Hmm, not bad. 26/45 for me. I recognised a lot of them, but couldn't think of the exact name. For example: I recognised the car logos, but got them mixed up.

Wow, 49, and we probably would have gotten Whitney Houston if we hadn't been so quick to give up (we were pausing). Though there were two of us, and in a few cases one of us got the first name and the other the last name. I was happy to see the names span the decades, with some whose careers go back to the 20s and 30s. (And yeah, the scrambled version of Harry Styles had two As and one R for Harry. We got it anyway.)

One of your best and most original quizzes ever. Thank you. Maybe you could try Woodstock or Monterey or even the Isle of Wight. Not chronologically, just the performers?

So, 41. I’m pretty pleased with that, although I think I may have to go put myself in a time out for not recognising Public Enemy. Also, it feels like you missed a trick, not starting with The Carpenters which, fun fact, was written as a bank advert. I’m also feeling personally snubbed on Joni Mitchell’s behalf. Another cracking quiz and yes i would like more like this, also on a side note i hear stuff i haven't listened to in years so i go down the rabbit hole of music on you tube and replay them fantastic, i have started to compile a play list on spotify from your quizzes ( truth is my my grown up children do it for me) but i look forward to each quiz you do and i appreciate it takes time but trust me it means a lot to people so keep it up and thanks

Very interesting idea. Recognised at least 90% of them but buggered if I could remember both the title and the singer on quite a few. Fun fact: REM performed Losing My Religion when they were inducted into the Songwriter's Hall of Fame this week. Likely to be their last ever live performance.

This was a really really good quiz. When you said that the songs were Hall of fame-ers from 1962-1991 I thought "great when all the cool songs were released" but quite a few of them were more obscure. A good challenge.

I could probably do plenty more of these if people like it, so feel free to let me know your thoughts.

Blue Monday is one of my all time favourite songs. it still is the highest selling UK 12 inch single. I was surprized that Madness didn't turn up on the list or Guns 'n' Roses.

As an American, this list was not at all what I remember being popular in the 90s. I don't know how much of that is divergence between American and British music at the time and how much might be bias in what I was listening to in the 90s. <Pause> Okay, I just went and looked at the American #1s in the 90s, and there's definitely some memory bias (Grunge, it seems, was not successful at topping the charts), but it still looks like a very different list than the British one. Any chance of an American version? Needless to say, I did terribly. I got some of the ones that were covers of things from the 60s and 70s and a few that were also big in America. But so many unfamiliar songs!
