    I was working at Falco Electronics for more than 10 years as design engineer in the power products branch, most of the time both parameters, Isat and Irated dont make any sense for the power circuit design engineers, were just a guideline to select an inductor which closely works within their circuit specification, I always thought a third derated graph which involved Ipk vs Irated vs Temp vs Total Losses (Core and wire resitance) had to be delivered to the power electronics circuit designers which would led them to pick the best one inductor within their application when talking about family product series inductors.
