Usually I think Mendelssohn's music is played too fast---but here, speed helps. I advise everyone to listen to this piece at 1.25 speed. Sounds better. OOtherwise it drags---especially that intro. Tempo is everything , folks.

Incredible that after near 3000 times in five years that this performance has been viewed, there isn't but one comment, even from McGill University. I have nothing to say about it except praises to the soloist, his lyrism, shining sound and expresiveness, throught an elegant and sober posture. And also congratulations to the orchestra and its director. Mine is the first "like".

I have loved A Midsummer Night's Dream from the time I was a child, pretending to dance. The piece is so rich, and the students of the Schulich School of Music handle their instruments and voices as professionals. Someday I would love to see and hear the School of Music in Canada. Meanwhile, I'm on my stationary bike with A Midsummer Night's Dream every day.
