me and nolan look for parts for a G35, E9X, and 2nd Gen Ranger. pull a part in charlotte, nc.
What are the things to look for when finding a 2.3L? I can’t find em anywhere nobody wants to get rid of them!
selling mine this wknd for 3k🤪👀
I also have a '94 Ranger 2.3, 2wd regular cab. It has 222,000 miles on it. I bought er' in 2017 for $500 and have done the following: New fuel pump, alternator, water pump, leaf spring, tires, and catalytic converter/tail pipe. I figure I have about $1500 into it, with the tires being the most expensive part. Well worth every penny considering how some people pay upwards of that price for just one month of truck payments.
As another Ranger owner, they are good work trucks. Just start tackling the issues and fix it up. I saw cosmetic issues other than the front end collapse but that could be as easy as new coil over springs or twisting the keys a bit like in my 4x4 version. Yes everyone ridicules the POS Rangers but you treat them nice and they are good vehicles. My AC by the way will freeze your axx out of the truck and I live in south Texas were hundreds and humid is not uncommon. The AC's are way oversized for the small cab so get a new compressor onto it and check you lines for leaks. Parts are still available so don't worry too much and start fixing that beast up. Its also a good car to learn to turn a wrench on it. Enjoy it.
Is your spare tire the original underneath? It will still have the blue on the lettering if it does.
I personally think if it's not a V8 it shouldn't be loud. 4 Cylinder and v6 should have more musical sound like a quality sound, intentional. A V8 (usually) sounds good no matter what. V6 quality resonator and quality mufflers and high flow cats give off a way superior sound imo. The straight pipe to me is for cheap broke high schoolers first cars. We've all been there.
yea no shot i’m affording a whole exhaust system. there’s only a couple v6s that sound really great, vq def isn’t one. now inline 6s on the other hand.. and also, wtf do u drive??
@@owenmiller378 it can actually be done affordable and still quality. On my 07 acura tl type s I got v3 j pipe, borla resonator, and 2 spelab N1 rear mufflers for dual exit. I also drive a 260z. I'm not taking a shot at you, if you enjoy it that's all that matters. This is the internet though and I was just saying what I thought. I have heard some badass VQ sounds and personally was undecided between my TLS and a G37. My whole exhaust settup for the TLS was $1200. The j pipe was the most at $650 but also 15 hp for an NA. The original design of the j pipe was STUPID lol. I'm just saying maybe add high flow cats and a quality resonator for under $500 and your sht will sound mean.
At 30 years old it's a fantastic vehicle! This looks really nice! I have a 1997 2.3 5-speed 7' 2wd.
Those monster,Big tires drag the engine down,as well as fuel mileage.
A really nice truck. I know several people that have Ford Ranger pickups and they have had wonderful service out of them. Really good choice for the price. Thanks for sharing!
I just bought a 94 2.3 manual ranger for $700
any links for the exhaust or tips?
muffler delete, replaced with cherrybomb. tips from amazon. check my yt shorts!
do you have a link for exhaust or tips?
I noticed your fuel gauge not working, mine broke too years ago. Can you show the paperclip fix again, didn’t get it
I’ll show you when im back in town, next weekend
One of the Best lil American Trucks Around Not like the Toyotas and have the frame Rust out
What did he do with the paper clip? I’m having the same lock up issue
You have to unplug the cord over by the A/C recharge point. Once that’s off u bridge it with a paper clip. I’ll show you when i get home, im out of town.
Hit me up when you drop that video
Or you could just fix the leak…
dry rotted tires… might get some mickey thompsons soon tho
clean that engine bay
I have a 1994 Ford Ranger 2.3 L. It'll run forever. This engine lasts if you change the oil regularly and take care of it. 1. You need to change the belt. 2. You need new tires, if even you buy new used tires. That will help with the front end. Bad tires will wear it out fast. 3. The crank windows are a plus, less to break less to short out. 4. The 5 speed transmission is a plus. It'll last forever unlike an automatic. Its also a great anti theft deterrent for most car thieves. 5. You can live without AC. I'm 63 and I do and you'll be fine. Builds character ;) Good job on this truck what you've done so far and on getting it, learning to drive the stick and if you take care of this truck it'll be around 10 years from now still running.
1. Belt ordered. 2. I have the stock set. Front suspension and likewise was already worn out. 3 & 4. Yes 5. A/C is fixed at the moment, but i may have a leak.
My 1994 Ford Ranger 2.3L has lasted me for 30 years and 450,000 miles, and it's still going strong..
No me digas eso
Is that Pittsburgh pick n pull.
charlotte nc
@@owenmiller378 all them pick n pulls look alike. The gravel. And real junk cars.
When at a junk yard leave pieces you don’t need inside a car shut the doors help the next person out. Throwing that hatch piece someone might be needing it.
Nice truck! I can outdo ya. 1993 Dodge Ram D150, 3.9L V6 Magnum Paid $500
i live in the middle of the city that’s prob why u beat me on the price
@@owenmiller378 probs. Didn’t mean to shit on ya find, but there’s still good finds out there. Interior is mint. Car seat covers can get ya by until ya save up money for the interior.
i was thinking abt throwing leather seats in jt
why did you need a truck?
moving stuff
I don't mind appearing in you're videos bro!
hellcat swap coming soon?

