I wanted to comment on the need for Sofia to touch Nat. There is a video on the internet somewhere of a press event in which Pedro Pascal touch his costars arm to get her attention and then grabs her hand. He was having a bit of an anxiety attack and needed comfort from a friend. I think that sometimes watching back the job you’ve done can spark a similar need to connect. Especially with someone who experienced it with you. Given that Brazilians are very physical in their affections between friends anyway, and Sofia and Nat are really good friends, this always makes sense to me when I see it. I’ve seen the wlw fandoms go a little too far shipping actresses irl so I feel the need to speak up sometimes to make sure we don’t take it too far. Natalia has already mentioned some harassment about her and Sofia and some people coming at her sideways about other people in her life. Just a note about SW (which I found very boring), the actresses seemed very nice and lovely but I need to be honest. The love scenes on SW were dry as toast. Stale. Chaste kissing, noticeable discomfort actually touching or kissing body parts, stiff as a board. They had 3 seasons and not once did they ever bring a moment of just raw intense passion. I'd venture to guess that given 3 seasons to do it, Xeque could very well serve up intimacy ones we actually get to the part of the story where it makes sense. I get that people like their love scenes more PG, thats cool. I prefer HBO over ABC Family. I know early on some people checked out of Xeque because the 3some scene was too much and I've seen people say they don't like she's cheating on her husband. To each their own but I need you to at least seem like you're comfortable kissing (and yes that means sometimes using tongue or deep kissing) or touching each other and they never did on SW. SW often felt like watching two virgins (it also did not help that both actresses look very very young on camera - like teenagers).

I feel like people did not understand this episode? There was not supposed to be emotion behind it from Gio's side besides anger, resentment and some lust as she said. In episode 7 after Chris basically yelled in her face and told her she was a terrible officer, she told Maya she needed to see her later. It was at that moment she decided she was going to get back at Chris by having her way with his wife. Maya understood that because she was there when Chris humiliated her. Gio going over there, Maya saying she's different tonight and Gio telling her she feels anger and resentment was clear. And thats why she said 'I'll give you everything you need.' Giovanna was more aggressive than she had been through the whole season because of what happened with Christopher. She said she wanted to make him pay. Maya was trying to make her feel better by making her dinner and everything but Giovanna was still effected by the thing with Christopher. Maya is clearly falling for Gio. Gio still isn't there yet. She has feelings but in this episode her primary focus is on having her way with Christopher's wife because he just talked to her like she was nothing. That is why she pushed for Maya to admit that she wanted her while they were playing pool and in the sex scene she was the dominant one - she needed to take something from Maya and Maya understood and let her. I thought the love scene showed that perfectly. This was NOT a moment for a soft or loving scene, Gio had been clear about being pissed, why she was there and what she needed/wanted in that moment.

BTS are always more intense because there is no music filter, so you hear everything whether they want you to or not. Another reason is like all shows they have to film the scenes multiple times sometimes back-to-back to get the angles needed for post so the body can be highly stimulated and involuntary actions do occur. Its why most actors hate love scenes cause to many people stand around while your visibly horny and you may pop so to speak. There's a reason most prefer closed sets with minimum people and need breaks to emotionally recover. The body doesn't understand its pretend even if the brain does.

I actually like the way you pointed out the missing of actual directions in terms of the atmosphere that should be created during the love scene, I hadn't noticed that and I completely agree with you. It's okay that they are directing their movements but I think that if they gave them directions on how the characters are feeling in the love scene and they atmosphere of the love scene this two will know how to bring it out. Like in episode 8 we could feel the raw sexuality in their love scene more than in this scene. I also do think its the editing because in episode 8 we were shown more of their love scene than in their scene in episode 5. Its the way Natalia's breath was caught when Sofia touched her 40:46

I tend to feel like Xeque Mate is a bit softcore-ish in general (especially as a Canadian, not a Brazilian which apparently means more sex scenes, lol) but I think that sex scene was very intimate when you consider the characters. They're not really gentle cuddles people, at least at this point. I feel like them suddenly being sensual eye contact and gentle touches romantic love scene would be too big of a shift right now. We'll see where they end up, though. The vulnerability I saw from Maya in that scene was mostly what told a story for me, as well as the amount Giovanna was giving and caring. Though I can also see that they could have had more of a contrast between the sex scenes to make it more interesting and feel more of a journey. The biggest difference I feel like I see from the pool table scene to now is the eye contact was much higher here. I feel like last time they checked in, but his time they were looking deep and consistently. I can't remember if that was there in the threesome though.
