Survival gear dump! Easy multi-day sustainability!
zhlédnutí 12KPřed 28 dny
This is a run down of the gear I carry daily. Pack weighs in around 55 lbs and can sustain your needs for 2-3 days easy. In order to know what it is that your need or what fits you, you’ve gotta get up and go train! You will not do anything just by having watched it on CZcams. This is a baseline for your needs. This is simply what works for me as Iv used this gear for years. And while it’s high...

With the same home made antenna from previous videos, I’ll be making another contact 700 miles away. Using only the gear I brought to the field and relying on only a Plan set before the “emergency drill” and not using ANY Infrastructure. This is not relying on internet, satellites, cell towers . This is where training leads to… SUCCESS. So KEEP TRAINING! We will not rise to our expectations, bu...

Here we will go deep into the Appalachian mountains with no cellphone service and no internet to test gear for real life reviews In this series of scheduled contacts, I will attempt to make a preplanned contact over ham radio using a series of fallback strategies we compressed into a P.A.C.E plan. This will give us a better understanding on how to manipulate the gear we have to work for us in t...

    @RossPotts Před 17 dny

    Haven’t finished watching, but I know a few ultra-light hikers that have packs come in about 1/2 this weight and they go for a week. Their gear is specialized and definitely not as hearty as your requirements. This isn’t to disparage what you’re showing but, just agreeing. 55 lbs should easily get you 3 days in the bush. If you can’t carry enough for at least 3 days, you’re doing something wrong.

      If you watch the end you’ll see the med kit there. It’s the IFAK case with a Red Cross on it from NAR. I didn’t get it recorded as I had it recorded and the rain fell out and I moved to the shop and lost track of where I was in the video. But yeah the med kits in the video. As I cover navigation the med kits right there.

    I also have a ft-857d and want to get a powerfilm panel I will mostly be using js8call but also phone for NVIS. I’m struggling to decide on the size that I need any insight? I already have a 12ah lifepo4

    • @UnPavedExpeditions
      @UnPavedExpeditions Před 28 dny

      10w will keep the battery up while the 857 is in l receive mode only. Other than that you’ll be using more power than putting in at a given time BUT it will keep it topped off when your done using radio for say an emergency. Now if your into POTA I’d look at the 30w panel by Powerfilm.. it’ll keep it topped off while using on good condition days, it’ll also pack nicely in a pack for a hike too about the size of 2 xl Tshirts folded together.

    • @BobBob-il2ku
      @BobBob-il2ku Před 28 dny

      Not into pota it will be used for targeted comms windows with known contacts & RX for information gathering. I was looking the 20,30,60 watt power films it’s too expensive to make a mistake buying the wrong one 🤦‍♂️

    • @UnPavedExpeditions
      @UnPavedExpeditions Před 27 dny

      Let me correct myself. The 10w charges .5a and the 857 at idle draws .68 by my records. That won’t keep up with it BUT it does keep it topped off. I like it especially for the weight. And I’m not gonna be talking on my radio 24/7 at 100w and deplete my battery. Especially in a certain scenario. Now the 30w is another go to that I pick for overnights and long camping trips. It will keep your batteries topped off along with anything else you have , cellphone, power bank, ect ect. It charges 1.78a by my records. If I could only buy one. I’d pick the 30w for your application.

    I know the Platypus don’t do viruses but iv had that filter for years and it is great, its gravity fed so you can get your 4 liters of dirty water and while your setting up camp it’s filtering into clean bag and if you want then you can put it through the Grail and it’s been plenty of water for the night for me many of times cooking, cleaning,Hygene, brushing teethe and of course drinking
