Is there a way to mount this to a brick fireplace? We want to install this into the existing opening on our brick fireplace. Or would I need to mount a wooden frame inside the firebox to secure this to?

The fan is so noisy it will drive you nuts make sure you listen to it first before buying

Random question, but what would happen if there were a few drops of liquid smoke in your 'fire'place?

Of all the wall mounted bio ethanol fireplace videos I've seen, not one shows any type of heat shield or reflector being installed on the wall. I have a 19" burner, wall mounted, and the drywall around the middle gets pretty warm, roughly a little warmer than lets say ironing a pair of jeans then putting your palm on it kind of warmth. Not enough to catch fire, but enough to make me monitor it as long as the fires lit. Lord knows irons have started fires in the past. Wouldn't be taking any naps in the big comfy chair while its on. I'm going to put a thin heat shield as a precaution and to have peace of mind if I do fall asleep. Only ones I saw adding fire barriers were the ones inserted into the wall. A little added protection doesn't hurt though, as well as having a box of baking soda and fire extinguisher handy.

I've got the 80013. The cover screws on from the top, not through the vents like on the other models. How do you get the cover back on once it is mounted in the wall? I built my enclosure to the specs on the instructions. I not only can't screw in from the top, but the screw holders on the cover themselves are too high and hit the wall every time I try to put the cover on. The generic instructions do not cover this particular model's issues.

Can you use both the logs and crystals at the same time?

To make things look more realistic, I'd prefer to have a blazing flame and as time moves on you have a less of a fire eventually dimming down to embers. This option could be programmable. Just my kind of option I'd like.

Anyone know how long these will last? I would use ours 4 hours a day for 4 months..
