how to tell how much propane is left in the tank - easy method
zhlédnutí 197Před měsícem
After the tanks cool down at night, in the morning if the sun is shining condensation will form on the tank where there is still propane. No tools required to know how much propane is left in your tank. #propane #offgridliving

Chevy Silverado Keyless Remote Entry Repair

Recently got this 2007 Silverado. The keyless entry was not working. I changed the battery to the FOB, and tried programming from the dash. No luck. I then replaced the part you see in the video, and that did the trick. #silverado #chevrolet #diy #automotive #chevy

Do i need to hook up the gas heater to my gas line? Can i do the same with an electric heater & do those just plug in, or they have to be wired into the electricity?
Until you remove the clamp and it springs straight back
@@flibbertigibbet6200 worked for me and the ceiling is done.
Are you going to make another video on how to replace the center chrome bumper piece? I need to do mine too and wondering how hard it was. Thanks
@@SilveradoPiper Hey that's actually why I removed the bumper. Once you have the bumper off replacing the center chrome piece is very easy. Most of the work is getting the bumper on and off.
Where did you get the shower?
Ace Hardware
Do you have septic or well? Where does the water come from also do you think I would be able to do the same in a single wide mobile home? Great Video!
I do not have septic. I use a composting toilet. I haul my water from a spring. As for the mobile home, I don't see why not.
Basic, but it's a start! Thanks
yw!
Beautiful
thanks friend.
MODEST MOUSE!!!
That’s another way to do it, I usually put a screw or a nail on the side of the wall 2x4, even or just below the wood need ed to move then take my pry bar under the mail or screw and above the bios and pull Down to where it’s need to be then screw down in place. Your method also works, matter of preference. Sure someone does it another way
Is it a gas water heater or electric
lp gas
How does the water pump receive the "on" or "off" signal considering the tank isnt pressurized?
when the water spout is opened, there is a change in pressure on the line. the water pump runs off a pressure sensor that runs only when it senses a pressure drop.
Look up "on demand pumps" and you'll see right away
Don’t waste your time putting those drain tiles in. Put a smooth bore proper pipe.
maybe I'll put something else in. I had this stuff laying around and that is why I used it.
just exhaust in the house? open a window, i assume?
i have CO monitors in my home. I also have a propane heater that is ventless. The amount of CO generated is harmless in my application, but to each there own.
It's pronounced culvert...not 'culavert.'
thanks
Innovative!
thanks!
Now you can sell the rock to someone who is doing some landscaping. Great job.
I'd be a millionaire if that was the case
@@OffGridInvestor hahaha
@@mikeh.753 I am rich in rocks lol
Those are drain tiles, not culverts.
ok thanks for pointing it out. it was given to me I did not buy them, and looked like a small culvert to my untrained eye.
That's a navigable water according to the EPA. lol.
How did you do the drain for the shower?
I built the platform, then cut a 2 inch whole in the floor of my cabin and ran the pipe through this hole.
How do you charge your battery ? We off grid would love to have shower and some electricity
Setting up solar takes a lot of planning, with many variables. But at it's most rudimentary level incoming DC supply from a panel, to a charge control, which goes to the battery bank, as well as DC loads. If you are wanting AC loads you need to wire in an inverter with the battery. Everything is on youtube. I DIY'd my whole system.
@@diywesley2867 thank I figure it out eventually
How is your bump hooked up to get electric
the pump? it's just 12 volt wired into my system
And when you leave during winter, you have to drain it all? How would you do that? I'm about to make the same type of installation. Only difference is that I have a small well to get my water.
I stayed here this winter, so I did not need to do that. But the system could be drained down very easily.
How often do you have to fill up the 55 gallon water tank?
I fill up 4 - 7 gallon water tanks a week. 2 of those I pour in the blue tank, the other two I use for drinking water and they do not go into the blue tank.
How would you go about running cold water 🤔
Split the supply coming off the pump. One line heading into the water heater, the other direct to where you want the cold water.
@@diywesley2867 Oh thats simple enough,I was definitely overthinking that lmao
@@Gdaddygabe lol right. I like the KISS method. 'Keep it Simple Stupid'.
Thank you so much for thoroughly explaining how it fits together! This was very helpful!
You are welcome !
Do you have cold water plumed as well or just keep the hot water at a temp you want it? I'm looking to do something very similar, but i like how you set that up. I'll be using 48 volt dc solar, to a 120 volt ac. Eventually I'll add a breaker box an wire it up right. Do you have any videos of the actual build of your cabin? I just found you're channel and have not looked at all the vids you have posted. Thanks for the great info!
Hello. I only have hot water plumbed for now. It has worked well for my uses. I'm going to do a walk around of my cabin probably this summer or fall. My cabin is 16*24 with an 8 ft deck out front. The rafters are 12/12 pitch.
What is the DC pump plugged into?
12 V DC incoming supply.
Nice Job!
Thanks!
what about cold water
I did not run a cold water line. Very easy to do that if you wanted to add.
Awesome! Where does the used water go?
Outside into the ground.
Exactly what im looking for
Great!
Thanks , there isn't much content on this setup. Based on what you did here, it should work for my place as well. I was concerned it wouldn't push the hot water.
Good luck on your install. It's super simple.
