These bags are heavy, around 9 lbs
That’s actually not too heavy
Great Video! My wife and I are expecting baby number 4 soon and my goal is to be working as a CFI shortly. Your advice is going to help me and my wife make the decisions that we need to so thank you very much!
Congrats on #4! And keep up the grind!
Wow you think a lot.
As long as I’m not overthinking
How do pilots test for color blindness ? I mean what test did you take in the medical examination from your experience
Go tem em king!
You're a yapper. This is a work bag, not an entertainment unit.
Not sure what that means but thanks for the comment!
I’m going through exactly this right now. Every flight I’m miserable coz of the situation at home. Just waiting to land so that I can call home. I love flying, I love every bit of it. This is my 16th year in commercial aviation but I feel like quitting,Because of the family circumstances right now. And yes stress has been affecting my performance in the aircraft as well. Stupid FDM exceedances, missing up on paperwork, things like that. Hopefully I’ll find a balance before I do so, and make a sensible decision. This video popping up on my feed feels like a good sign. Thanks Dan.
Hopefully it’s a sign in the right direction.
My cousin is an F.O. flying Airbuses for a low-cost carrier. He has multiple kids and a wife who is a nurse. He recently visited (he was on a solo vacation to the beach). He's got the passion, but I think there are a lot of life variables going on. His late father was a captain for UPS who was married several times. I think they both may/might have fallen a bit near the middle of your graph.
The multiple life variables definitely makes this a challenge, but if you can grind through it, you can make it work
@@DanPKing16 Certainly.
Well said, Dan. Best to you and the fam going forward!
Thanks Mark!
Great advice
Aviation is not a career is a lifestyle 🙏
A 14 lbs roller bag is appropriate for airlines crew who needs its durability for daily use, but for ordinary travelers who travels like once every 2 months or less, it's way too heavy. My TravelPro was around 5 lb weight and lasted 15 years, though I travel much less frequently.
Thank you for mentioning books.
Beautiful video beautiful family Dan! In have the eye of a cinematographer - what are doing flying for a living?? All the best - Grant
Got to finance the real passion somehow! Great to hear from you Brotha!
Honestly this is the same conclusion I'm coming to. I love flying, but I also would like to have a life with family outside of work. Whats the sense in making FU money if you can't spend that money and time with the family. I'm currently looking for something that can crack 120k a year flying with upward earning potential and doesn't have half of my remaining adult life living out of a hotel (being away from home 10-15 days a month).
To my knowledge, this is the first youtube comment I have ever left. You deserve it. I'm a fellow believer, a regional 121 FO, and a dad to young kids like you. Also a fellow Georgian. Your insight and story is super encouraging to me, and i'm sure to countless others. Keep it up brother!
That’s awesome Ben! Thanks for the comment. Always encouraging to hear from guys like you.
Thank you for this video King.
He have the balls
It is a Young persons Business.
LOL, my neighbor about a year ago finally left net Jets and got hired by SWA. To hear him talk about it Nets Jets was a miserable place to work.
Ehh, it’s perspective. I really enjoyed it. I believe “miserable” is a bit extreme. If he thinks it’s miserable, he’s probably not happy anywhere.
Well done.
Glad to see you're back at the videos Dan--little did I know I would be sitting in class next to a legend! Seriously though, you got skills man, keep up the good work! - Roy
Roy!!! Thanks man. Means a lot coming from you!
Holy Moly, your chart is my chart. It’s exactly the same.
I’ve spent enough money on training to buy a house and I’ve NEVER been paid more than minimum wage for flying. NEVER! I’d fly till I was broke and go back to fixing airplanes and then do it again. I’ve never once felt like a real pilot. 100% total imposter. I’m 56 years old and I’ve worn out my hands. I physically can’t do 12 hour shifts pulling wrenches. However, my hands are good enough for flying so I’m getting qualified again. I just passed the ifr written (doing my multi ifr ride next month) and giving one last kick at the can. Enough piffle chit chat, Zen budda meditation crap, I’m going for a ride in the woods and getting back to work. I’ll start feeling like a real pilot when I get a real pay cheque. Or maybe not. BTW, love your videos.
