Just to point out that when you were solving for k, even though you're told that k>0, it's not too appropriate to divide through by k, else you'll lose a solution. You should normally have 3 values of k, from which you can choose the appropriate one based on the data given. Subsequently, avoid dividing through by an unknown quantity, especially what you're finding.

It sounds a bit weird. tan(pi/2) is undefined but it may not be valid to say if tan(x) is undefined, then x = pi/2 .

This problem is quite similar to the golden ratio's continued fraction definition. Always exciting to see 'complex' problems simplifying down quite nicely.
