Colonel 100s were no joke. I considered myself pretty decent back then in BF 3, better than in any shooter after, but once a Colonel 100 got into the game, the fun was over. Usually. There were some tame ones obviously, but most of the time they just weren't fun to play against at all, not in any situation where you encountered them. So, there's a reasonable amount of truth in BFF's depiction of them.