Which charger are you using? The link didn’t work. I’ve got the same electronics as you, less the cameras. BTW, I’m an aircraft mechanic/pilot with 1100 hrs, seaplane, helicopter, CFI. Almost ready for the multi/ifr ride. I think I’m going to like this white collar flying thing.
How long of a commute from your base would you consider living in base? Really enjoy your videos by the way! I'm a 34 year old working toward my PPL (currently at approx. 35hrs) and possibly a career change to aviation. The commuting is one of the few things that makes me worry. I'm in Orange County, CA so LAX would probably be the closest airport where airlines have bases.
Are you talking about how far I’m willing to drive?
@@DanPKing16 Yes. How far of a drive would you still consider living in base?
2-3 hrs is my minimum because most companies have a 2-3 hr callout on reserve
@@DanPKing16 Makes sense! Thank you.
Current fractional pilot here…gotta know. Is the grass greener flying for one of the big three? I would love to see a video with your take on the subject. Great job as always, love your videos!
That’s a good topic to discuss. I’ll add that to the list of possible videos.
I look forward to it!
so besicaly, family
i suggest this guy get a job at net jets, they pay a first officer 150k per year
This is a joke right?
ur nuts, net jets sux the big one
Awesome video! I subbed. Back in the early 2000s I was an ATL-based F/A for ASA (Delta Connection). Reserve for 3yrs was ruthless. 1hr call out. This seems so much better
Thanks for subscribing! And yes, this is a good deal now.
great content. glad i found your page. Hoping to fly for Delta in the near future. (about to start flight training in January)
Awesome man! Keep grinding!
I really look forward to your videos brother. I’m really proud of you man. You’re killing it
Thanks Brother! Know you had a hand in all this. I owe a lot of you guys more than you know.
Nice hat
You talking about the gray one? I like it as well. Got it off Amazon.
Really cool angles throughout the whole video!
I appreciate that!
Great video !
Thanks!
It's interesting how you have to break that regional connection to get to the major you want.
Solid one as usual my man! Keep rocking
Thanks a lot as per usual!
Really like the editing style. Great video.
Loved the video, really motivating.
so you quit and came back ?!
Yeah, I guess you haven’t been watching the videos until the end
Not a pilot or have any intentions to be, still watched the whole vid. Found it interesting, great job on your vids Dan.
Thanks for the comment!
I also lived a few years as a commuting, when I moved to the base, it literally seemed that I had changed jobs, excellent videos, greetings from Brazil!
Thanks for the comment! It definitely makes a difference to commute and then see life not commuting. So much nicer.
Wait a second… I thought you were a Netjets pilot?! What a roller coaster. Also, always bring flip flops. Congrats on the new job dude. Great video.
It happened fast brother! I’m a big fan of Chacos and have been for about 18 years now. My dad told me once in reference to wearing flip flops, “what if there’s a fire and you have to get out of a building? Do you want to be wearing flip flops?” Ever since then, I’ve been a Chaco guy.
@@DanPKing16understandable! Flip flops/ sandals whatever. Something other than shoes. I’ve been on a heydude kick.
hey dan id love a part 2!
Working on it!
Hey, we’re did you get that sweater from?
Not sure . My wife bought it for me. Maybe Gap or Old Navy?
what about the strongbag vortex 23?
Don’t know much about them. They seem to be very similar to the Luggage Works bags.
I flew with you to CLE. I’m a fan of your videos. Got a question for you regarding a fellow FA that left our company for one of your former companies. Can I email you?
Sure!
Congrats on the new Mainline job! Great visual representation of what I hold to be the same non-negotiables, looking forward to Pt.2
Thanks!
Nothing worse than a disgruntled airline pilot 😂
$$$$$$😀
Totally an understandable and viable non-negotiable!
