Very nice. Looking to get into this more, but actually just did my first grass strip landings today at a small strip at the farm the FBO owners have. CFI following along for the first one, then sat back and watched for a couple more. Definitely a different feel and makes you look at the surrounding terrain much differently afterwards. Also just got my private checkride scheduled for Sept 26, so looking forward to that as well. On another note, was great getting to meet you and talk briefly at Oshkosh.
bro dont even know he just landed on a island similar to jeffery epstiens island and actually had connections to john wayne gacey or the people who ran the ring on the island did also if that tent and stuff was pre 80's good chance it was one of the old stash spot for one of the adults who did tho horrific acts in the 70's plus if everything is maintained good chance they are still doing things on the island plus in 2024 those cabins and house are actually locked up
I am based in WI. When you say you fly to the farm, is that a published airstrip on a sectional chart, or personal private land? Any chance I could also get permission to land and camp there for a night?
Completely un developed. Just like the children there. Very good. Very cool
Nice sweatshirt! Leadville. Called that place home for a little while
The Wilson's Bar has a good history. My Judo instructor grew up there. As a child she told me of stepping on a rattlesnake with her bare foot. A love that part of the world!
Very cool👌
I made a version of this last night at home. Didn’t have basil, but added some mustard powder for a little kick. The whole family loved it! They also want to try it with broccoli as the veggie and with chicken added.
Nice! And, yeah, I can see mustard being a nice addition!
I was at your seminar at Airventure then flew over this island on the way home. Might be the stop on the way to Osh next year. Was the axe there or did you bring it?
There is a maule and a couple axes there so you can process wood as necessary. I went there once after leaving Oshkosh. Just about broke my brain going from a place with hundreds of thousands of people and thousands of planes to an island that only had a single plane when I got there and they soon departed, leaving me the whole place to myself.
Sidnaw? Fun UP strip. Some great sights just north of there.
Yep! Sidnaw!
AWEsome flight!!
Yes it was!
Rich, enjoy your channel and hope to get into airplane camping and cooking myself, what model is your maule?
The one in this video is an M7-235C. It was destroyed in a storm and has been replaced with an experimental Maule that's similar to an M7.
You not gonna mention Brother Paul's Children's Mission? Project delta? CIA affiliated pedophiles? I wonder who’s at south fox island nowadays.
Abandoned yet you sign in soon as you land i saw in another video? Who checking the flight log to make sure you do and why if it abandoned?
I worked at US Customs and 90% are good employees. I've always said that there's more corruption inside of Customs than the people trying to bring illegal things in.
What lunch is on this island
If the Short allowed comments I would have suggested watching this video.
Very cool!
I look forward to the Oshkosh seminar!
Thanks Badger!
8:30 Can't make it to Oshkosh this year - it overlaps with a 4 week camping trip to Canada's Arctic... Your seminar would be very helpful! We won't be cooking much on the trip, meals will be very basic. We did a trial run packing the plane for weight and balance; the 15 gallons of extra fuel we'll have to carry in the cabin means that any sort of fun camp cooking just isn't possible. Peanut butter sandwiches, dried sausage, apples and whatever we can forage along the way.
Will miss seeing you Glen, but sounds like an acceptable excuse for missing!
Isn’t that a pedophile island
Bucket list golf courses. Glad you had fun. The metal stand you were wondering about at the narrow strip looks like a deer feeder to me.
I wonder if that strip is there for crop dusters.
I thought about that, but an airtractor has a 59’ wingspan and this strip is 60 ft, so I didn’t think that could be it.
Great video. Just what I needed today.
What a lovely trip! Looks so peaceful! Is the lake as cold as I think it is? xD
It was!
What brand of tent is this?
White Duck, bell style. I'm a big fan.
narrow yes, short not
Short?
Fun video to watch. I love the Idaho backcountry airstrips. The last place at Ryan looked so fun with all of you and the cooking at the shelter. Thanks for sharing.
That was a very memorable day!
Felicidades!!!!
A tireless breakfast, but still some great tips! Especially about the bacon
Love your dog!
We do too. :-)
Excellent Video, Subed
Thanks for the sub!
Did you paint your headset?
I was having a problem with it, so left the packing protection on thinking that I might want to return it. Lightspeed has been great in terms of engaging in problem solving, so it looks like I'm going to keep them.
@@RichWellner Ah - I'm looking at ways to visually alter mine, to make them less recognisable.
He's not doing it anymore, but there was a guy doing water transfer printing, aka hydrographic dipping, on aviation headsets and getting fun results. Might be something worth looking into.
I really like that tent - I really wish I had the space to take one with us this summer.
Sounds like it's time to get a 206... ;-)
it'd be one way to slim down... no time for eating after you set it up! 😉
I love breakfast for supper. Great video!
Just watched where you go 48 gals. OF gas 12 gal pet he. And you used your pkone to figure it. Can t believe you DON T know times tables This country is in a world of hurt if true
Oh, tick-tock goes the math clock! Slurping up 48 gals of go-juice and a pet-sized 12 gal-look at that calculator go, buzz buzz! If the times tables have flown the coop, we're all riding the tech-broom to tomorrow-town, aren't we? What a hoot if it's true!
I would have thought pasta would be hard to bring camping (fragile and all) but looks like a great option!
Pasta is a fantastic camping option! It's Lightweight. You can get water most places you would want to camp. Lots of toppings you might make for it requires no refrigeration or only an ingredient or two that does. This dish, for example, had no ingredients that needed to be refrigerated. Butter and block parmesan are both fine with only the precaution to not leave them in the sun.
Well, the shoutout was the cherry on top! My wife and I were watching your video and had to rewind it twice to make sure it was us you mentioned! Dish looked fantastic and the flying was nice too!! Looking forward to the next video! Fly safe!
Your comment the other week made my day. :-)
Rich, is your roller concrete? When I had my strip, we created a runway roller out of a 6.5’ long sono tube filled with concrete when I was finishing up pouring our driveway.
Nope, just water. Even with just water it's almost 10,000 pounds. The tank alone is almost 2K. The water is another almost 8K.
Awesome video! I love pasta so I'm going to try this for sure. Thanks for sharing.
Another good video. Looks like you forgot to take the blue plastic off your new headset. I just got the Delta Zulu’s as well, yet to fly with them though.
I have an unresolved problem with them. Leaving them “factory new” until we forgive things out.
Another nice video
Flying, cooking and eating...all bases covered
We went down to Carbondale, so we weren't far from ya.
How was the crowd there? We were worried it would be extra crowded there, but it didn't really look like it.
@@RichWellner It was surprisingly good. I think the weather on Sunday scared a few people off, but camping was nice Sunday night, and Monday was fun watching arrivals. There was a mass exodus as you might imagine immediately post-eclipse, but after getting a couple apps at the FBO's restaurant and waiting a couple of hours (watching the large conga line of idling jets, that looked expensive), there were only a handful of planes left and we were able to depart immediately.
@@AlanMillard Yeah, we did the same. Chilled out eating our pasta and watching the planes for 90 minutes or so. When we left 90% of the planes were already gone. First engine start was 2.5 minutes after totality. 😂
@@RichWellner Hey they checked it off their list and have very important business meetings to attend.
That looks delicious!
Why you calling me out in your description😢
Is this not the Maule that crashed at Schaumburg?
I prefer "was destroyed" instead of "crashed" since it was a storm that broke the tie down ropes, not a crash. But, in any case, that one was totaled. This is a different one. :-)
Why is there fuel tanks there?
... because it is an airport...?
@@Keys879 rarely straight infront of the runways 🤣🤣🤣
That’s pretty funny
