but i’ve loved overwatch since 2017 when i started playing overwatch 1 , im just sticking with my skins from ow1 , only reason i keep playing is because my girl plays it still and i gotta show someone up 😊
great video btw man i subbed 🤞🏼
Thanks bud appreciate it
I liked reaper but not kiriko, hanzo, ana, widow, and lots of long range heros make me completely unable to play. The amount of RANDOM headshots I receive is literally demonic. Not even a demons curse would give me this many disgusting headshots from hanzo and shitiko. Team has 0 coordination even thought I use mic and good coms. They completely ignore everything I say. reaper is also quite trash considering the range u need to be effective at him and almost all the meta heros that make that quite impossible
Reaper needs a rework. He's a tank buster. Great against in close tanks. But since there's only 1 and he's so loud, he can't do much else. But I see what u mean. If snipers are an issue u can counter with flankers. Tracer, sombra, etc.
@@veterangamer4447 yea but like in ow1 I used to play only reaper and nothing would counter me at all. Now unless I play sojourn, ashe, genji, cassy, soldier or widow I just can't win. I can still perform with him but it's too much effort
@rodolf5941 yea that's the problem. Ow2 is not great balance wise. Everything can change with 1 patch. They just gutted mauga, buffed orissa, and sojourn got a buff. So these things change easily. I feel ya though, sometimes u want to play your favorite hero, but can't cuz they are too weak. It's frustrating
honestly, dude, it's a skill issue. If you're getting random headshots -- means you either have terrible positioning or terrible movement. Maybe both. Try and work on those and you'll see change.
@@ikbrrrr my balls r waiting, they aren't gonna lick themselves
Well, If Elden Ring is hard for you, you are Probably very new to the Soulborne genre like me, and it's perfectly ok if you feel it's hard . Just want to say this.. it was my 10 hours into the game and I made my first kill (I wasn't able to cross the training cave in the first 3 hours) now after 30 hours of playing.. I've defeated many mini bosses including Agheel Dragon, tibia mariner, mad pumpkin head, that underground dude with a cool sword, one of those red invaders and the most intimidating mini boss - Tree Sentinel. I know it looks hard now, but trust me, with Time this game gets easier.. (It won't ever get easiest for you, but you'll learn how to play Soulslike games). So be patient, Trust the process.. read and watch Walkthroughs.. trust me, you'll end up loving this game
💀💀💀
I played bloodborne last month, my first souls game. It was a challenge at parts, but generally wasn’t too hard. However Elden ring on the other hand! It’s too hard, I don’t think I’ll able to pass the first main boss, let alone complete it. I can’t even get the first boss to half his health after 40+ attempts
Really? Man BB was harder for me like way harder. ER gives the flexibility to venture off, plus you can summon(can't do it in BB). To eaches own I suppose, but the general consensus is ER is the easiest.
@@veterangamer4447 I don’t know why, maybe, it’s hard to go from one souls game to another, but in 15 hours of gameplay, in Elden ring, I’ve only managed to do some exploring and kill only two of the optional bosses
Going from souls game to souls game depends on which ones. ER is similar to Dark/demon souls. BB however, does have similarities but that games gameplay rewards aggression since you can heal by dealing dmg. So there is an adjustment to be made. I know the first main boss of ER is designed to test you. If you can best him, the rest fall into place
@@veterangamer4447 ahhh I didn’t realise inventory weight and fat rolling was a thing, I’ve only played bloodborne, I take it back. He was easy!
@nicolasjackson209 lmfao well then. That will solve the problem. Glad you got through him. Hope you can enjoy the game more now that you are aware of the mechanic
Ur gay
As a new player and casual player not every character is unlocked and yes every character is viable but the amount of times i get flashed by gecko and he has a util that plants a bomb you can't say it is too balanced there is obviously better agents than others, i think as a casual game it is good but comp has so many murfs for me and teammates just throw, i think counter strike is a bit moretry hard but you dont have to worry about player abilites and the skins are cheap in counterstrike and idk what it is i just find CS better for me, the movement is very crisp in CS but i agree with alot of your points, CS anticheat sucks and is basically nonexistent
Fair enough. Balance in hero based games is never perfect. But for an average player, anybody can be used. In Overwatch, this is not the case, as there's always some characters that are just bad and weak compared to others
i totally agree. it could've been apex but they jumped shipped to EOMM like call of duty does (both also have intentionally horrible audio cues) and that's why I quit both. valo is basically the only one that has stood the test of time WITH an actual working anti-cheat. it might be slower than I would like but if the tradeoff is fair competition, id take it everyday.
