    I think today young people are expecting too much from their jobs. At the end of the day it is simply your duty to fulfill. If you have a young family to bring up that is enough in itself to occupy a lot of your time. All the workplace socializing is more for the single people. People need to downsize their expectations, and concentrate on what is most important. You can't just keep changing your life plans because your mood has changed.

    When people are commenting gloomily that AI is going to ruin our lives, make us dumber and take our jobs away, I always say that it will only help intelligent and talented people become even more intelligent and creative, and will spare more time for those who live off tedious monotonous jobs to switch to smth that will provide personal and professional growth. I want to believe that AI will never fully replace real human interaction, given our deep evolutionary nature of being social creatures. That’s why I am currently trying to transition from a web-development role to SEM or TPM roles; and in the meantime spending some time learning generative AI and ML concepts and essentials to understand if I feel comfortable to dive deeper into this realm of immense rapidly evolving knowledge.

    Layoffs and a difficult job market was expected since early 2022 when the Federal Reserve started raising rates in March 2022 from 0.25% gradually to 5.25% in October 2023. There's usually a 12-18 month rolling lag period from the onset of Fed monetary policy changes to when the effects of those changes begin to hit the real "Main Street" economy. That's why big layoffs accelerated the past 9 months. By raising rates to 5+% after 11+ years of zero or near-zero interest rates (ZIRP) and started reducing their balance sheet which drains money from the economy, they essentially took away the punch bowl and said "party over" - the past decade of cheap/easy money was an artificial bull run in terms of financial history/norms. Companies that borrowed at cheaper rates are now underwater and need to cut costs. Lots of zombie companies and degeneracy proliferating in this low rates decade are now going out of business. Fewer startups reaching Series A. The era of cheap lending rates is over for now meaning corps can no longer borrow billions at 0.25% which forces them to exercise discipline and care in choosing their investments and outlays.Unemployment rises, vicious cycle ensues. Additionally we've now been in an economic WW3 for over 2 years. Keywords: BRICS, SGE, Comex, LBMA, fiscal dominance, SOFR, LIBOR, sanctions, 4th Turning Unfortunately we live in interesting times.

    Creativity is overrated. It's merely a random seeding in the morphological box optimisation problem. LLMs can hallucinate, and it replaces creativity perfectly.

    • @vitalyl1327
      @vitalyl1327 Před 2 měsíci

      @@HiroProtagonistCIC you clearly have no understanding whatsoever of what creativity is, and what intelligence is, including the definition of being smart. Once again: creativity only role is random-seeding the search in the morphological box. And LLMs are just as good as the most creative humans in this - they can hallucinate, and it's a sufficient level of randomness to get you out of local minima. You're obviously not very sharp, so you're unlikely to have any experience in using any of the classic mind performance tricks (e.g., the Random Seeding or Dream Dipping tools). I recommend you to try, it'll open your eyes on a true nature of creativity.

    • @vitalyl1327
      @vitalyl1327 Před 2 měsíci

      @@HolisticDeveloper not even that controversial - the random seeding role of creativity is well known and deeply embedded in the engineering culture. Even the brainstorming method is nothing but embracing the random seeding feature. Once you start thinking of all your problems in terms of morphological box - i.e., a multi-dimensional constraint formulation, where anything withing this constraint is a valid solution, and finding such a solution is a minimisation problem, all you need is finding good starting points that won't lead you into local minima outside of the constraint boundaries.

    • @HiroProtagonistCIC

Unfortunate you let whatever pseudo-intellectual blog post or book robbed your mind of it's creative potential before you encountered it. Best of luck to you and whatever AI model you latch onto like a parasite to it's data-scrapped hallucinations.

