What I have discovered over the years is when you chainsaw the wood......if the butt end is smooth.....that's good wood. Now for wood that has been dead for a while.....a lot of times it looks like that butt end you show briefly at 2:31. See how the outer rings are light colored.....and the inner are darker? The inner stuff is probably the good stuff. And I am willing to bet the outer part has a rough surface....and the inner is smoother.

I just bought a lightly used FS110, I know its a little smaller but I'm still excited to try it out this coming weekend.

I also got some free wood (Oak), some of it is rotten, not as much as the ones in your video. Can these be burned down to charcoal? My guess is I can't use this in my smoker now.

Yes you definitely need chains. A little weight in the box would make a big difference as well. Diff lock would also help.

As an owner of one of these for almost 30y, I have two suggestions: If you position the mower under the tractor and connect the lift, the tractor will pull the mower into the front mounts. The best time to grease the tractor is when there are no implements on it as there are grease points obstructed by the mower.
