48 volts all the way. On 12-24 you’re limited by efficiency losses and inverter heating up…
So true!!
What was the overall weight?
The fact that they only recommend paralleling 4 of these in a system means I won't buy them, even though the price is great. However, for a small to mid-size system, they will be great!
Wonder why that is... We should be able to parallel as many as we want.
@@TackleThat I don't know. Most rack batteries can be paralled way more. EG4s, for example. I have seen someone build a system with four or five six-battery cabinets.
@@Tumbleweed5150 ya, I plan on hooking up more than 4 lol... 2 DC house batts on their way.
@@TackleThat If it were me, I would try to contact the company and find out why they have that limit. They may say that it is only for smaller systems and the BMS can't handle larger systems. Or they may tell you that it is okay, as long as you fuse the batteries/battery banks after a certain number of batteries in parallel, so it cannot overload wires or the BMSs. Just to say, I would want to know for sure before exceding their printed limit. Oh...after watching this again, I noticed that on the initial sheet you held up, it said 4s1p, yet in the manual, it looked like you could go as much as 4s4p. Again, you may want to ask the company about this discrepency. One or another could be a mis-print, or they included a manual that is for more than one type of battery. Usually, battery companies say that 12.8 Volt batteries can be hooked in 4s4p, but most rack batteries I have seen say not to series the rack batteries, as the BMSs aren't designed for it, and they will offer you a rack battery that is the proper Voltage for the system you want.
Are tjere inverters 24v and 48v?
Sure! 12v, 24 and 48 are very popular, with lots of charger and inverter options.
48v is efficient but expensive
Yeah, a little more... With batteries you have to compare watt hours to watt hours, you will see its not that much more. Sometimes it's the same, like the eg4 batteries.
Hey, do you know where I can get a good fit xt60 connector with the 6mm fit o rings
Something like this? Amazon has a lot of options.. amzn.to/3AOLfeo
*Totally wrong ! TWO 24 volt battery's ( truck battery's in serie ) the really the best !* So much better, than your single 48 volt battery ! Believe me !
24 is solid, some good options there... Just depends on how big your system needs to be!
even aftermarket 6€ moped sprockets have perfect fit if comparing sprockets which come with motor.. dont waste 45$ on lithium king stuff
Nice, thank you!!
@@TackleThat Yeah added short about it but idk where you can find same size sprockets but cheap ones can be good too✌
Is the controller and motor kit from Amazon you used is similar to hotpaxx one?
The one on amazon is a little smaller FD controller, but matches the motor better. Really shouldn't be pushing these motors past 80a, which is what the amazon controller pushes. 100a on hotpaxx, you will need the heat sink and to watch your temps for sure.
What do u think I have 48v hotpaxx battery will I be fine?
@@FabioDirt the 120a continuous? Sure will be.
48V will kill you if you don't know what you're doing... 12v nah not problem unless someone drops the battery on your head..
If you don't know what you are doing you should stay away from both voltages, lol. They both can be dangerous.
The higher the input voltage, the higher the efficiency.
Right on!
The small connect is linked to the BMS… so as the battery is charging, is regulating each string inside with equal voltage
Right on! Just dont know why its 8v on the charge port rather than 52v like the discharge port..
I kind of feel like you missed out something there are a lot of other voltage levels you can do and also many inverters have a input range which bit within that it can be okay
Great point, thanks!
And where do I get that battery is the other one doesn’t work
Do I have to get this exact battery or can I get a different one because there this other battery called caomm battery
Hi there! This is an amorge battery. You can email kenny@amorge.com for more details. Coamm are also really popular, lots of positive reviews amzn.to/3SZuQtP if you dont want to wait about a month, coamm are a good solution.
@@TackleThat but can the caomm battery work with this motor kit
@@HonorPizarro yeah but you will have to turn down the controller to 30a... Or you can put 2 batteries together and do 60a which is where the fun really starts
@@TackleThat how would I do that
@@HonorPizarro just need a Y adapter to go 2 batteries to 1 controller in parallel.