@@diywesley2867would you be willing to share the material cost estimate and your install process? Husband and I just bought a building and are prepping it for mostly off grid living, and this is similar to what we want to do but aren't sure where to start. This is awesome. Great job man 😊
@@myra3476 Really the only expense here is the water heater. You can get this online, I believe they are still around 200 dollars. The one I use is a Gas Land. Beyond that your looking at maybe 100-150 dollars in materials to run the water lines + the DC water pump. Estimates.
I bought one, and was disappointed with the product, overpriced, not even close to complete, you only get enough pipe to barely get through the wall, Duravent doesn't seem to know that roofs have an overhang, or they are just too cheap to give you the extra foot you need to clear the overhang! So, once you are through the wall you will now have to fabricate everything to get far enough out to clear the overhang that every roof I have ever seen has, unless you want to butcher your roof. At around a hundred and fifty bucks for a two-foot piece you can plan on pushing a thousand bucks for your flu and a bunch of headaches, not to mention the dented-up product once removed from the box. Wish I had not purchased this product!
I hear ya bud. Were you able to successfully install the chimney?
@@diywesley2867 Yes, got it installed but it was frustrating and expensive, it's in and working so now it is just a bad memory, and a lighter wallet, lol.
@@msmorgan45 hahaha! Well nice and comfy in time for the snow to fly.
Nice job!
Very nice! I could have used that this past summer when my RV refrigerator was killing my milk and egg life. At the very least, it would be a good backup for the summer or could use it for more freezer space. I thought they were twice that price. $189 is reasonable, for sure.
I thought the same! Only when I saw the one my friend had and found out how cheap it was did I get one. Looking forward to seeing how your build goes.
Nice setup! I'm thinking about putting my on-demand water heater outside for venting. Cased-in with the propane tank. Would run the water line inside the building. It's warm most of the year down here on the Texas coast, but I'd still wrap the water lines on the outside. Can you think of any downside if I do it that way? You have 16" under your cabin, and I'm planning on 24-30" under mine. If so, I could make an access door and install that under the skirted cabin?
I think that is a very good plan. It will save you some space inside the cabin. Not having to deal with a freezing winter is going to make things much easier on you.
I also like the idea of more space under the cabin.
Exhaust ?
I respect frugal thinking! It's going to look very nice also!
Excellent.
Thanks!
LOL This video answered some of my questions from another video. Maybe I should watch all of these, THEN ask my questions! lol
Excellent advice. I want the same size building (16x24). I was wondering about spacing on those concrete blocks. I notice they look evenly spaced, but I can't gauge the distance between them. Also I'm curious about the logic (your guide) used on their placement. Good video. Very helpful.
The carrying beam supports are every 6 feet. I have 4 carrying beams under the cabin.
Heck yes ... Boss of the Swamp bubble wrapped floor and skirting!!! Recently watched every video on his channel. The man is sharp! Your building style reminds me of his work. That may be part of why I'm enjoying your channel so much.
His channel is great. I put reflectix under my joists which makes a huge difference. It also keeps bugs out.
Very good! Are you going to use your famous mesh sand paper to screen them someday?
I was going to, but I have not had problems with bugs. The soffits did not look like a tight enough gradient at first look, but I've watched stink bugs try and squeeze through the vents for 2 years now, and it seems to keep them out.
Was a sweet money saver to get an old RV fridge/freezer!!! Smart. I live near Galveston, and mine doesn't cool good when the temp hits the 90s outside. Freezer does ok, but the refrigerator get far too warm. It's autumn now, so it's going good again.
Did you build the cabin yourself? I've mentioned it before, but it's an outstanding design.
Yes I did build the cabin myself. My dad helped me get the walls up and helped me get the rafters up. I also paid someone to put the shingles on the roof because it was winter. Thank you very much! Kylescabin was my major influence. He did a great series when building his cabin which helped me alot.
@@diywesley2867 I love it. The Boss and Kyle are two of my 'must see' channels. Of course, you're on my list now! Love your build. I'm very excited for you.
@@robertdknight Fantastic. I'm going to do a 'walk through' video of my cabin this spring or summer now that it's pretty much finished inside. Looking forward to your build!
Are you thinking of setting up an Amazon shopping link? A lot of channels do that and some even include links to their tools and each item featured in their videos. Great way to earn a few dollars and also help us viewers to find items you used in each project (and items you recommend).
Probably not. But if you ever have a specific question I am happy to locate an item for you!
Love this video. Very helpful.
Glad you enjoyed it!
cool
Clever using the mesh sand paper. Perfect insect screen for the mushroom vent cap.
Thanks for the video. Super simple and looks easy to add-on panels and more batteries later
You're welcome. Yes I try to 'keep it simple stupid'. I have added another battery and 2 panels at this point.
@@diywesley2867 Excellent (the recent expansion). Heck yes! Big fan of the KISS philosophy.
I’ve got a panel like you and to heavy batter with a Duracell solar unit which sucks looking for a better system this does not charge my batteries though it was recommended 400 dollars wasted😢
New sub. Really love your cabin design. It has all of the elements I want to put in mine. (size, rafter roof, high pitch, porch, window locations, etc.) BTW I think it's a class-act to credit the person you got this method from.
Thank you very much Robert. Hope everything goes well with your build!
