It would not be possible to keep the paper patterns flat if you choose to close the dart and do nothing else. If your skirt style is a flared skirt, then you can use slash and spread line that starts from the hem to the tip of the dart. When the dart is closed, the paper pattern will open up with more fullness at the hem and the paper pattern will be able to stay flat. Hope this helps :)

Yes B refers to bust. Yes B divides by 20 and then add 2.9. But I am not sure what you mean times three ..?

If my bust is 76cm at point 13 , 76 divide by 20 + 2.9 = 6.7cm so my A is 6.7cm? Then will it be too high for point 13-14? And for other parts?

@@Evsstudio you can use bust 84cm to calculate the neck area.

The answer from B/20+2.9cm needs to be divided by 3 later on for the drafting of the neck.

It's all purpose pattern making ruler. I am not sure if there is an official name :)

Hello! Are you referring to how the thread is wound around the tension knob? The way shown in video is based on the Brother manual instructions. I think a straight wound would have worked too.

Hello! I would definitely recommend a test drive if your nearest store is convenient for you and have both machines. Sometimes the feel of the machine might be more important than the features etc. It's like buying a car almost :)

Stitch Type 24 is a decorative hem stitch. By Brother's recommendation, the stitch width setting is 3 - 5, and the stitch length is SS.

You can replace the needle. The machine comes with a pack of spare needles and a screwdriver. You would need to un-screw the nut for the needle, remove the broken needle and replace with a new one. The stem of needle has a flat edge, which should be at the back when slotting the new needle into position.

Hi Charlie, the machine does have overedge stitching which you could use to finish edges.

Hi Rev N, thanks for watching my channel! The length of the rectangle is Bust + 8cm ease. This pattern assumes there is implicit ease in the waist to create 2 waist darts of 3cm each. However, it is prudent to check that [Waist + 2 x (3cm dart)] is indeed less than [Bust + 8cm ease] , otherwise you will end up having a smaller waist than your body measurement. If this happens, you should adjust and reduce the waist dart value. Hope this helps! :)
