You gotta remember the Russians were doping for years before they were eventually caught, which resulted in them being banned from the 2021 Tokyo Olympics for systematic doping. This world record should have an asterisk. To this day, they hold the world record in the 400 and 800 meters women with absurb times for that day and age.
The Soviet woman were so doped up they look like men 😂. They should be disqualified.

There was no doubt that Koch was a gifted athlete. But she was under the influence of performance enhancing drugs, which made her superhuman. Anybody could see she had the legs of a man,... and only lots of testosterone could have caused that transformation. She was the best of a bad lot, cause loads of athletes were doing the same in that era. ALL their world records should be wiped from the record book right now... including Flo Jo.
When you hear the words East Germany and Czechoslovakia and world records in the same breath, you can only think of one word... DRUGS !
Evelyn was just a natural at this. She has the weirdest running form but always wins.

FloJo is the best athlete of all times. Some of her World records have never been broken. Her soul will always be a part of the games--wherever they are held. She showed an amazing effort in this race. Probably her best showing was in 1996 when she jumped despite a huge injury.

I admire Florence Griffith Joyner who gave me dream in Seoul Olympic games. I was watching at the stadium as a child. She was so beautiful, lovely and excellent runner that I have never seen before. Rest in peace my heroine Florence Griffth Joyner.
