Bill Nork, thank you for taking the time to do this. i've been messing around with a lap steel for several months, trying different tunings, just decided on the open G (dobro tuning) as what i am going to use to learn on. tonight i found your youtube channel, all open g tuning ! listened to all your videos, playing a little in between. you got me started up now ! motivated. thanks again.
Thank you for your comment, glad to hear that my videos are helping you get started on playing lap steel.
Very nice touch
Thank you, I appreciate your comment.

Thanks for the video, Lapsteel nice instrument I have been learning for seven years never gave up finally getting it
Glad to hear you are making progress on playing lap steel, keep on pickin’.
I just bought a lap steel guitar, I play guitar not often; which tune do you recommend for beginners? I tuned it in CEGACE is it ok?
It depends on the kind of music you want to play. If you want to play old school Country then the C6 tuning you are using will work well. If you want to play blues you might want to use a D tuning: DADF#AD. All the videos on this channel are done in G tuning GBDGBD. C6 has an advantage over D or G tuning because you can play minor chords. I’d say go ahead and start learning on the C6 tuning, check out Troy Brenningmeyer on CZcams, he has lots of lessons online but also offers streaming paid subscription lessons. Hope this is helpful, I wish you lots of success learning lap steel.
Love Cream’s version also!
Bill, i am a long time amateur guitar player who recently decided to pick up a lap steel. I really appreciate your approach to teaching. It is really great to apply what i am learning to songs that are familiar. I am surprised at the lack of real training material on youtube for the lap steel after being inundated by lessons for standard guitar. Thanks so much for your efforts in creating and posting these lessons.
Thank you for your comment George, I appreciate your positive feedback. Since you already play guitar that is an advantage to getting into lap steel. It also helps to understand basic concepts like 1 4 5 chord progressions. Lap steel seems to be getting popular lately, there is a Facebook group called Lap Steel Lunatics that includes videos of players and some instruction. Feel free to ask any questions or requests for songs in the comments of my videos.

Thank you Robert. The original version of this song was played in a 6th tuning (I think it was E6) but I wanted to show that you can play it in a G tuning.
Perfect touch!

Don’t need the backing track !
Correction: I meant to say the D note not E note at around 1:00. Sorry for any confusion.
