In 1969, in a UK Football Association Challenge Cup soccer match, something very peculiar took place. Before the day was done, all 22 players had been booked, including a man who wasn't even at the match. All is well here. Your documentary was excellent. I think (with a couple of trims for time) it should have been - or should be - transmitted on a major channel, if not at the very least a satellite channel. I know one reaches out to more people via youtube, but....there's still more kudos on TV. It's excellent!
@@TheSaintsray Hey Ray, thanks for your comments. I agree with you! I did enter the film into quite a few film festivals (about 40! cost me a couple of grand and quite a lot of time) and sent a copy to a number of broadcasters, but had no luck at all. I think that there are so many people making films today, competition is fierce and one very valid observation re the film was that it is quite a small, parochial tale, and films like that don't have much traction in the present climate. A few years back you might have caught something like this on channel 4 late at night or in small wee hours of the morning. Just for context, here is some text from the rejection email sent to me by Sundance: 'RE: 5675-IDF - BOOKED Dear John, Thank you for submitting your film to the 2015 Sundance Film Festival. Unfortunately, we were unable to include it in our Festival program this year. 12,166 films were submitted for consideration, so our Programming team had many very difficult decisions to make in order to narrow the program down to 185 films (1.5% of all films submitted).' So there we are. But the main thing for me is that I really enjoyed the process (I was really needing something to do at the time when I was finding life a bit flat) and the fact that quite a few folk have enjoyed it is enough for me. A good experience. @@bushytunes I have seen a few other of your films, a few bits and bobs - when I get a rare free moment in between looking after Ashleigh Hennessy (my singer/songwriter girlfriend) and looking for lost TV shows (I had a book out, you know....!!!!)

This is really fun and well put together. Moreover, the guy is quite likable - comes across as a tad obnoxious, which isn't a good thing. Nevertheless, he's not to overbearing - cutting back on the whimsy a little and it'd be close to perfect. Be good for the bloke to get some funding so he can make more Football Obscura. I love the uncle he's a fucking crack up.

Brilliant, loved seeing some familiar faces, I played with a couple of these guys and used to train with Charlie as a lad at Tongham rec. Great memories.
