Sorry people are not serious in these comments. You will not be in the gym the next evening. It is painful during the physiotherapy afterwards. Your soft tissues have basically been ripped apart so pain is guaranteed. I had this done a week ago and am doing exercises 5x day with physio appts 3x week.

Overall good info. Having suffered for seven years, I don’t believe it eventually goes away. I had therapy, then a steroid injection, thank barbotage, then surgery. The calcium deposit was so large. It left a defect in my tendon, so that had to be repaired. I had some other issues as well, requiring a labral, clean up and biceps tenodesis.

My shoulders had been getting grumbly for years, and then one day I had the most intense pain I've ever experienced. Went to GP who told me I'd had a tendon break, and tried to get me a scan, but the hospital refused. He suggested I go to A&E then they'd have to have a look. When I told them it 'just happened' and there was no obvious bang to it or anything they refused an xray and told me it was tendonitis. Here's some painkillers now move it as much as you can. Meanwhile I used my private health insurance to see a specialist but the wait was still going to be 7 weeks.. After a couple of days of agony despite anti inflammatories and paracetamol with codeine I was running out of what they had given me so back to the GP to talk pain management for the next 7 weeks.. Saw a different doc who told me it was a third thing and would refer for an ultrasound. In the meantime, keep moving it as much as I can and here's some even stronger codeine and paracetamol and loads more naproxen. The NHS ultrasound, 6 weeks of agony and disability later, took 2 minutes and showed acute calcific tendonitis. The GP said he could do cortisone in a few days, but as my specialist appointment was around the corner I said I'd wait for that. He arranged ultrasound guided barbotage, which is a newer procedure than this video even, and should be option 4 in a new vid! They poke around with a big needle to break up the calcium and suck as much out as possible, then do the steroid injection at the same time. A couple more days of soreness and then life changing relief. Had I been xrayed that first time they could have told me to immobilise it, instead of telling me to keep aggravating it with movement, so I'm mad about that, but overall relieved to have it fixed. I've since had the left one ultrasounded and it too has the deposits, but it's yet to become acute. If it does I'll get straight in to have the barbotage even if I have to sell my dog to pay for it!!!! (not really..)

Great video. I can vouch for the all consuming immense pain of acute Calcific Tendonitis, having given birth more than once with no pain relief, the pain I experienced with ACT was as bad! The onset was exactly as you described in this video. I’ve been a little unlucky, as a year after the ACT I started suffering with Chronic CT in my other shoulder. Physiotherapy has been very useful.

  • @creativegirl9710

What a joke! A person just has bad luck?? Lol! Is that your science? Tendons break down/degenerate due to multiple reasons. Poor diet like the SAD (Standard American Diet) is full of inflammatory foods and most people are on it. It lacks optimal nutrition so sooner or later your body will weaken so where, in some way. Also Lyme disease wreaks havoc on collagen/tendons/soft tissue, etc. So that is WHY people with chronic Lyme have arthritis problems in all their joints AND tendon problems. Perhaps, maybe if you're an athlete and over perform and don't practice good down time you will injure your tendons. However most people are not and the human body is meant to move, move, move. IF you have tendon problems seek a doctor that does regenerative medicine which get good nutrition next to the problem area. Do NOT let any Dr give you steroid shots. Worst thing to do. It will break down the collagen, which has already happened, so it's like putting fuel on the fire.

If you’re in the worst pain and crying and wondering if this will ever end, I’ve been there. I had pain and frozen shoulder issues for years, but a year ago the pain began to intensify. I went to the doctor and without any exam I was sent directly to physical therapy. I spent months in pain doing the PT before a more experienced physical therapist told me to get an MRI. There I found I had bilateral calcific tendonitis, big masses in both shoulders. I read in an old Chinese medicine book that homogenized milk caused it so I decided to quit dairy. I also read that dehydration can cause it, so I drank 60oz of wanted per day. To lower inflammation, I took Motrin around the clock and it helped a little. I still woke from pain every 2 hours. Ice packs helped. I went to an orthopedic doctor and got an ultrasound-guided cortisone shot in each shoulder (my PT advised me to request the ultrasound). I had relief from the intensity of the pain and gained some mobility quickly. Then after a few weeks I had sever pain again in one shoulder and my orthopedic doctor recommended that I have surgery to remove it because the masses were so large. I did another round of shots while I waited for surgery. I scheduled surgery, I prayed that I wouldn’t need it. I went back for an x-ray and after 2-3 months, the calcific deposited were almost all gone. My doctor was amazed! After the 3rd shot within 4 months, one shoulder is back to normal and the other is not too far behind. There is nothing but a dusting left of calcium, the other is clear. I hope this helps you in your journey, don’t give up hope.

  • @vtr-vegasteslarides569

I assume the same can happen in the hip? It crackles when I twist, I guess thats the calcium deposits. I had once a Cortison shot under Ultra Sound and it dissipated, spread the pain out over a larger area, reduced the pain, but eventually came back. I have a feeling of wanting to stretch the right leg till it clicks and then it would be done, but doesnt. So I guess I go back to the sports doc again and see about a more long term treatment. Really bothers me. I think I got an injury from overstretching at the gym, then it wasnt treated and the calcium formed. Maybe also I take too high doses of Vitamin D pills, 10k units a day? 250mg as D3 Cholecalciferol. Does that absorb or deposit? Thanks for the video.
