Registrace 13. 07. 2013
A beginner at videos, just playing around with GoPro video footage from rides out on my BMW G310R and my BMW R100RS motorcycle.
My rides are generally short ( about 1.5 hrs ) and around Yorkshire UK.
I am also posting slideshows featuring photo's taken from my hikes in mainly Northern England.
My name is Alan, Tall-Guy is the name I used on Flickr for posting photo's of The Lake District, The Yorkshire Dales, The North York Moors and more.
Although I no longer post to Flickr the photo's are still there. See link below.
Hope you enjoy.

Just a short video.. still not happy with the Insta360 ONE X2's exposure control, nor the stabilization.. GoPro as I understand it does the stabilization in camera, Insta360 ONE X2 relies on it's software to stabilize afterwards, doesn't seem to work as well. I do think Insta360 does better with the sound. Kirkham Priory a popular place on a hot summer's day with young people enjoying swimming ...

I nice little road in the Yorkshire Wolds with some lovely views. The gates were a bit of a nuisance having to get on and off my bike with my old knees complaining. Also my visor started steaming up when I walked to the gates, hence the sky shots when my flip front visor was up..

An interesting failure. I thought the Insta360 was in 360 mode, it wasn't. I used Insta's AI to create a short, it didn't because it was in the wrong mode, but I got this instead. Yep, I'm limping, my knee is playing up, but the show must go on :-)

A short ride testing out my Insta360 ONE X2 on my new mirror mount bracket. I was using a protective cage on the camera which proved to be too heavy and caused vibration spoiling the video. Luckily I had my helmet mounted GoPro9 running to capture the scenery. I have since mounted the Insta360 directly on the bracket ( no protective cage ) and there is far less vibration making the video footag...
Coulton Mill and Scackleton Bank

A ride from Coulton village, past Coulton Mill and up the 17% gradient of Scackleton Bank. No good rushing along this narrow lane, lots of loose gravel in the centre of the road.. Video taken with an Insta360 ONE X2, I don't believe the quality is as good as my GoPro 9 but I have to keep trying to improve with it. :-)

Was round that way today 'bout 2ish. Made my way eventually up over Heslerton Wold, lots of gravel everywhere on those wee roads. Really lovely area by the bridge and river. Cheers
I was out and about yesterday evening wandering all over between Kirkham Priory and Sherburn, avoiding the A64 of course. I tend to go out on sunny evenings, much better light for the videos. As you can see, I'm riding a BMW G310R, I do have a 1981 BMW R100RS in the garage, it's due to be having a ride out very soon. What do you ride? 🙂
@@Tall-Guy I run a '23 HD Heritage Classic, still running it in, it thinks its in Kansas riding through those open landscapes of the wolds. Cheers
Hi brother! Can i use it please ? With credit, thanks, have a good day.
Very beautiful!
Very nice little road, amazing scenery along it and as far as the eye can see in the distance! The sky was also very beautiful even if your intention was not to film it! Congratulations, i liked very much your trip! Have a good Sunday!
Very, very nice!!! The rabbit had a speeeeeeed!!! Yes, it could be a race, but in no case did you fall behind like the turtle!
Enjoyed that one, great edit and music. Been riding round Sherburn and Helperthorpe, really like the open landscape with great views north and south. Cheers man
Cheers, great of you to comment. I often drive along the back roads to the coast when the A64 is busy so I know the roads quite well, I'll have to take the bike up that way too.. I like the Wolds, good and handy for me for my evening rides, especially as the sun sets much later now.. Enjoy your rides, and thanks again 🙂
I liked very much your filming with GoPro9!! The images are very, very clear!!!! I'm glad you figured out where the vibrations are coming from and how to mount the Insta360 ONE X2! Thanks for sharing, have a beautiful Sunday, my friend!
Thanks for the lovely comment, appreciated . :-)
Congratulations, very good filming! I liked it, but the Gopro version seems better to me!
I much prefer the quality of the GoPro too, thank you for your input 🙂
Nice Video buddy ☝
Thank you, kind of you to comment 🙂
Very, very interesting!
Very beautiful places, beautiful landscapes along the way. I really like your shadow on the motorcycle, it gives more dynamism to the film! Congratulations, have a nice weekend!
Thank you, I agree about the shadow.. I need more sunny days. ;-)
Thank you for sharing this very beautiful video! Wonderful scenery, congratulations! The recording is more interesting with the camera in this position! I liked very much, have a nice day, my friend!
Thank you very much!
Nice sharing my new friend and subscribed done ✅
Thanks and welcome
Fortunately, the road was not crowded and you were careful!
Amazing fountain!
Wooow! Nice mouse but you need a cat!
Thank you, I like your ride and the recording with the movement effects! Very, very good camera, and software too. Congratulations, have a nice day, my friend!
Thank you. at the moment I don't think the quality is as good as the GoPro but it's certainly a worthy opponent. Fun to play with. :-)
For the moment... but I'm sure that soon you will be able to get very good images!
Can you please tell me the name of this town where Coulton mill is thanks
Coulton Mill is down a steep narrow single track road from the village of Coulton, not far from Hovingham. York is the nearest big place. I can give you the postcode so you can do a search in Google Maps. YO624ND. I believe Coulton Mill has a Facebook page, not sure how up to date it is. 🙂
Pipes sound good. I had a 77, 82 and still have a perfect 88 with 170k miles on it. Keep it. One of the few bikes that will go up in value.
Cheers, a 170k miles, that's going some, believe it or not mine has only done 19k miles. The bike originated from Jersey, that's not a place to put a lot of miles on a bike.. A lot of the bikes life was spent stagnating in my garage, much to my shame.. Even so I couldn't bear to part with it, I knew I would get it back on the road at some point. It's definitely a keeper, no road tax, no MOT's and cheap historical vehicle insurance. Thanks for commenting. 🙂
Nice video, thanks. I own a 79 RS and try to ride it when ever the weather allows it. It still surprises me how well it performs when I take it out for a ride. Good thing you brought the bike back to life. The best way to keep them going is maintain it and ride it. Worry about esthetics later. Just one remark, a bit less music and a bit more engine sound would be nice. Greetings from the Netherlands.
Thanks for the comment, and I agree about the music, but it's there to hide the poor sound quality. I've just purchased a media mod for my GoPro, hopefully that will improve the sound quality, but it won't hide my fluffed gear changes... lol. The gear change always takes a bit of getting used to after riding my BMW G310R.
Brilliant 😂
Thank you 🙂
Just call it Jerry for being naughty, so you can tell Tom to get rid of rat..😹😸😼.
If the road is used to rain, it will be flooded like this, a lot of splashes. Great haring my friend....
Ben.
Little Weed will be pleased to know. ;-)
Thank you, don’t be deceived by the R100, this is a 1000cc machine built in 1981 by BMW. This is the sport version built for high speeds on the German Autobahns, capable of 100mph all day, a really reliable bike. 😊
Looks like this BMW R100RS is a small cc bro, but the maneuverability is the same as a big cc, this bike is good but not yet seen in my country.. Thank you for filming,,,
The bike was made in 1981, R100 in the name confuses, it's not a small capacity bike it's 1000cc. Built for cruising on German Autobahns at 100mph all day long. 🙂
Nice riding tour, great weather, beautiful views along the way. Wish you a very happy new year 2024 my friend!
Happy new year! and thank you for the nice comment. :-)
oh my.... at least noone was injured
Yes, I don't think the driver was driving recklessly or anything, just possibly a beginner at towing and had loaded his caravan wrongly, he was lucky, I thought they were going to tip over at one point.
Thanks for sharing first ride of 2024 . Have reoccurring back injury so not been able to get out of my 78 RS yet this year. Nor have we had many dry days. Out of interest, is your a post 81 model with the A10 engine?
Thanks for the comment, I have to admit the video was from last year, maybe my video was misleading, just me longing for good weather. Yes my bike was manufactured November 81, I know that because I needed proof of the bikes age for the DVLA.. I had to contact BMW for it's dating. The bike was first registered in Jersey and I became it's second owner when I bought it from Cusworths of Doncaster. Unfortunately Cusworths wrongly guessed the age of the bike when they registered it in the UK. The bike was stood unused in my garage for quite a number of years and deteriorated, it's only just gone back on the road.. I'm now 75, so I know what a lump the BMW is to manhandle, so I hope your back improves and you can get out on your bike again. :-)
Wonderful photos, congratulations!❤💯 I wish you a Happy New Year my friend!🍾🥂
Thank you, I hope you had a good Christmas and that you have a Happy New Year. 🙂

