ANYONE BUT YOU is absolutely MADDENING
I was really disappointed. I don't have a lot of $ free for my hobbies, and when everyone was saying how WOW this was, as a horror fan I wanted to make sure I watched either at the movies, or as high quality copy on my sweet big tv in a dark room.. So when I came back from a horrendous fortnight at my estranged mother's, I paid way too much on You Tube movies and settled in with abottle of bubbles to watch this Scary Scary Movie. I found it slow, dull, Nic silly, the makeup be embarrassing... I felt really ripped off. In hindsight, I AM glad I bought it, because it feels like a cultural moment - not about a groundbreaking, terrifying horror movie, but about online hype. Bummer.
Thank you for bringing attention to a film that made me ugly cry. Guess I'll go watch it again goddamnit
The beauty of film is that it's subjective, each person crafting their own meaning and story behind why they like or don't like a specific movie. I'm so glad many of you guys in the comments appreciate A Ghost Story, and I wish I could appreciate and love this one, but I'm within the "it's painfully boring" crowd. Although I find it unwatchable, I'm glad this wonderful medium has its subjectivity so that others can enjoy what I cannot.
Fun fact: literally the only reason as to why I know about Lost was because in the game Just Cause 2, the developers put in an entire island filled to the brim with references
Are you seriously saying the silence of the lambs can never and will never be topped, simply because it came out a long time ago? because if so, yikes dude.
@@HorrorBorealis No I was saying that Silence of the Lambs has had so much time to become as loved as it is. Analysis, re-evaluation, cultural impact, all of that. So my opinion was that criticizing Longlegs for not being anywhere near as good (which people did since critics were calling it as good as Silence) was not very fair. As far as my own personal opinion on a movie being great simply because it’s old, I don’t feel that way at all. There’s plenty of older movies that are not good that are somehow are considered classics. Although I do think Silence of the Lambs is a very good movie.
Cinematography was beautifully done. Loved it. I did laugh out loud in the theater at wrong moments.
Very interesting concept i would watch. Some people Don't have patient for good things. Beau was afraid was so fun, skinamarink was bad but these are opinions
@@LogosGaming Man, Skinamarink would’ve been so good if it was like 40 minutes shorter 😭
@@xaybeast522 the concept is interesting, specially for the internet folks, but overextends. Beau is afraid split the opinions but it was 3hours of Pure Chaos and fun. I could not stop Laughin when he actually kill his childhood love by "snu snu" marvelous. To BE honest um beau sometimesni didn't really knew what was psicosis and what was real. I'm not the sharpest spoon on the kitchen drawer to BE honest
Odd they compare to Silence of the Lambs when it feels more like Se7en
@@jeffreyleerobinson I think it has something to do with it having a female lead who just became an FBI agent. But I feel like that’s the premise of so many movies 😂
I just finished the first season. I freaking hate Kate 😂😂 she's an awful person and I'm so mad shes the main woman
you'r awesome dude. you sound like a healthy honest real person.
I saw this when it came out, such an incredible film and soundtrack.
I work at a little Cafe with my mom and I just found out the other day that the main actress for this film visited the Cafe one time. I wasn't on shift because of course I wasn't
This movie so good 😊
Paused video at 3:19 to go watch Immaculate to see for myself. HOLY SHIT what a phenomenal film! Sweeney's performance was VERY strong, and for her to audition for the part years ago (2014) and then come back as a producer, acquired the script from the writer, revised the script, hired a director, gathered financing, and sold the film to a studio. That right there is some hardcore Queen shit, I am SO very impressed. Incredible!!
Like a modern Rosemary's Baby, :chefs kiss:
I struggled to watch it the first time because of its slow pace but have watched it I think 4 times now - the viewer needs a quiet space for sure - the twists and turns blew me away - I recommend it to people who trust me when I tell them they need to see this movie. Maybe my favourite movie in my 68 years.
This film is marketed as a “masterpiece” and a “modern day silence of the lambs,” and it’s not even a serial killer film. This film was such a disappointment. I left baffled, and honestly quite shocked at how different it was than what we were marketed.
My favorite part of this is how fidgety Xavier was throughout his first video. I can't blame him though, I am awfully fidgety myself when I'm recording. Guilty as charged
I find it very interesting how I uploaded my first video almost exactly one year after you uploaded your first
2:43 minutes into this video, I paused it to go watch the film myself. Absolutely beautiful film... I'm speechless. A true masterpiece of cinema, one that will stay with you after the credits roll -- especially if you have experienced the sorrow of loss first hand. Captivating performances, cinematography, sound design, story telling. My goodness, beautiful, huge fan. Thank you for the recommendation. <3 Sigh the parallel editing where she's listening to her headphones had me bawling. Grief knocks you to your knees, but life keeps moving onward...there's a stage in grief where you eventually need to stand back up and keep walking, often encountering music, sounds, places, people, objects, etc - retracing your steps that hold memories attached to when you experienced those exact things with the one you've lost. It's a painful, delicate process, and the grief hits you like a wave when these encounters happen. That scene REALLY captured that quite perfectly.
I loved this movie.
I loved "A Ghost Story".
I love this film and love this commentary. The film spoke to me in a profound way.
