Extra 300 knife-edge crash accident by Lou Cosme. I remember turning my ailerons stick but the plane did not respond to roll level the wings. I was using a new remote. There were a lot of things in my inexperience that contributed to this outcome.
Sbach build progress #3 with DLE-20RA

I started step 1 with the hardest part; the engine. I will do the rudder 2nd, so that I don't have wings or the horizontal stabilizer in the way. 3rd I will do the wings so that when I install the horizontal stabilizer I can have the wings to measure the stab distances on the left and right. Then permanently install the receiver. Then the Cowl, and finally the pilot in the canopy. This is the b...

Where did you pick up the carbon version?
Tower hobbies. The 65.5” It’s not what’s listed but it is what they send you. I thought I was receiving the one on their website, but I got this one instead, and so did someone else that ordered it.
Take it out put it in take it out put it in? 👀
oh yeah! 😂
I learn my lessons from thouse fragile foamis,, they can’t take any damage!! I covered them in lightweight glass/carbon fibre,, than they became almost unbreakable!! It’s takes some time to do but it’s definitely worth it!! If you crash the frame won’t shatter in to pieces, and much easier to fix!!
Thanks Lou I just received mine and it is a joy to see that it has carbon reinforcements, and it also comes with the appropriate manual. I hope to see how you finished putting it together and the flights soon. Thank you very much and good luck with your new projects.
Hello Lou. I have followed your videos and the Towehobbies review. with the Sbach 442. When do you finish it and fly? Is there any particular comment and if you reinforced any special area. ? greetings and luck
Hello, I did finish it, and I've been flying it. I also took some videos of the entire plane completed and some flying videos when I first started flying it, and landings. I hope to have the final video with all the details uploaded by this weekend. Which will also include some flying. I did not reinforce any areas. I did add a metal bracket to the bottom, right behind the motor, to use it to attach screw-on weights to it so that I can get the CG forward which was way back. I think a 35cc engine would have worked good in there as well. I'm just swapping the propeller right now to see if I can get a slight improvement on the performance that I'm looking for. However, I am having a really good fun time flying it as is. I'm just looking for a little stronger pull out vertical from a hover. Maybe next year I can possibly upgrade the DLE20 if anything. I like the size because it fits comfortably in my jeep. ... Hope to see more of these flying.
Thanks for the share!
Will a DLE 30 fit without sticking out?
I will say yes it will fit because I have plenty of room. I’ve been flying this. I have to post my final video on it with some flight videos. I’m actually considering going up to a DLE 30 for it myself. I have to fly a few more times to decide but so far it’s flying good.
@@LouCosmeRC-ov2ol Thank you
I hate to see a fellow flier crash. I've had mine for five years in the UK starting with 3700 and now 4000. At no time did I consider putting any nose weight on board. It flies beautiful 3D and F3A equally. Are you sure you had a C of G issue? I have never felt the need to put balance weight on any BNF model in the 11 years I've been flying them. On a model of that size I doubt if 2oz of nose weight is going to make much difference anyway. My lipos are pushed as far back as they'll go. I hope you got it repaired and flying again.
It'll buff out
😂😂😂
She still has a pulse. Get me a multi tool, a bottle of ca, and some packing tape stat!
😂👍🏼
I don't understand for the life of me why you use the word "Build"???
All part of the hobby as we know brother. You’re wife’s a keeper for sure. I like your analytical approach too, I can relate. How do you add lead in terms of amount and what do you use? Not coins right? Thanks, happy flying 🇨🇦👍✈️
I'm happy y for you amen
3:15 Sounds, of a Not so sponsored video.....lol...Sorry bud

opps went bum
We've all been there. Bummer, man. I like your positive attitude and the fact that your wife got you another one also is a huge bonus! Buy her some flowers or something.
It happens, most of the time when the new plane is flying good, my co rc guys do it all the time, I always say when you get it flying take it easy for a few flights, but we all know how that goes.
