マグナカルタは英国のトラッドフォークトリオ。このナンバーは2ndLP｢Seasons｣の冒頭に収録されているseasonsという組曲の中の冬に当たる曲である。清楚で凜としたアコースティックギターの音色と優しい歌声(ハーモニー)が美しいナンバー♪S&Gを連想させる。因みにアルバムにはイエスのキーボード奏者であるR.ウェイクマンやT.ヴィスコンティ(B)も参加している。 余談だが、マグナカルタとは1215年にジョン王の著名によって成立し、英国憲法の基礎となった大憲章の事である。

When I first heard this song years ago it just had a special way to make you want to play without a guitar! Grand Funk Railroad was a great group for that.

Blues Obituary is the second studio album by The Groundhogs, recorded, unlike the debut, in a trio format. Recording again took place at London's Marquee Studios and lasted throughout June 1969. The disc was released in September, again on the Liberty label. After Stevie Ray left, the group's sound changed from pure blues to progressive blues, which suited the musicians much more, but, unfortunately, the group's experiments did not find the proper response from the public. Now her early works, along with the albums Cream, Ten Years After, Chicken Shack, are considered classics of progressive blues, but then the group’s music did not find recognition among fans.
