Can you beat Pokemon FireRed while blind and deaf?
Pokemon FireRed completed without visuals or audio. The main goal of this project was to create a sequence of inputs that beats the game with an 100% chance of success. I fell just short of the gold standard 100%, but nonetheless, the sequence of inputs enables some fun challenges, like playing the game blind and deaf.
The game could probably be completed with a much lower level team, but I went with a safer strategy, leveling one member of the team very high. In the future, now that I've worked through this process once, I'll be taking faster, more complex approaches.

Did you have fun?
This has to be up there in the hall of YT gaming fame, together with Challenger Andy's Gwyn run and Summoning Salt's Matt Turk Quest
This man genuinely dropped absolute gold then dipped.
You forgot to account for universes where your little brother nudges your character one spot to the right while your away
The one cheat code to rule them all.
Not going to lie, a rhythm game where you learn how to speedrun games is a fire idea.
I'm going to like and subscribe just because you deserve to get paid for this madness regardless. My god.
Helen Keller eat your heart out😂
Omg I came across this video after a year. It's fucking amazing. I'd like it again if I could
14:11 challenge failed, after 40 hours of hardwork
i want this to become a meme speedrun where the actual speerun it self is pretty much just tapdance on keyboard but all the hardwork goes into the crafting of the run! like a speedrun not for speedrunners, but for the people who theorycraft the speedrunners runs!
This is unbelievably awesome. Feels like SmallAnt on steroids
I wonder if you're doing other games or the post-game as well
What a huge waste of a life.
Who hurt you ?
you'd think doug's weedle would have leveled up by now after defeating hundreds of chamanders
Pokemon: Hellen Keller edition
It's crazy how this guy got almost 30k subscribers off of a single video and then disappeared completely. Seriously feels like a missed opportunity.
Wouldn't it be easier to just throw the rival fight by spamming growl so you don't have to consider the giga chad lvl 6 charmanders
give inputs i will make macro
4:42 oh no not this shit again
the fucking parallel universe music always gets me
I’ve been meaning to say this for a year, and I’ve held back, but I just need to get it out of my system. TAS. This is a TAS. A TASBot cannot see or hear, it just does a sequence of perfectly crafted inputs. You made a TAS. Congratulations.
can i play the game while dead?
Hellen Keller edition
this is craziest pokemon challange i've ever seen
Wow, how did I only now find this? Incredibly cool, the amount of time spent on this must've been insane. Well done!! (BTW, I agree with the title being a little misleading / clickbaity. DeArrow currently renames it to "Creating a series of inputs to beat Pokemon Fire Red with any RNG" which is much better IMO.)
I feel like this video could provide an elementary undetstamding of quantum superpositions. At the start, the Charmander is in a superposition of ⟨Won| + ⟨Lost|. The xp gain modifies the superposition without colapsing it. I'm not even remotely close to being an expert, but this is suprisingly close to my current understanding.
Can’t wait for Pokémon Blind and Deaf to come out!!!
Also known as pokemon Helen Keller edition Edit: don’t get mad at me it a joke 😅 (also good vid bro’
Oh i thought u were doing rby noit fire. Lol the random miss could throw it all in the wind.
Great now solve chess >:)
Idk if it's the same in Fire Red but i'm pretty sure in Emerald if you save and reload the game you can't encounter wild pokemon for the first 4 steps. Same as after you finish an encounter. So if that works the same here you can bypass the fast pidgy.
And they say autism isn't a super power
This is such a cool video! Great job. So much effort went into this ❤
i read some other comments similar to my experience. i really thought this was clickbait and i kept ignoring it in my recommended. i can't believe how amazing this video is! honestly maybe you should rename it lmao.
This experience of blind commands reminded me of something similar You have just learned to code in the esoteric programming language called "Brainfuck" It is very similar to this
Before opening the video, I figured you would just try to feel the sounds by vibration like Beethoven
how does the runtime for the worst possible team of Pokémon compare to the runtime of the best possible team?
respect
Nerds are awesome.
The run is an achievement on its own, but the quality of the video/presentation is insane. Well done
Hellen keller really cooked 🔥🔥🔥
helen keller%
What kind of autism is this?
You didn’t actually sit through this and do it all by hand did you?I’m guessing you used a script for the inputs.
Im confused. In fire red charmander learns metal claw at level 13. Why would you need flamethrower for brock?
Metal claw is 95% chance move, and this run basically forbids use of any not 100% hit moves
If a beta fish can beat Emerald then I'm sure you can too.
If someone is both deaf and blind they can neither see nor hear anything thus have no idea what they're doing or where they're at so from a logical perspective, hell no they can't beat any game. Even an untrained AI could do better
Did you forget braille exists?Someone that isn’t blind can simply give the blind and deaf person a braille book with all the necesssary button inputs used to beat the game.
@@BrooklynBalla 1. How are you going to learn braille if you're both deaf and blind? You won't be able to see info on it and people can't tell you by ear which each sensation means either. Also good luck telling an A from . or B from ; 2. Braille only helps for reading while games have a lot of information you need to see which isn't expressed in text 3. Good luck actively converting text in a flat screen video game into braille 4. How the hell are you going to enjoy a game anyways if you can neither hear nor see it
@@TheZombiesAreComing Why don’t you just google it?
@@TheZombiesAreComing I like how 3 of your points are this isn't feasible or enjoyable when your original point how is isn't possble form a "logical perspective". Why would whether or not the person is enjoying the game even matter in this scenario if all we care about is if it is possble or not? Sounds like you just took the title of the video a little too seriously.
@@DisplayThisOkay My points are the same all the way through. If someone is blind, they can not see. If someone is deaf, they cannot hear. That only leaves touch, taste, and smell with only the first being applicable to video games but is useless on it's own. With that said, if someone was truly deaf & blind, rather than faking it for views, they wouldn't even be able to play video games. In addition to this, if you can not perceive what you are doing, then you cannot possibly enjoy it. This entire video is a sham that's fishing for views Also, you suggested Braille for someone who is BOTH deaf & blind which means they can not read to learn it nor can they be guided through it vocally which means if they didn't learn it beforehand, they're screwed with their only means of communicating to learn the Braille being something akin to Neuralink, which if the person is both deaf & blind how could they consent to such an invasive surgery in the first place as it involves placing multiple microscopic needs directly into the brain.
this video is fucking amazing
Now try again but in set mode...