The first few flights I was a little scared of it myself but now I’m starting to get a little comfortable with it and I’m going to increase the elevator linkage to get more throw. Good luck with yours happy flying.
Great plane in fantastic colours, especially underneath. Scared of blinking when flying mine for fear of losing it. I couldn't cope with rates on 3 seperate switches, got my low rates on 50%, occasionally flick up to 75% - but not for long. I put 100g / 3.5oz up front on mine. Good video
Well, they're only new once. I lost one today. Not pilot error. But it was a pretty new plane. And I was expecting to get a couple of years of fun out of it.
Sorry to hear you lost an airplane today yourself. I just uploaded a video of the new plane. Same model but new. So far is flying really good. Been flying it for a few weeks now. I'm getting used to it and I can't seem to stop flying it. Having fun with it. Hope you can get yours fixed. Good luck and fun flying.
Jus sum glue
Low rates and a nose heavy cg are no good with a 3d plane
Low rates and this bird never ends up well. Sorry for your loss, Unlike some people I believe in remaidens and sometimes it takes a bit of tinkering to get a RC plane sweet. My rule is that if the parts required to repair a crash is more than 50% of cost of a new one I scrape the plane and buy either a different plane or another of the same plane. Only exception to my rule is my Draco 2.0m which was only slightly more than 50% because I have 250+ flights on it.
Too much fun, Lou, Low rates get us every time.... ONE setting
It is foam, if you would be willing to spend required amount of time with the right type of glue you could make it flying again. I would use Titebond polyurethane glue like . But not everyone has that privilege to spend hours fixing from the scraps.
You’re right. I have so much work to do over the summer that I’ve pushed out the repair attempt to the winter months.
A plane's airframe gets 1 maiden; ever. There is no re-maiden.... "official maiden" or any other kind.
It is a good flying plane once set up right sorry about the crash adding nose weight does help one of the fliers at my field and to add weight up front to handle better good video glad the wife got you another one now you have a beater plane and a fun flyer 😊😊😊👍👍👍
Please get rid of that radio. trust me it`s junk.
He flew it into the ground..don't blame the radio....his angle on his knife edge was downhill all the way..he flubbed up..obviously he is a great pilot..stuff happens.....I've used HIS Brand TRANSMITTER for 20 years..never lost radio signal...trust me !!!
You held a knife edge, went low on the downwind, didn't increase rudder authority to hold the knife on the downwind, got last minute confused where to roll out for recovery.
That sure does sound pretty accurate! 😂
@@Cosme422 I've been flying 3D for over 15 years, by eye I can tell where the sticks are twitching when a panic occurs just by looking how the plane is being flown and maneuver orientation. lol
Did the pilot realise it was a belly-to-pilot knife edge when he applied the (wrong way) roll-out? Being a bit too far away and hedge, not sky, in the background didn't help. My wife cried when I took a chunk of wing off on a football goalpost on my first landing with my first own-design plane. We've both got good wives!
ill take the remains if you dont want them lou lol, its eamon btw
Dang, bad luck. But, hey, some glue and you are back in business. That plane is easily repairable. Understanding Wife, priceless!
I got this exact plane and I hate it…. Flies like a rock with wings.
I built the new one; same model; and I've been flying it for about a month now. The more I fly it the more I'm getting used to its characteristics. I'm having fun flying it, but I am going to re-do the elevator link this weekend to get more throw for better 3D performance, because the way the manual has the setup it doesn't cut it for 3D. Even in high rates. Its better at aerobatics. More down throw on the elevator should get me to perform the maneuvers I can do with my other planes. I hope! Good luck! Happy Flying!
Probably your Spekjunk transmitter
Pipe down becky. Has nothing to do with the transmitter
WOW!! Has your wife got a sister? I would like to meet her!🙂
😂😂
Awful, I empathise. Got 100g up front on mine, that's 3.5oz , flies great but I'm scared of it
Scared because it flies like a rock with wings…. Right ?
