This may well be the first Concerto for Orchestra. Bartok, Hindemith, Piston all came after with theirs. This is outstanding in it's rhythm and clarity of neo classism.. Chromatic but still total. There is true ingenuity in this finely crafted and I just Love It. It's so Not German , Not Russian , Not French, Not British. It's Cassela !

A great recording of a great symphony.

Its good to hear someone being Mahler and Richard Strauss besides Mahler and Richard Strauss ! But seriously this is a great Symphony. I enjoy it so much. I have to definitely seek out the rest of his music. If its anything like this symphony then Holy Cow!!! This alone will take many listenings to catch every nuance. Thanks for valuable discovery !

I like this composer. I think it's good music I enjoy it. For me it's uplifting. That's all that really matters, isn't it?!

Até George Crumb trabalhou o folclore natalino com muitas "SOMBRAS" em sua "Petit Suite". Essa introspecção solene é uma característica do autor polonês.

O tom melancólico e reflexivo dessa Sinfonia se deve possivelmente ao ambiente invernal característico de países europeus como a Polônia, onde as pessoas passam longo tempo abrigadas no interior de suas moradas ao calor da lareira e quando resolvem sair passam por muitos perrengues. Uma vida introspectiva e com pouco sol é a tônica cotidiana e isso lhes gera conflitos íntimos que são expostos em conversas intermináveis, mesmo numa reunião natalina. Penderecki retratou muito bem isso em sua música.

I’ve listened to this piece probably a hundred times over the past 55 years yet it’s always felt to me like one of his weaker pieces, and the final attack seems cliched to me. It just doesn’t compare to Gesang or Kontakte or Hymnen. Would be interesting to hear it in its original 5 channel mix.

In his desperation to be 'modern' as conceived the modern world Sir Michael Tippett lost his way. The Knot Garden (based on 'The Tempest') was at least not over-long and had some interesting music in it. The self-penned libretto was a tedious mess and the work dated within a few years. Later operas were even more bizarre and musically poor. A few, far smaller, works brought Tippett to his senses and some late offerings are musically of some worth. It is a sad story.

Impressive, most impressive! IDK who this composer is but but his piano concerto is Hot Diggity Dog !!! This so well structured. It's not dissonant, it's lyrical. I must find more of his music to explore. The clarity between the piano and orchestra shows so much skill. A remarkable recording

I like this piano concerto.i here the 3 PPP. Prokovief, Poulenc,Piston. But honestly this is quite original and enjoyable for its power and angular lines. This a new Composer and Concerto for me. I have listen to more of his music. My interest is piqued.
