Hey Nico, can you tell me please, which Cayman was it? V5 or V6? I drove last saturday with my V5 cayman 2.55 with old Hankook tires. Konny told me it's a good time, but i saw in this video, you drove 2.49 :-)

Fantastic atmosphere!

I like the calm during the outlap, the feeling out of things, getting yourself prepared. Working the tyres, really thinking about the track, getting yourself ready. I only sim race, but leading up to the race, I'm telling myself "bump leading in here, go a bit wide, apex here, throttle on slowly, let the aero steady the back, if I'm defending I can cut in tight and make them take a line that will lose them more time", and nothing else, pure focus. I jokingly call it "irreleracecar", everything not involving racecars becomes irrelevant. It is a zone, a mental and physical space wherein cognition and mechanics become the same, and you and your vehicle speak an intricate and common language at a native level. The breadth of this language is vast and deep even when emulated by computers, how much deeper is it when you're in Belgium, going up Eau Rouge? The rift that opens during the outlap, right before Eau Rouge is a divide awoken by pure fucking anger. Driving the piss out of something to prove to those around that you can drive the piss out of it better than them. It is a drive. It consumes you. It is a must, a need. Going faster than you think you can is a requirement. If you race going faster is a rudimentary foundation of life. When I drive in anger, it is for something. It is to prove something. Something important. That I can. That if I can get my times below this point, I will prove to myself how high I can set the bar, and by how much I can exceed it. Do you also find that value in motorsport? When I put in a lap that I know was me driving to the absolute limit of what I can do, for a while I am empty. I have met a threshold, and the reason I am drained is because I must figure out how I'm going to exceed that bar I've set. Reaching that level fulfills a need. I wonder if my need for it will ever wane? I hope not. I hope yours doesn't either, Nico. Keep racing.
