Honestly wish that Esther had hit her second vault during the EF. Would’ve loved to see come away from Sydney has a double medalist. But alas.
Great and fun routine but difficulty wasn’t even close to others. Under the 10 system those with more difficulty should be rewarded as such.

Absolutely robbed. That was one of her best performances, that was at least a 9.750. Yes, Amanar had more difficulty, but I genuinely thought Esther was better than her and Khorkina. Amanar should've placed about Khorkina imo as well, her landings weren't the best, having that huge uncontrolled step in the triple twist, plus her difficulty is lower than Amanar's, but based on the given scores, they would've tied had it not been for the OOBs. This is my podium: 1) Zamo 2) Esther 3) Amanar 4) Khorkina

Considero a Esther Moya como la mejor gimnasta de Espana hasta este momento y que ejercicio en suelo pero, aqui hubo algo injusto ella se merecia una medalla.

Agreed. Speaking of Ukraine, even though Karpenko botched her floor dismount, I still think she should have came out on top over Olaru (sp?). She was the better *AA* gymnast, imo.

Esther’s floor was at the very least, a 9.750 in my opinion. She had better landings and had more difficulty than Khorkina, I love Khorkina, but Esther deserved the silver
I love the crowd! They didn't clap that much when Amanar's scored was posted either. IMO the best Spanish gymnast ever and she was totally ROBBED!

i have watched this set over and over and to be honest, there were very few deductions. She made all of her leaps and jumps around, which is where they used to sock it to them back in this time, and her tumbling was flawless. I just dont get it.
Lacked difficulty/ not artistic enough its really that simple. Clean and safe did not win medals after 1997.
+Lebronze it didn't lack difficulty really. not artistic enough? & Amanar was ever artistic lolol that's a joke. granted Amanars routine was more difficult but still the overall presentation and fun choice of music and interpretation.should've been accounted for. !nowadays she would've Won a medal with today's scoring system

I dont think so, look at her form at 2:10 , crossed legs and clear separation between them. Thats where deductions came from. With a clean form this would have scored at least 9.800

How did Amanar step out of bounds but still managed to beat Moya? All of her landings were right on and she was one of the most artistic gymnasts out there. That's a shame. Blatant favoritism there.
Amanar had very difficult tumble passes. Honestly, if she stuck her last tumbling pass and didn't go out of bounds, we would've seen probably a 9.900
Tyrone Branch Floor isn't all about difficult tumbling passes.
Back in 2000 it used to be a lot about the leaps and jumps, now its all about tumbling.
@@tyronebranch2946 They didn't deduct for steps back then as long as the gymnast showed control when they took the step. I think the real favored gymnast here was Khorkina and not Amanar, because Amanar had been scored pretty consistently throughout the Olympics with similar landings. Khorkina's event final routine was worse than her team finals one, yet she scored higher here (9.775 in team finals). 9.700 for Esther is an absolute joke, I would've given that score to Khorkina, and I'm a Khorkina fan
Because of the country she was from is part of it. The judging at these games seemed to heavily favor Russian and Romanian gymnasts. Honestly, I’m surprised they allowed Xuan to win balance beam with one of the few fair scores issued during those games. That whole week of competition was one big joke.

The judges gave the Romanians the benefit of the doubt in Sydney big time. How did Simona score a 9.712 for going out of bounds? They made sure Simona didn't score below Esther because any other gymnast would've gotten a 9.612, or lower, for going out of bounds.

She performed 2 routines on the uneven bars ! Once, as a single event (for the individual title, with a frontal dismount) and the second time (with a backward dismount), with the Romanian team event, against USSR. In all, she won 3 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medals in MTL in 1976. She went-on to win 2 gold&2 silver medals in 1980 in MOSCOW afterward ! FTW !! There you go ! In any case, she became the undisputed 1976 Olympics' Hero !
