The movie sucked. It was basically about journalists who you are not interested in because there is little to no character development-their situation is unrealistic-traveling from NY to Washington in an SUV during a massive civil war without military escort or some form of security. One is an old man who can barely walk. Why is he trying to go to DC in his condition during a catastrophic war? It doesn’t make sense. The veteran war photographer freezes up when the sh#t hits the fan while the inexperienced naive want to be photographer suddenly becomes the cold unemotional unyielding photographer who must get the photograph no matter the danger. It doesn’t make sense. There is no way in hell that California and Texas would unite to overthrow the government. You have to remember that states have national guards that while national in theory usually respond to state emergencies. Only national guard units would have any of the military arms and equipment necessary to challenge any unit of the Federal military. A band of locals, even in America, is no match in fire power to the US military. California being a democratic state and Texas being a Republican state are not likely to unite their national guards and turn them on the Federal government. In the real Civil War it was the South Carolina government that allowed state militia to attack a Federal fort, Fort Sumpter. They attacked because they believed that Lincoln was anti-slavery though he was neutral at best on slavery. What would cause both California and Texas to attack a Federal facility? We don’t know as the movie says absolutely nothing about why there is a civil war. It was a big fat nothing. A waste of time.

*Plenty of characters (especially portrayed as bigots) are framed as conservatives and certain dialogue from the president is said to sound like Trump so I'm not so sure about the "non-political" vibe, despite Alex's efforts.*

Good review! In my opinion the fact that the infected are a mostly unseen threat is very much a positive. It draws in viewers like myself who are not big fans of monsters jumping out of corners.

91st subscriber here, remember me when you have 91,000 😉 your own imitation of Dahmer was uncanny. Although I feel for the families of the victims, I was blown away by this series. I think Evan Peters did the best job portraying Dahmer. This rendition can’t be topped, so let’s hope it’s the last. I think Netflix tried to be as respectful as possible to the stories of the victims but they should have involved the families as well as compensate them.

So many real life serial killers that "true crime connoisseurs" don't know anything about. Hard to believe that many kids today either never heard or know little about him. It's interesting. The major ones that he named were active when I was a kid. They had already captured Bundy and Gacy by the time I started walking and talking. But they were the catalyst for my studies of serial killers and FBI profilers. By the time Dahmer was committing his crimes, I was in elementary thru middle school. At that point I had already studied: Bundy, Gacy, Richard Speck, Albert Fish, The Son of Sam Killer (They caught him the night I was born). Also, The Boston Strangler, The Hillside Stranglers, BTK, The Green River Killer, Edmund Kemper, Carl Panzram, H.H. Holmes, Jack the Ripper. There weren't any I didn't study and don't know about. But the one that started it all was an unsolved case my father told about from his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. The Mad Butcher of Kingsbury Run! My dad told me about him on my 8th birthday (I was/am big into horror movies and camp fire stories). It is one of the most terrifying and compelling stories that you'd ever hear or read. Imagine Jeffrey Dahmer without the cannibalism, but back in the 1930's without modern technology. Yeah, no wonder why they never caught the guy. He was able to taunt the police themselves by burying heads, hands, or other body parts in plane view of the police station.

This series was well done. Evan Peters captured Jeffrey so well, from the first episode I was on the edge of my seat even though I knew how it ended. It was so hard to watch but for the first time, I learned more about the victims. I can understand how the victims might feel about the show but Jeffrey Dahmer is just going to be infamous for generations. I feel for them but I don’t think this will be the last time he is brought up. I completely agree with everything you said. It’s definitely worth the watch but I already had people tell me they couldn’t get past the first 15 minutes because it just made them uncomfortable and scared.

Now I’m going to watch this documentary for sure!🥰

There's one documentary I felt was done very well on this subject. The jeffery dahmer files. Released 2013. I think you can rent it on prime right now or you tube. I haven't watched this current series yet. I'm still thinking about if I really want to. Thanks for the review.

I am an avid true crime consumer. I watch and listen to a lot of content related to that. And after a point, it started feeling very disrespectful the way some of the series/movies were made based off of true crime cases. It felt more about the drama and the theatrics. But this series truly captured the essence without glorifying the killer and allowing us to see the victim's, father's, even the neighbor's perspective. I really liked what they did with it.

In a way I respect the fact the show was quite cut and dry. Not much sugar coating which did make the experience better.

Emerald is about the hustle culture, she wants the "Oprah Shot" for clout, but for OJ it's about saving the ranch. He's flat broke and needs the money, and for the alien to go away. His family built something, and he ain't leaving. That makes it a territorial dispute, even though he never fucks with the alien in any way. I think it's easy to overlook what each character did individually because of their bond, but they are shown as being at odds the entire movie, in both philosophy and methodology.
