Starting to get pretty comfortable around that water edge as you progress lol...next you'll be fishing the same spot continuously lol meanwhile the handbag is coming up with its own plan lol...need to invest in a bait caster mate..sort that bridge out for you no sweat

Hey mate, great catch! Maybe with the big live bait (was it a mullet?) try some bigger hooks so you can get cleaner hooksets on the big ones, and also some heavier line! What pound line do you have on it now?? I would recommend probably 40lb braid with 50lb leader, that way your drag doesn’t have to be so loose! Those are just some suggestions! Be careful. That was not a sweetlip. It was a spangled emperor. Legal size is 45 cm.

Those rocks couldn't have been placed any worse. Its so hard to find footing, then landing a catch is impossible without someone standing next to you ready to jump up with a net and rope gaff. I had a big jew with no way to get it up, someone tried to help but there was nothing we could do, it eventually snapped off.
