Sheppard AFB Will Make You Crazy

F-15 Crew Chief in Tech School at Sheppard AFB relieves some pent up anger on a Sunday afternoon.
Crew Chief Gets Incentivized GoPro F-15E
zhlédnutí 52KPřed 11 lety
Air Force Crew Chief gets to ride back seat in an F-15E. I didn't fasten the helmet chin strap correctly so it's a good thing we didn't eject. I didn't know we over g'd the jet until the next day.
I leave for basic next month as a Crew Chief, I pray I get to do this one day
At first I thought your choice of song was dumb, but after watching this I realized it was genius.
Flying inside the airliner is one thing (seeing the world thru a small window) but flying in a jet, seeing it thru an open canopy must be a feeling of another world.
How were you able to take an incentive ride?
Couple things: I worked F15Es which is a two seat aircraft so that made it more likely, I worked very hard and supervision noticed, and I volunteered to go on that TDY so my friend Brant who kept getting sent TDY didnt have to go. He should have gotten the ride, he deserved it, but we swapped places so I got to go. We did not know that incentive rides were planned and he would have gotten one. Work really hard, volunteer for stuff, and be lucky. Many many people who deserve rides never get one, and many who do dont deserve them. An update to anyone curious, I am an Air Force pilot now flying the HH-60G as a Jolly Green Rescue Pilot. Keep working hard and dont give up. Learn how to learn and stay physically active.
@@fadedflage former active duty marine infantryman here, currently a reservist aerial porter trying to switch over to the 414th reserve amxs at shady j to be a crew chief 🤙🏻 it’s one of my favorite aircraft (because I’m a loser airplane nerd) lol
@@Eirik36 Hey man look into the flight engineer type AFSC
@@Eirik36 like helicopter flight engineer, if youre smart and want to do aircraft stuff you dont have to be a mechanic. If you get school done you could put in a package to the unit and get picked up for a commission and pilot training depending on all those medical age etc etc theres a waiver for most things stuff.

Good to see someone deserving get an incentive ride for a change, God bless. P.S. you look like a ten year old on Christmas day.
Thanks dude flying is awesome
A-10 crew chiefs will never know the feeling
I got my ride when I was in...best damn thing ever F15B. 73-113 out at Luke and 81-063 F15D. Luke as well
Congrats!!!! Chance of a lifetime
Great Video Mate you lucky man, All the best from Oz.
Lol the lead singer for that metal song sounds like howard jones the ex singer for killswitch engage.
Red Arrows do same for their mechanics its like a thankyou for looking after them and the planes...nice touch, when my dad in RAF flew F4M..Phantom,was able to get back seat...what a plane....my favourite old jet..0-10,000 feet in 35-45 seconds or so?...awesome...like a team of horses pushing you up...
I crewed A-10s.. Of course, never got a ride.
Shoulda stowed away in a travel pod
Who is disliking my video hahahahaha
Beautiful music selection by far.
Nice video, but would rather have heard the cockpit conversation instead of the music
Randy She It fits
The visibility those glass cockpits are incredible.
Visor down? Gloves?
Visor up, no gloves, no aviator glasses, no volleyball in jean shorts.
Wouldn't it be ironic if an item on that checklist said "Secure all loose articles".....Oh wait, it probably does say that.
I'm going to be a crew chief here in a few months. hopefully the pilots are nice enough to do this for me
It can be a rough life. I wish you the best of luck. Take care of your brothers, work hard, slow down and ask questions before you break something expensive. Keep your pencils full if lead and eraser.
you have to earn your ride, it not automatic. Good luck being a CC.
so, do you like being a crew chief? did you get a ride?
And there goes a checklist... lol.
lmao yup....
Does an over g still require some pretty extensive NDI inspections on the aircraft? I know it did on the A-7s
+johnnylaw97 It depends on the level of the over G. Level 1 is mostly a visual inspection, anything after that is more extensive. I've knocked out a level 1 inspection in about 2 hours...never mind that it was a Friday afternoon.
this is why you should get your master degree in college. and high school diploma. you can do anything. and this is what I want to do
It takes more than that. I was a crew chief on F-15C at langley. You are looking at top 1% of candidates that get to fly F-15s. Which Im sure now has changed to F-22. "FIRST IN LAST OUT" We hadd a 100% win rate on the F-15. None had been shot down in combat.