Agreed
try The Finals
@@helloandgoodbye7286 already play it friend
Calling Valorant the best fps of 2023 is something, although they are making great changes and updating the game very often, the lack of content and events make the game very repetitive and tiring to play sometimes, I feel like this video is only really from one part of the player base, seeing as for the majority it's boring and repetitive, you grind for a battlepass that lasts around 2/3 months and that's it, there are not really any player rewards or any incentive to even play with the lack of content
It's a tactical shooter that focuses on competitive gameplay. Not to mention the roster of characters that take significant time to learn. When you wanna change things up, learn a different character. CS has even less modes and it's the most popular shooter(has lots of issues currently). Perhaps the game is just not for you personally. Seems like, your more into shooters that have more modes that are spread out. Like tdm, domination, capture the flag etc. Which is fine, but to me valorant is the best due to the overall experience. Games like cod have a cheating issue, requires lots of space, and needs to be bought. Valorant is not for everybody, but there's no denying the quality of the user experience
@@veterangamer4447CS has better gunplay and above all else way better maps. Valorant map design is an absolute pure hot pile of garbage. Cod isn't the only game that has a cheater issue, valorant has it too, almost every fps game has that issue and always will.
@@luckylazaros9653they both have great maps and gunplay... Bit of an extreme take. If the gunplay and maps are bad, what else are people playing for?? The abilities?
@@jamierogers9695 No they don't. Valorant maps are a definition of clusterfuck play where you taking space and holding something never gives you the feeling of importance while in CS I never had that feeling. Gunplay in val is so damn clunky, like the guns just feel damn terrible, especially when you compare vandal to AK. The spray pattern then? Horrendous. On top of everything the bs with random "low client fps" and riot's trash servers and the random "accuracy" and inconsistency with your performance is everything that makes val terrible.
@@jamierogers9695 To sum it up. The set up and presentation of the game is great. Execution on the other hand, just like for any other Riot game is just damn bad.
you're smoking crack
As someone who’s never played it, why are people always clowning on it online?
Because the people that play it are beyond cringe
It's a good question. Some just wanna hate, others wanna troll. Either way it's irrelevant. If you look at the game objectively, it's the best fps around overall. From accessibility, to support, to polish, to anti-cheat. From every metric you use, it's the best. CS2 would be there, but it has too many issues. From bugs, to cheaters, to valves silence. Cs2 should be the best, and may get there in time, but it's not there yet imo.
I think everyone, including the developers are overthinking this. Every game should have an easy mode simply for accessibility. Some people can’t keep up because they have certain disabilities but they may really love the art and wish that they could.
Your not wrong. But it's their choice, and they know it hurts sales. If you know it's not for you, then don't bother. Like I don't really play horror games cuz of the anxiety it gives me. I accept it and move on. My bro don't touch souls games cuz of difficulty, so he doesn't bother
I'm now looking through the internet for what I'm doing wrong, i loved DS2, beat DS3 several times, and think bloodborne was one of the greatest games that year, but here i am in eldin ring, wondering what I'm doing wrong, i usually have like.. 20, maybe 25 vit by the end of the games, but I'm at 15 at the first boss getting destroyed by just about everything, I'm lv 30 at godwin getting one shot, i think garmin and ishin were amazing bosses, and plenty hard (maybe not garmin as much) so i love learning challanging bosses, but the first 2 real bosses in this game have just been a slog of dodging until i get hit once, pray i survive, then run away to heal, i guess I'm the minority looking at content creators, but I'm really just not having fun
Hmm, not sure what to tell u. Unless they changed things. Wasn't that bad for me. What build u running? I know the first 2 bosses were tough, but not that tough. ER is the easiest. BB was harder. Try exploring
i just started and i already fuking hate it LIKE WHY THE HELL SO BOSSES SLAP U IN 3 HITS
Lol you gotta learn the pattern. It's not a button masher. Patience is the key. Read the pattern and learn where the openings are. Summon helps as well. Mage builds tend to be easier as well since u can spam spells at a distance
Same
Came back to Halo Infinite around the end of season 4. Put in 150h since then 😅
Nice. Yea how it didn't get nominated for best on going game is beyond me. Then again it should've won let alone nominated
first time i had installed it my team mates were throwing so i just deleted it 💀
Yes that's the biggest issue and it's not even the game. It's best if you have 2 friends to play with. Can try the game discord and use lfg is you don't have peeps
Keep it up bro👍
Thanks for the support
Great review! hope you continue to progress in this game its really fun! :)
Thanks. Yes I definitely will. Not only is there nothing new for me until ff7R, but I already bought the complete edition. So I'm committed to going through it all
