A Morning On The Rio with Norm Maktima #flyfishing #newmexico
Norm Maktima is a former world champion fly fisherman with Team USA and is now a coach with Team USA. I typically avoid the Rio Grande during the summer months due to high water temps and extremely unpredictable fishing conditions, but this didn't stop Norm from having a fantastic morning fly fishing the Rio Grande! We filmed this in 2 and a half hours. If this video sees a lot of views and shares, we will collaborate on a much longer piece on Norm's home waters in Pecos, New Mexico. In this special episode, I share one of my family's favorite places to camp and fish in New Mexico. My children have grown up in this place and have learned to fly fish here. Our 20 year history with this place combined with stunning aerial shots, slomo river shots, fish hookups, and beautiful macros of Trout and bugs make this an episode I thoroughly enjoyed creating. Here, Gregg takes the time to explain three foundational nymph rigs in fly fishing: The Standard Nymph Rig, The Drop Shot Nymph Rig, & finally The Euro Nymph Rig. The last two nymph rigs are grouped into Tight-Line Nymph Rigs. These rigs are incredible "searching" rigs and are used in competition style fly ...

Great video ! i'm sure we have all made simulare mistakes. I once did the same thing went out on a hunt that was supposed to be an easy hunt , turned into a five mile hike with little to no water and no way of packing out the animal. we live and learn and sadly its most effective when you have to suffer in order to not make the same mistakes.

Anyone capable of reloading ammunition is also capable of using smokeless powder in a muzzleloader. Why? Reloaders know what it takes to make sure you are not producing excessive pressures. Each load must be weighed carefully on an accurate scale and great care must be used to make sure you do not double-load the rifle. Also, most people do not realize BH209 is a hybrid powder made up of 83% smokeless powder (nitrocellulose).

You know I like coyotes but they can be such assholes. I dont want it but ill piss on it. Several years back here in Colorado I jumped a big antelope and a doe and the very next day during a blackout type rain storm 3 miles away middle of the day here comes the wide eyed doe running across the road and about 100yds away lay this big buck antelope dead at a spring .never saw the lion but the antelope was still hot the lion only had time to chew a few ribs drink the blood and had eaten the kidneys and liver this was the biggest antelope I'd seen so since I had a witness and it's legal I took its head and while doing so could see the purple bruises of its claws across the chest the classic over the back take out a front leg and go for the throat kill .just because of the wierd circumstances of seeing this pair the day before I thought maybe I was being presented a gift and not wanting to be rude took a steak off the hind quarters and left the rest for the cat .the antelope had the most symmetrical form 13 inch tall and a pair of 7 inch brow points or whatever you call them anyways when measured only one eigth of an inch difference between the horns a total of 73 and five eigth inches by far the biggest antelope I've seen in person and a very rare opportunity to share it with a lion .I have came back on my trail on another occasion to a spot where I had knelt under a pinon tree to pick up an arrowhead and saw fresh lion tracks in my knee prints .and on another occasion found fresh tracks in the sand of a cat and two kittens and the mother cat had dug up a big spot under a pinon to roll in that dark smelly pine needle dirt to cover her scent before settling in for a possible ambush .its kind of wierd 62 years in Colorado never seen a lion but at this moment am working on a lamp that has a big 6 by 7 mule deer head one of those post rut casualties neck still swollen unable to choke it out went for the nose and broke it over to the side you can see the scratches on one side of the rack and see the lion had it pinned on that side for some time before going for the nose.so all in all your video is very cool and that is a real bruiser of a black bear.and maybe one day I'll see a lion in person maybe not but they have clearly made their presence known in my life .

But if you can access the state land through public land or off a county road or highway, you have the legal right to hunt it so long as you have a hunting tag and license. The land owner may lease the grazing rights or other rights but NEVER has the hunting lease. Our state does not give landowners the hunting lease. So all hunters with a NMDGF tag/license have a legal right to all State Land that they can access so long as they access that state land without trespassing through private land.