You’re the man! Thank you very much for tackling that. Subscribed!
Thanks for the sub! 😁😁
@@TackleThatif I wanted to put a converter in this setup, would I just go from battery to converter then converter to terminal?
I Like 24V 😊
I got 500 bucks. Can I buy a complete used kit for a Sx500 from you, please?
Wish I had a spare to sell ya!
Did you do springs in the front, or a whole new fork?
Whole new fork, real pit bike forks are much smoother.
Very great video. How would I wire a headlight with on /off switch? Been looking but still seems somewhat confusing
Thanks!! Just wire the headlight up to the + and - on the controller if you have a headlight that can handle the Volts of your battery. Put a switch anywhere on the + lead to turn it on and off as needed.
@@TackleThatThank you. Good idea, I’ll do some research on lights for 72v battery.
@@Deno4076 i got a video coming soon on how I wire mine up!
@@TackleThatawesome.
Here is how I wire my stuff up, check it out! Thanks! czcams.com/video/ZnRcU8Pa3eo/video.html
Thank you so much, I’m engineering my own e bike from scratch and haven’t found a quick concise guide like this. Much love!
Cool to hear, thanks for the feedback!!
Just go to your local junkyard and get battery cables that runs to starter and grown from a diesel truck. Payed like 20 dollars
Nice idea! Thanks!
Can i use the two 48v 15ah scud batteries to make that setup like you have on the yellow and grey bike?
For sure! Just hook them up in parallel, + to + and - to -
@@TackleThat sweet, i have two on the way from shrimp depot. Do you have a video on that build?
@@BlessedDad1819 is it an MX? Only difference is you need to cut out the middle battery tray so it looks like the SX in this video.
@@TackleThat i have the sx500
@@TackleThat just wondering the build details on that yeller one
Hey man what did you do with the white wire? I wanted to use a motor without a temperature sensor, when I wired it up the app showed a temp sensor error. Could not get passed it
Just set the temp sensor in the app to none and you are good!
@@TackleThat wow man I could have saved myself swapping motors. I’m gonna try that if I have any issues with this one. Thanks!
Does this kit come with that red power wire?
I dont think so, but hotpaxx does sell it too.
I’ve been watching many of these videos and they all suffer the same thing … detail. I would recommend a white board and as you add components draw the wire indicating its size.
Good point, thank you for your feedback! The next video will definitely have more details.
Did you manage to find the problem? I have the same issue.
Never did unfortunately, 😭, went far driver and had a lot more luck. Still had issues with an orange wire Kunray... So I don't use those much.
@@TackleThat. I just figured mine out, I connected the thick motor green wire with the controller thick blue (motor phase/green to blue and blue to green from the motor to the controller) and in the hall line/controller 5 wire swap/connect yellow to blue (motor side 5 wire to controller 5 wire /colors, red, black, yellow, green & blue. Connect blue to yellow and yellow to blue) this worked for me. 3000watt 72v controller. Good luck!
@@MoM-ur4yg thank you!! I hope that helps others too!
@@MoM-ur4ygthanks for this. I did as you did and it worked as well. I still don’t have the bike together( I’m waiting for new shocks) can you totally tell a difference from 36v to 48v ? Or should I have went straight to a 72v?
@@jeffhembre4422 yes I have all, 36v 48v & 72v you will definitely notice the difference.. if you are on a budget 48v 2000w it worked fine for me with the right gear ratio( I’m 270lb) 72v has reverse and 3 speeds is fast as hell on my mega moto. I didn’t purchase a battery for it yet/too expensive I’m saving the money for it, I am running 12v emergency exit sing batteries on it.
top speed sorry for the lot of questions
All good!!
U avoiding the top speed pls tell me I need the top speed
Love the build your way more experienced than i am how fast did it go and how long did the battery upgrade take u
Took maybe 20m if I wasn't filming everything lol. Its simple, cut out the old batteries, tie in the new ones with proper crimps and connectors! And go!
how long did the whole thing take u
To upgrade the battery? Maybe 30m or so!