@DavidRitchie-tr2rn bullet shape rock, on 50% rate and 50% expo, keep switching up to 75% rates - but not for long. Can't blink while flying it, I'll lose it :-(
It happens to everyone of us brother. That 300 is one of my favorite planes. You hit hard at almost full throttle!. I dusted a jet a couple of weeks ago. :( Hey I'll bet your new 300 will fly perfect out of the box
Damn sorry to hear about your jet. My new 300 is flying beautiful! I love it! I did put the 2oz up front right from the box. I have some videos of it that I’ll be putting up next week. Good luck, fun flying!
@@LouCosmeRC-ov2ol thanks Lou! It's been 15-20 mph winds for a couple of damn weeks here. I'm dying to get some flying in.
@@HciContractor The winds don’t seem to want to tame down this year! We get a few ok days far in between. Happy flying!
So sorry to see that Lou. It was flying really well.
Oh No! Bummer dude. Pretty plane.
Oh my goodness! Don't torture your servos by moving the servo arm by hand! It's a good way to strip the gears.
Your getting there. Looks great.
Yo Lou it’s Eamon, I was wondering if you think it’s safe to try to run a COX 0.49 baybee engine on ethanol lol
I only experiment if it’s safe! lol
Awesome!!!
thats a serious bird you have there it filled with carbon fiber and looks powerful and mean
Hey Lou Im Joe im like you love the eye candy on my planes/boats/trucks/cars etc Id love to see more from you like some flights on some of your models. Im new to your channel and gave you a like and sub and keep them coming bud and lm from PA maybe we can meetup this season and fly some birds at your field. Thanks for sharing👍👍👍👍👍
Hi Joe, Sounds like a plan! and I definitely have a few hot videos in the oven that I will start uploading soon. Catch you later, thanks!
The g1 was an awesome flying plane. I thought the same about the color. The website makes it look a lot brighter and almost metallic. In reality it's like flat army green. Also had some concerns about quality control. Iv gotten a couple planes with crooked rudders. Def not supposed to be like that. I had trouble with programming arua 8. Couldn't get crow mode to activate and it started doing weird stuff. I got zero response from customer support after 3 attempts at contacting them. But I got over it quick once I figured it out and flew it. Never got crow working until recently tho. I had to wrap the wheel pants with green vinyl. The white was terrible. And the canopy glass was kinda crappy. As well as the lenses for the lights were dingy as hell. I do wish the roll rate was a bit better. Mine seemed a little under powered with 6500mah ovonic batteries. It barely had enough power to hover. I'm gonna try better smaller batteries this season. I got an avian esc for reverse thrust and plan on making it 8s and doing some fpv flying. But I enjoy it. Definitely has a big presence. People love seeing it fly. Good luck enjoy!
I'm thinking of buying one of these aircraft fro Tower and so I want to follow the full build and find out if it's straight forward or whether you have any problems. Make sure you spend time showing where you put the CG and what you needed to do to balance it. Much appreciated.
Just assembled it last night and packing it up to maiden now. Posting the assembly video next week and it shows a few of the flaws. Not too bad though.
Check it out the paint believe it or not is black light reactive glows like neon it looks amazing under black light . Unfortunately I had a lot of finish issues with mine. Dents and glue all over the place and the foam is real soft and will dent easily. I can nit pick mine ti death but it is what it is still looks great in the air
Can't wait to see it completed.
worst quality of any foamy I ever assembled, they fly great and are engineered well, but thes fit and finish is atrocious. I had dents all over the bottom and top of the fuse, the paint was splotchy and looked like two different colors. barely enough paint to call it a paint job. If I got one with a dented canopy, I'd send it back, 700 bucks, you expect a certain level of quality. I ended up repainting most of the fuse. UNLESS CUSTOMERS COMPLAIGN NOTHING WILL EVER CHANGE.
and what I found is that the paint stuck to the bags, and when I took the wings out of the bags, the paint kind of peeled off the wings on the corners smh
