Modified the exhaust, on my Predator 212 by removing muffler, rotating manifold 180° from straight up to straight back. Then took 3/4" galvanized electrical tubing (Home Depot $10) used a pipe bender to make it drop down and run along top of the drive shaft pipe. Cut across tube opening at top (about an inch), so it fits over manifold outlet. Used stainless hose clamp to hold it in place. Also used 5 hose clamps to hold new exhaust pipe to top of drive pipe. New exhaust pipe stops 2" from prop. Very quiet cause the sound comes out 7' behind me and under water. Seems to run a bit faster than with original top muffler.

The mudskipper #0 speed prop is probably what you guys are after it's not the standard 6.5 diameter with a 5 inch pitch it's a 6 inch diameter with a 7 inch pitch might want a stage 1 for the prop should see roughly 20mph should work better for the 1232 then a 1432. The prop should work on the beaver tail I think is what you said you have. I personally don't like the larger d.a. props as easier to break. Most people don't realize mudskipper sells speed props. #0 to #8 in speed props most don't research and doesn't realize pitch is more important then diameter! Interesting video btw. I just stumbled upon an old ammo can, that like an idiot I placed on the floor of a storage building. It was packed with expensive OO buck and many of them hae some corrosion on the brass. I'm just curious of one thing. Their have been stories of penetrating oils leaking in around the primer and killing it. Has that been a problem? Or is it just that you do it quickly, wipe it off, and everythign is fine? I'll probably use your method anyway--the ammo is already compromised so I might as well use it up. On the range at least, not sure I would trust it for a critical role (like HD). Thanks for the info. I spent enough on the ammo, I'd hate to throw it away.

Great video. I am in the process of considering getting a Longtail to replace my 15 hp Johnson. My Johnson is barly used and in great shape. I am just not comfortable using & maintaining a surface motor . I fish on a creek with plenty little branches that lead to isolated honey holes. I have access to a river but will not venture to the ocean. I have two small Grandsons that I want to take out with me. I am 210 they are 11 and 8 years old. Top speed isn't a issue of me as I just like to putt putt down the creek and fish. My boat is a 14×36 aluminum Jon boat. Question do you think the 212 Preditor will be enough for my needs. I was thinking about the 13 hp. Can you give me your opinion on my needs. Note: I am new to power boating and not.looking to race abuse or test the creek or river. Just want to go where the fishing is less populated. Thanks for excellent video and presentation! Semper Fi

Longtails aren’t hard to maintain at all. The 212 (and any SD engine) is a general purpose engine. Just like in a lawnmower or power washer. Just change the oil occasionally and add grease to the shaft. The old grease will push out the bottom. (Most longtails don’t have seals). The 212 should push you and your grandsons about 10mph on full throttle. The shorter shaft is easier to manage than longer shaft. The small kit (this one) comes with 65” shaft (in video) and I believe an 85”. You can do a 65” shaft on the 13hp but it’ll have a harder time staying in the water. For your needs, I’d get the 212. If you want more power, you can spend 100$ and upgrade it. I have another couple videos coming out on the upgrade.

The Beaver Dam owner, Mr. Robert Milner is First Rate! We were in constant contact via chat and calls, as I dialed in my set-up.
