As the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit comprise Trinity, so ethos, logos and pathos comprise telos.
Peregrine Prude is motivated by a love of reading good books and filtering them through a Christ-centered framework. It focuses on thought-provoking quotations from these books, personal anecdotes and general ramblings aplenty centered on these books. Each full episode will tackle a specific book or be a part of a series tackling a specific book.
Such an endeavor, even down to the logo, has been inspired by two quotes:
"Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. Do not turn to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil." - Proverbs 4:26-27
"If I were called upon to symbolize God and man in the simplest form, I would draw a straight line and a circle; and of the line I would say, 'This is God, for he alone moves forever straightforward;' and of the circle, 'This is man - such is his progress.'" - Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ by Lew. Wallace

Biblically Sourced Daily Mantra

Join me as I look through the biblical truths that inspired the daily mantra my son and I repeat every weekday morning: "Do your best. Don't sweat the rest. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength. Seek ye first the Kingdom of God. Love others as yourself, even your enemies."
Bad Religion by Ross Douthat (part 1)

A poignant indictment of the decline of the American church, I first discovered Ross Douthat as a guest panelist on Bill Maher's "Real Time." Watch how he confidently and intelligently responds to Maher's straw man arguments here: czcams.com/video/2HSbCwCkHZs/video.html

You heard of E Michael Jones? He is, as far as I can presently ascertain carrying the torch that Chesterton once bore and almost single-handedly challenging the true forces behind the ills you mention…
I have not, but I'll look into him. Thanks for the recommendatiin.
Boy you’re in for a ride…
32:45mins without doctrine "...all abuses may be excused, since evolution may turn them into uses." Some eminent people say it is immanent, it comes from you. "Moral reasoning is essentially addressed to the other, including to me from the point of view of another. Making room for someone walking through a public space for example. And people relate to each other in this way". What I forgot to say was that would only appear to work up to a point, it only goes so far...
I have to wonder what you (would) make of Samuel Johnson?
@@richarddelanet Thank you for watching. I'm unfamiliar with Samuel Johnson's writings or moral views. Based on the quote you provide (from Johnson?), I agree morality is immanent and inescapable. However, that doesn't mean its locus is plural and resides in the individual. If we disbelieve in the morality communicated to us via God's Word and emanated by God's nature, then we'll adopt a moral code made up, altered, and/or twisted by others, ourselves, or most often some mishmash. This is the essence of the story of the fall in Genesis.
@@peregrineprude2046 I appreciate what you are saying. My quote is not Samuel Johnson. It is from Roger Scruton and he also stresses responsibility amongst many other things. Your explanation of the Fall in Genesis is the first time I have heard something that makes sense. I must have encountered a dozen versions and probably a dozen more over the public discourse.
Excellent choice. Please Read it!
Great insights/teaching. Thank you brother>
Love the aroma!