@@owenmiller378 nun too crazy 💯
I wouldn’t necessarily call them a cheap truck to buy unless it’s a high mileage one like this, the nicer ones with lower mileage can fetch a decent chunk of change. It’s also a 30 year old truck, most of the things that are broken on it are normal. The 2.3 is bulletproof, especially since you’ve got the manual transmission that’s made by Mazda. It’s not a ‘94 either, it’s a ‘93 since ‘94 added a 6th digit to the odometer, third one doesn’t have it.
i mean i’m the second owner, we had the original title from 1994. also my truck uses r134a a/c refrigerant, which in years past, like 1993, they used freon/r12.
🔥
informative and educational video. Thanks for the helpful tip?
is it cold
Your title is correct. Every Ranger from the 90's in my area, is listed under $3000.
@TargaWheels And I’m sure most of those are complete junk.
Bought one myself recently about a month ago last June for the same price. 2.3L 5 speed with 126k miles. I put about 500 on it because I had to replace the stock starter and I wanted to fix the ac. Honestly such a good ride, and best car to learn to drive a manual. I actually bought it and drove it back home without knowing how to drive a manual. Planning on keeping it until I can't get any parts for it anymore.
Just an advice. If you want to fix your ac make sure to check for your heater control valve under the hood. If that's not the problem then blend door actuator might be the problem and that requires cutting the housing under the dash.

Had a 94 4.0 V6 one tough little truck Danger Ranger 💪💪
Even if it does have 198K, it will go another 100K if you keep up the maintenance.
Easy 300k mile drivetrain
I got a 94 ram run and drive for $2500
Good buy sir, put $1,500 into it to get it back to square and enjoy it
$1500 for what?
@@owenmiller378 spark plugs, oil, tires ect.
Should've bought a Tacoma or Frontier.
lol
@@PNW.sparky Sorry Bud. You see way more older Tacomas and Frontier’s than Rangers. Toyotas last, you see Tacomas with 1.6 million miles and Tundras with 1 million miles. Even the Frontier with 1 million miles. It’s on CZcams 💯 🎯
my truck runs on freedom ☝️😂
@@OmarGonzalez-gx1ks not true. I see way more older American trucks than Toyota, Nissans. Any modern vehicle will last a long time if you take care of it. I’ll support American companies any day.

got a 94 with 160k, i have replaced everything except the alternator, actual motor parts, and a few other electrical things. I have completely replaced the ac and I am still having problems with it. I love the truck to death but with its age definetally comes some problems
oh yeah and my suspension is completely fucked 🤣
the drivetrain smooth though?
How exactly is the ac broken? Sometimes it just needs a cheap recharge from autozone. I love the old truck, I hope she runs forever
i need to diagnose that fr, i might have to check autozone. how much does a recharge cost?
@@owenmiller378 If you can tackle replacing a parking brake cable you can definitely manage some basic AC diagnosis. There's videos on CZcams you can watch to help. If all it needs is a recharge you can easily do that yourself with a $25 - $50 can of refrigerant.
Mine has 248k miles lol
I got a ford ranger for the same price 2001 my ranger. frontshocks are also blown but my tires are good and I just changed my alternator after it went out it’s clapped out but I like it
wish i got a 1st or 3rd gen, but 3rd gens got obd2 🙏
