German Army Rainponcho Solo Overnight

This time I'm taking you with me again and I'm bringing the Bundeswehr rain poncho with me. It's not raining and there's no thunderstorm anywhere in sight, but the poncho is still a nice piece of equipment. On these summer days I prefer not to cook because of the general risk of forest fires. But there's still coffee. The poncho is camouflaged with the net scarf, because I actually find this camouflage to be the most effective.
Dieses mal nehme ich euch wieder mit und habe den Regenponcho der Bundeswehr dabei. Es regnet zwar nicht und weit und breit gab es kein Gewitter, aber der Poncho ist dennoch ein schicker Ausrüstungsgegenstand. An diesen Sommertagen koche ich lieber nicht, wegen der allgemeinen Waldbrandgefahr. Einen Kaffee gibt es dennoch. Abgetarnt wird der Poncho mit dem Netzschal, denn ich finde diese Tarnung eigentlich am effektivsten.

Das waren 3 Zeltbahnen. Reicht auch vollkommen aus, da es dann doch sehr schwer im Rucksack wird. Wenn du keine langen Strecken gehst, kann man vier Stück mitnehmen. Ansonsten sollte man das Kilo extra Gewicht nicht unterschätzen 😁👍

Grüß dich. Hatte nur die drei zum Aufbau genommen. Müsste auch mit 4 Stück gehen, wird dann aber auch ein Mü schwerer 😅. Meistens gehe ich nur mit einer raus und baue ein A-Frame.

Hello Luc, Thank you for your comment. The bagpack is a no-name bagpack made of rubber. It is waterproof and has a capacity of around 20 liters. I bought it on Amazon for around 40 or 50 euros. Miltec would also be an alternative. There are other manufacturers, but you just have to decide what is right for you. Best wishes from East Germany. 😎🤌

@@davidlips6298 Good morning, You're 100% right about the poncho. Universally usable and lightweight. Although I have to say, the original BW poncho is made of rubber😎 and weighs around 1kg. I would also set up camp in Sutherland Shire in NSW. I'm from East Germany and also make use of the surroundings here. Greetings back to the northwest bro.

@@heeyno93 This is a Jäger S backpack. Many bushcrafters probably only take large backpacks with them into the forest. But in the summer, it's too heavy for me in the heat. Then I only take small backpacks. You can definitely use the Jäger S from Savotta in the winter too. My down sleeping bag fits in there with no problem, along with my sleeping pad.
You are the master of the Low Profile! It would be easy to walk right past your shelter and not notice it, even within 20 m or so and certainly not by aerial observation from a helicopter or light aircraft. We aren't allowed solid fuel during fire bans and if we can cook it is supposed to be gas or liquid fuel stove only. Basically why we do not camp much in the height of summer Downunder. Great video, as always.
Unfortunately, lighting fires is not allowed, but I do it every now and then if the weather allows it. Low profile camouflage is really fun. OK, I don't have anything against thermal imaging reconnaissance, but it's not rocket science either. 😁

Sehr schön. Ein Video wie Weihnachten, alles drin alles dran vom spannenden Gelände bis hin zum Overnighter mit dem schönen Tarp. Zusammen mit dem Tarnnetz ist das ja unglaublich gut mit der Landschaft verschmolzen. Genial auch die Einstellung ab 29:16 mit dem Baum links im Bild. Wirkt fast wie ein Scherenschnitt.
🤭 Das mit dem Scherenschnitt ist mir erst mit deinem Lob aufgefallen. Ja mit dem Tarnnetz kann man gut noch etwas herauskitzeln. Hatte aber nur eins mitgenommen. Gelände mäßig ist die Gegend ein Glücksfall für unsere Region 😎👍

Das eigentliche Gelände stammt noch von der Reichswehr hin zur Wehrmacht und zum Schluß der Roten Armee. Die Bunker selbst wurden von den Russen erbaut. Liebe Grüße 👋😁
You should get some electrical tape and put a strip along the edge of the cup. This takes the heat off when you sip. Make sure the catch is properly engaged otherwise the bloody cup can fold on you spilling boiling water on your lap. Ask me how I know this... hahaha.
The electrical tape thing is a brilliant idea. It's really annoying when you put the hot mug to your mouth. I had already seen the snapping thing. You have to push the bracket in a little and check that it holds. 😅 Otherwise the sauce will spill onto your lap at some point. Good tips for the future - thank you 😎

I was up at 5:30am to watch as it drops 2am my time. As soon as I saw the terrain in the opening scene I knew the camo would work there. I was a bit worried when you put the canteen cup on the stove with the handle folded; something we have all done at least once. How was the pack to carry? Comfortable? Your shelter siting was good, as TA.Longbow pointed out. So good to see the gear getting used and in the old DDR, too! My late cousin Karl-Heinz (NVA Panzer Grenadier) would be tickled pink.
Hello Perry, the backpack is really comfortable to wear. I had no problems and even after miles of walking there were no pressure points. I'll just say "super quality". I noticed the handle on the cup at the end and unfolded the handle. And the tarp fits in really well with the landscape. I usually camouflage everything anyway so that I feel better and am safe. 2.9x1.8 from memory. No hood for poncho wear, just used as a shelter but you can button more to it and make a big shelter we called a taj Mahal.
Ich finde das Muster passt super in die Landschaft rein. Natürlich mit etwas Abtarnung 🤭 Die Maße betragen 2x3 Meter und die sind wirklich optimal für eine Dackelgarage.
@@BushcraftOst 2x3m ist echt ein gutes maß. da ergeben sich schon gute möglichkeiten. ich hätte geschäzt das es kleiner ist. ich kann mir vorstellen das dieses muster auch unter herbstlichen bedingungen gut funtioniert

I only took the one camouflage net with me. Next time I'll take two with me and set up the tarp as an A frame. It was already warm that day and I went swimming before the fourth thunderstorm hit me. The night (11 degrees) wasn't that cold, just a bit borderline. The morning after was a little colder, but by the time I was running it was warm enough. I should fry something good in the pan again, I haven't done that in a long time. BTW The iron and glass construction at the beginning of the video definitely came from the abandoned village nearby. I have to look at some old photos. Maybe I can find a house there with this design. Kind regards Martin😎
