I tried it .. and the short answer for me is no .. its not really worth it. I would rather just buy a camera dedicated for videos with optical stabilization system.

Would you advice someone to install on a Al canon 650d ?

There seems to be no evidence for direct correlation between the death of the camera and the magic lantern firmware, although the video presents the information hinting as if there were. In other words, what are the probabilities that your camera would’ve died similarly as it did had you used it the same amount that you did but without magic lantern? Without this information, it is not scientific to jump to conclusions. It would be very interesting to perform an experiment where some (at least 4-10) identical cameras purchased at the same time half of them with magic lantern, installed and half of them without, and then all of them taken for the same rides and taking the same shots for X amount of years and then at the end of those years see which ones have failed and which ones have not. Clearly, an expensive experiment which would require a lot of patience.

This video doesn't do the camera justice. Just get one and try it. I have an R6, and I thought it was going to be behind in comparison, but it actually outperformed my R6 for action. For short, the EVF is inferior in my opinion to an OVF, more crap the camera has to process.

I mean its night and day, Raw is amazing

One of the reasons why I downsample my data rate on my TL build. It's the opposite of what Raw is. Better had you stuck with 0.9x CBR than overclocking the video. Raw will overheat your camera if you aren't careful.

I only use my camera for stills but ML has made it so much easier to adjust for exposure on the display of my T3 and allowed for me to use every bit of that sensor that Canon locked away.

5DMk lll for photography is still an outstanding camera in terms of image quality and can go toe to toe with any modern - 2024 camera. Some of its great qualities are its 100% field of view, color science, ergonomics, auto focus system, dual card slots, and overall durability make it a keeper. Thanks for your accurate video presentation.

may i ask roughly how many actuations were on the camera prior to its ceasing to function?

5D Mrk iii + Sigma 15mm EX-DG, 24mm & 50mm, 70-300mm EF.

Anyone know what the specific cord is called on the 120d Mk 1? Mine failed & I don't know how to find a replacement. It's XLR to... some tiny 4 pin plug. I try to look for it, but it's hard when you don't know its name & it's discontinued. On the upgraded MK 2 version, they got rid of it & just went to XLR to XLR.

Still stand alone in 2024 love my 5D mark iii

Overused; massively, massively overused. I swear people overcrank these days because they can, not because they should. They do it without motivated use for it at all. Now, I'm not against the use of overcranking, but when it's being used for a reason, when it's motivated and as a creative choice. Kubrik has a lot to say on the overuse of slow-mo today. Good video by the way, solid advice.

I think it would make sense to have more than one dedo to really sell the effect, and I would personally add a tiny beat of camera shake to the side shot, maybe not so much between camera and car, but between camera car and background, since the car doesn't "glide" around unless it's a Bentley I guess. Try to find broken camera for cheap so you can Frankenstein your camera and make it alive again

2 reasons for getting the 5D Mkiii in 2023. Used on MPB it is under $600 with a shutter count under 50k, that is amazing. The next reason is for mostly long exposure night photography such as the stars, light painting, city scapes at night etc. FF is the way to go for long exposure and MF too but the latter is way out of my budget.

i have canon 550D, canon 650D, canon 70D and canon 5D mark iii and all of them installed magic lantern for the last ten years without any problems

downgrading the firmware may have fixed it
