Ya I remember reading a study on the cash for clunkers and it showed the government actually decreased overall spending for cars buying auto makers. People spent less to get the governments “handouts” on greener cars. I think the study said a lot of people they found would have spent more for a bigger car if not for the government program. But I suppose some people would say that’s a win because hey it’s good for the environment getting people not to buy but cars. But then it’s like well the government printed or borrowed that money they spent into existence or the federal reserve did which is inflationary.