    Hello, thank you for making this video - It really resonated with me! I am a newly graduated student from a Masters of Engineering, Artificial Intelligence program in the U.S. Prior to this, I had worked professionally as a web developer for over twenty years. Two years ago I decided to retrain, so I'm "all in" for AI. At the same time, there is widespread misunderstanding of what AI and ML are, and what it is capable of doing. Your channel helps remind people of how different we humans are from technology, and especially newer technology like AI and ML. I’m glad that HD channel can help clear some of that up and remind everyone just how unique and valuable we humans are, even in the age of advanced tech like AI and ML. Your positive outlook on the future is super inspiring. I completely agree-if we stay motivated and focused, we can absolutely adapt and thrive alongside these new technologies. Keep going strong, and I’m sure you’ll continue to do amazing things in the AI world! Thanks again for sharing your story and for being a part of our community. I think this advice really depends on the type of person you are. There are many tiers of skilled people, from the ones who do it for their job, to the ones who are passionate about it. I suppose the advice is for the former. I remember as a kid I would come back from school and just code all day. Not because I was forced to but because I wanted to. It never crossed my mind that I should take a rest because I was never tired. If I was blocked I would just code something else. Maybe the fundamental issue here is whether *other* people will think you’re not a *real* programmer if you’re en eng. Manager or whatever your situation in which you can’t code the majority of your working time. To that I would say the most important thing is how you feel, not what other people think about you. If you can solve hard problems with code then you’re a coder simple as that.

      Thanks for sharing your experience! I totally get it-working in the corporate world can sometimes make coding feel like a chore. Honestly, I went through a similar phase. I found that coding every day wasn't necessary to stay sharp and improve my skills. My 9-5 was enough. One thing that really helped me fall back in love with coding was starting a small, personal project that I was genuinely excited about. For me currently its building a social trip planner with a group of colleagues, but it could be anything that interests you-a personal website, a fun app, or even automating something in your daily life. Working on something just for the fun of it can remind you of the creativity and joy coding can bring. You're doing great, and it's all about finding what reignites that spark for you. Keep coding!

    Glad to hear from you as we haven’t for a while. In your case I would immediately get what I can and in your case managing role. Then I would take some time on the side for next couple of months and write some code and see if you like it more. At that time you will probably know yourself what do you really want.

      That is a safe and probably more responsible way of doing it. Having a job then getting the necessary refreshing practice. Thank you for the suggestion.

    Thanks for letting us in on your thoughts Anna! Your situation is a tough decision for sure, I'm just glad that your are sought after in industry and are not forced into a direction you don't want to go in. Personally I think management will always be available for you but if it's engineering you want, don't wait too long before you go back to IC. Continue to stay sharp in your skills and yeah pick up some new ones! Cheers and good luck!!

      @nontraditionaltech2073 firstly thank you so much for watching and secondly for carrying. I think you are right, and you see where my heart is. A group of us decided to work on a product for the next 60 days. First, I felt like an impostor, only 60 days to make it and ship it, and I have not coded (truly coded) for a while. Plus, it is a new tech stack... honestly, I was afraid, then I decided to give it a try. Long story short since it is a new tech stack for the group we were working on trying to connect the app to the database and it did not work, we used the documentation, chatgbt etc nothing worked. Then, at night, when it was quiet ( my family asleep), I put on some music, and I started to work, trying my best to it work. Well. I GOT IT TO WORK🤩🥳. I was so happy and I remembered so well why I got into programming. Thank you. Your support means a lot.

      @@HolisticDeveloper for sure!! Learning a new stack is no joke! I’m currently feeling that pain, I’ve been learning Matlab on the job. It is not easy but I enjoy it! I had to move on from a personal project b/c of DB integration. My data sources were in SQLite but I wanted my DB to be SQL Server. Too expensive for the little time I have, I’m out lol

      First of all, I hope this is a temporary schedule. However, you need to set yourself for success and respect you and the schedule. You will have the same amount of hour in the day it just how you use it might have to shift. Make sure you know what are your priorities and ensure you make the necessary arrangements for them and then work backwards from .

    The first time you complete a task in 2 weeks, they say "Oh Yalcin, that is great. This task generally takes 3 weeks." After some time you are given a similar task but this time you may not deliver it in 2 weeks. They will question "Hey dude, you still didn't deliver it. Be quicker please". So, even if you have close relationships with your employer, you are still a tool to them to make money. They will try to utilize you as much as possible. They don't care about your personal development, mental situation etc. most of the times. The only criteria to stay some where: Are you happy or not? If you are not happy, will you be able to support yourself financially for some time if you quit? Every developer should analyze their own situation and make a decision. Don't make it complex.