Such a lovely park🤗 and music in the bandstand too!…. Magic ✨ looking forward to Summer now 🥴😊 haha 👍
A pleasant surprise to see this pop up in my random CZcams feed this morning! Over three years now since I last went to the Lakes.
Hi Roger, nice to hear from you, even more of a surprise, it's only had fifteen views, even less when you commented.. it's a small world. :-) Not been to the Lakes myself since before Covid, I doubt I'll be going much more, unless I go on the motorbike or we decide to go there for a holiday, but I won't be doing any more one day jaunts there.. Cheers for looking in :-)

Thank you, hope you're having good days too :-)
Looks like, it's a heavy rain there 🌊🌊🌊
Actually it's not rain, it's what we in the north of England know as a sea fret. Simply put, it's a mist that rolls in from the sea... It actually happens more in the summer, a contrast of a cold sea and hot air causes the mist that can be found on our coast.
Should have "shakin' all over " as the music rather than this oompah oompah stick it up yer jumpah thing
water ark force ?? I can't find it on my maps or on line
Hi David, walking from Beck Hole to Thomason Foss, once at Thomason Foss waterfall you have to climb up to the railway line, then follow the line in an upstream direction. It's only a short walk. You'll come across the railway bridge which you have to go under, then you will see Water Ark Waterfall.. If you ever travel on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway it can be seen from the train. I don't think it's named on the maps, although I have on-line Ordinance Survey maps, if I put in Water Ark waterfall in the search box it pinpoints it as.. OS Grid Ref: OS Grid Ref: NZ 82735 02208 There is a black line across the river to show where it is. There is also a path leading to it from Beck Hole road, Grid Ref :54.405248, -0.724228. The path starts off being narrow , hedges both sides, it then goes downhill across an open field.. at the bottom of the field you'll see a footbridge across the river that goes under a railway bridge. Cross the bridge the waterfall is to your left. On Google maps near Darnholme Lane there is a road called Water Ark cottages. Hope this all helps.. 🙂
Just noticed someone was has done a description on how to get there with a map and photos.. he's spelled ARK wrong, but his photo's etc look good. yorkshirewaterfalls.blogspot.com/2017/06/water-arc-and-walk-mill-foss.html