None have been shot down in air to air combat, we have lost some to SAMs over the years.
Incentive ride whats that.... HA
Just Perfect! Thanks.
I was an F-4C crew chief at RAF Bentwaters England Got to fly a range mission in my aircraft while TDY to Decimomannu AB Sardinia in 1971 Incredible ! The aircrews in my squadron were all Vietnam combat aircrews and treated us CCs with respect, we drank with them and really liked them On TDY to Aviano etc we would go to the officers club, the BOQ etc and page them....they would always invite us in to drink with them The best job in the Air Force...crew chief Spent many a 4AM preflighting my aircraft....hungover as hell, but wouldn't trade it for anything Hey...the music is perfect, if you have never flown in a fighter aircraft you don't know Go Air Force !
Dude...I always thought that hardcore rock music was the way to go for a fighter video but I loved the music choice. You captured the way this pilot feels every time he flies.
rcktpilot a billion songs to choose from -- and this
Just beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
Based on this music, I don't know if this sortie actually took place. Oh damn, my alarm clock is going off.
Fuck super flight, them old school house hangars, and that shitty hot weather. Dfac food there is bangin thoe.
No T.O stop touching that jet
Great video! You are truly blessed to have had the opportunity to get an incentive flight in a F-15. I got to ride in the back of a KC-10 over Southern Iraq many years ago. But that is nothing compared to riding along in one of the greatest fighters ever made.
Can not stand your music
Well the natural sound is a sort of loud hissing noise. It would have been awesome to capture the audio of the pilot talking but whatever. Feel free to mute the video and play your own music.
***** Good idea :D
I could watch this all day long.
Willy Wonka 2: Top Gun
Must have been awesome, to see how what you work so hard for on the ground gets to do in the air. Amazing share and what a lucky guy. And actually this music fits this well. Because if your an aviation nut.. it would be paradise.
You must have had a shitty Life Support Technician to not assist you and make sure your gear was squared away.
Aww they were good people, I just didn't pay as close attention to that detail as I should have.
very well done!
Hey Mountain Home! Rep my home state!
is it easier to get an incentive ride as a crew chief?
Maaaybe, there are a lot of good people who have worked harder and longer than I have on the flightline who deserve a ride more than I did who are still waiting. It is a crap shoot, if you're a crew chief you and a ride motivates you, then go TDY as much as possible and your chances are better.
if you re-enlist....yes
Ghost Ghostman What's TDY?
No Lol. Personnel/Admin/Civilian get more incentive flights tenfold. This is a rare occurrence.
AWESOME VID...good choice of music...
Glad to see a CREW CHIEF getting the ride.
ahahahah wow, I am stationed at MO, I KNEW THAT WAS A TBAG JET!!!
Great video, former AF SP here. Wish I could've done this. Thanks for posting!
Yet another cool video, but with music... doesn't anybody believe in natural sound?
Was that your girl you got to ride in?
asymsolutions Would've been beautiful if it was
Sure beats a 172...
Yes. The D and E models have flightsticks and throttle controls in the backseat as well. I got to fly for about six minutes. It's great fun and a lot easier than it is on a computer simulator. The pilot had me hold our altitude, which was on the cloud layer, so I banked and pulled back and forth to keep clear of the clouds. Anyone out there who wants to be an Air Force pilot should chase that dream; do it. Lesser men have succeeded; you can too.
Update: I am an Air Force pilot now.
Yes. The WSO in the back is trained to take over any time that he has to. Which hopefully isn't ever, but we still train to it especially in the sim
Congratulations... an awesome video! I really envy you.... I was an F-5E/F crew chief at the Chilean Air Force and I was incentivated with several rides in different kind of mission: ACT, Gunnery, Instruments... it was a very effective incentive for stay longer at the Air Force... Unfortunetely I have no records (pictures or videos) of those flights..... Just those memories.... the best of my life!