Tweak the angles by 5 degree increments. I have at least a dozen of these motors that run on Votol controllers. They all use different angles.
I did try that, went in each direction till it got significantly worse... Never got better.
It was the angle in the tune. My1020 motors are notoriously difficult to get a tune right for. Votol controllers work very well with them. You have to tweak the angle by 5 degree increments until it runs smoothly. The kr5v is even more difficult to get right, lol. I have 3 of them and one is 125 degrees, the other is 50 degrees. Wildly varying.
I wish it were that easy, tried it to no avail.
Glad to see my cradle is being used :) though, i see you cut it? Did using spacers move up motor and cradle cause interference?
Hey thats cool, awesome design! I don't think there was an issue, i just saw that it would be easier to bolt it right to frame. The end of the motor sits perfectly over the swingarm. I put a little rubber between em.
Did you keep the same charger?
No you have to go up to a lifepo4 charger.
Thanx
👍 Anytime!

so i can use 10 awg to run solar cables on my 48v system?
Sure as long as you don't go over the ampacity rating of the wire!
Shocking can see anything
👍
would you recommend scud battery? I'm looking at getting 2 and running the them the same way you are. Hard to beat 48volt and then 28ah with two of them for only $130
Where are you finding two of them for 130?
Oh yeah, it's a deal... Wont last as many years but Ive had no issues.
Shrimp depot on Facebook razor groups
@@TackleThat yea i got in touch with shrimp but not two of them for 130 he’s selling them 115 for one. Must have been a deal i missed.
@@TackleThat either way a 48v 15ah for 115 is still a slappin good deal. Loving the videos man you really make it simple for those of us that are new and i very much appreciate it. Are you an electrician?
LOL you're an addict
You know it! Haha I sold all the gas ones, its looking better in the garage for sure lol.
I started with one 40 watt panel, now i have four 450 watt panels so i have outgrown my 12v system. I am currently running three 100AH LiFePo4 batteries, as soon as i get the fourth battery i will be upgrading to 48v. Greetings from Jamaica.
Awe yeah, sounds like a plan! I love it down there, been a few times. cheers!
48V kills the capacity While 12v has 4 times the capacity It's a one time cost Soo i'd rather stick to the 12V with the Huge cap instead of cheaping out on the wires and having the 1/4th of the cap + The 12v u can charge directly from ur car/truck/solar pannels
I'm not sure what you mean, whatever you are powering eats WATTS. And, a 12v 400ah battery has the same amount of watt hours (the amount of hours you can run 1 watt) as a 48v 100ah battery bank.. The formula is: Volts * Amp Hours = Watt hours. 48v will store and power devices more efficiently.. That why any system over say, 2000w would be better to go 48v, over 12v. There is no question.. that's why almost every large home solar battery bank runs at 48v. Check out some Will Prowse for more details!
@@TackleThat what do u mean by more efficiently ?
It depends on your needs - not only on 12 /24 /48v I have a solar system on my balcony only....so no need for 48v...I have 20kwh battery (diy from 105Ah cells made up) and I can run all on my flat with an 3000w Inverter. Sure the bigger wires from the battery to the Inverter. But this is a soon short amount of length you need...
awe yeah, nice setup !!
Higher voltage input means lower input current needed to put out the same wattage from the inverter, therefore the input wires, contacts, and switches if any, can be safely smaller and less expensive.
You got it!
And all you need is a cheap Chinese converter to get all the 12v you want out of 48v. It’s extremely easy and efficient to step down 48v to 12v.
Right on!
And u think a 72v would fit in like a am6 50cc moped? Or anywhere where I can check dimensions for the battery
Im sure, 20ah is pretty small.. check out amorgepower.com for dimensions
@@TackleThat thanks!
@@TackleThat ooo don’t know about that one still need to fit a motor thanks tho! Ima try to figure smth out bc I still want a big boi battery 😂😂
Quick question do these guys have warranty?
Yep, 1 year!
@@TackleThat wow not expected for a Chinese company! And I trust ur review will be checking them out thanks! (:
Sick bro!
Thanks 👍