A beautifully haunting movie!!
at the end of the day,its business , you need to sell it and you got mouths to feed...
Forgotten? I’ve NEVER forgotten this film. ❤
@@rebeccahopkins9522 happy to hear it!
I loved this movie, it's a very rewarding re-watch too
AMAZING VIDEO
LOVED this movie.
Loved this movie back when it came out, have watched it so many times and even wrote my film theory final paper on the pie scene, but the amount of life that has happened to me recently I'm scared to revisit it. Feels like it might hit a bit too close to home now.
I’d say it’s not more or less forgotten than any other A24 movie. 🤔 Maybe not as “big” as others. But then again which ones are. All a matter of personal taste.
I'd say movies like Hereditary and Midsommar are pretty big and well-known A24 movies. Like movies that your average person probably knows about or has seen. In my own personal experience, I've never brought up this movie to someone and had them know what it is.
@@xaybeast522 thats true. 👍🏼 What I meant was. Even though they have a few bigger ones that a broader audience knows… at the same time they have lots of other movies, that the broader audience not knows… and I guess is not even somewhat interested in. I generally have a feeling - for a film like this - you need a certain mindset / interest / curiosity to get into it. Or to be willing to approach it. I mean - I don’t have to tell you this - but if you read comments or “reviews” about it… it’s very clear - it’s not really made for them. Meaning, the broader audience. 😁
@@taffeylewis1176 Very good point!
This captures exactly why I wanted to be a ghost hunter when I was younger. I wasn’t just seeking thrills. I had it in my mind that I could help them somehow.
@@chrishestand1 I’ve never heard this perspective on ghost hunting before. That makes it really wholesome!
@@xaybeast522 I mean. At the time I thought so too, but it ended a relationship. I’m sure the sight of me shouting at nobody to help them cross over night after night made me seem like a crazy person. Which I probably DID appear to be. I just didn’t think it was fun and games. They weren’t talking to me for MY entertainment. They all seemed the same in a way. Trapped. Confused. Scared. To me it was the same thing as helping anyone who was stuck somewhere. I just wondered what it might be like if I was the dead one stuck between worlds. How desperate for help would I be? How incredibly alone would I feel?
Such an amazing film it shouldve received awards, can you talk about Kazn a Russian film about a serial killer the Cinematography is awesome its a hidden gem theres only trailers on CZcams nobody talks about it
This moving really gave me a sense of panic of being stuck in a place. They did so much with little dialogue

This made me cry like a Stone cold bitch just listening to this. I saw my daughters mother die from doing fentynal a couple of months ago. And this hit so hard in my feels.
@@BPF80MCar-vi1pg I am so so sorry for your loss. We can never predict when that kind of pain will come into our lives. But, I wish you the best, and I hope more than anything that you’re doing well.
Love the ending, "what the hell is in the note" I asked at first... yet the true beauty of the story is that it doesn't matter. Let go.
Never mind, you actually mention it in the end.
I'm sorry I feel I need to disagree- I LOVED the hype. It reminded me of the studio hype around Batman. I can separate the hype and marketing from the movie and as I have seen so many I have high expectations with or without the marketing. I love it when a studio embraces social media- releasing clues and codes- and engages the audience and general public in a reciprocal relationship. I think more studios should engage in the conversation with the audience, and I hope other studios will embrace this marketing idea. It become more of a standard- especially with thriller/horror/sf.
@@angelagiilis3627 This is a fantastic point!
Oh I loved this film. Quiet and touching. Never occurred to me that anyone would find it pretentious.
Did I read correctly that this movie has only a $100,000 budget? If that is correct, it is incredibly impressive.
@@flazada Yep, that’s correct. Pretty sure it was all self-funded as well. Everyone who worked on it pitched in a little bit to add up to that budget.
Since 2018, I have lost my sister, Mother and brother. I don't think I have yet grieved for them. I think this film found me for a reason. Thank you Xaybeast.
This is one of the most beautiful films I have ever seen.
Movie was junk
A favorite, quite underrated.
I think it was a good movie but it was advertised as being something it wasn’t. I thought it was going to be very disturbing and gory horror film, but it was more of a thriller. Nick Cage killed it though, wish we got to see his characterdo more
It's been this way for a few big horror movies lately, Barbarian had the same type of marketing and hype, "scariest movie you'll ever see", etc. And it was a great movie- fun, creepy, absolutely worth seeing.... But was it scary? Not really tbh. Same with Longlegs, enjoyed it but it didn't 'wow' me or impress me scariness-wise. I also thought the ending took it way down. I would have much preferred no-supernatural qualities in the movie Can't really believe any marketing for movies these days, but ESPECIALLY not horror movies. I'm still going to go see any horror movie that looks interesting but I'll never get my hopes up for something that will ever raise the bar for scariness.
@@user-xj3in5gv4p Part of me thinks we have been somewhat desensitized to horror as a genre because at this point, every possible scare has been done in hundreds and hundreds of movies. It would truly take a miracle for a new horror movie to be genuinely terrifying now I think. Even though I liked Longlegs, I would say that nothing in the movie felt like a new type of scary. I think it’s getting harder and harder to scare audiences nowadays because of how much we’ve seen.
@@xaybeast522 I think you're right, sadly lol. We've just hit the threshold
