Out of all the cylinder configurations of the Detroit engines, the 6V sounds the best! The 8V is nice but sounds a bit more restrained, the 3 and 4 cylinder motors have very raspy exhaust notes, the 12 and 16V are on the smooth end of the sound scale but all unique in their own right.

That power steering box is certainly going to make this truck easier to drive, paint looks great too!

Looks very close in colour to the original 53 series, I am a little more anal and would probably have brush painted it with enamel paint to avoid the overspray look if it was my engine, brush painting turns up really well but is much more time consuming. Turned out well though looks awesome! Cheers from the Mornington Peninsula 👍

After some decades, the braided airlines get corrosion in them, get very stiff and break. lots of work, but very worth it. Doubt Kenworth will ever make trucks as good as they were from the 1970's to the late 1980's.

I used to herd an OLD R-35 with a 2-cycle 12-V 71 Detriot/GM, a 6-speed Allison automatic and a retarder. NO brakes. Hauled a lot of stuff from settling ponds at the crusher and from the shovel. They had 40 ton Terex trucks with Cummins and electric shift Allisons. The old truck was MUCH better..

Mount it on that old IH track loader. Throw the IH engine out and put in a hyd motor. I made one works ok. Just keep moving along when it fills up underneath.

In fitzory crossing I arive on a site. With the same old ford. Duct tape the water hose. 1 km to the tip. Concrete yard in derby wa. Then owner say drive to fitzory crossing. 300km away. In 45dc temp. I beg. Put low loader. No in tow ute and trailer. Water oil fuel. Front window rusted out. What killed it no dash . And intera hot water vale failed. All the water ran away. And i cracked the heads. Reales bracks. Pull axle. Hard line connection. Tow 250 km to fitzory crossing. Old ford will not tie if not for humans hehe.

Hi Jake @dieseldownunder , that Komatsu excavator that has the blow by look up COST EFFECTIVE MAINTENANCE truckies blow by treatment, you will thank me later i swear by this stuff and it has saved many a rebuild on multiple vehicles . Yet again another cool video thanx for the quality.

Nice, there were some gems in that yard. But when an engine hasn’t ran for years is it wise to start and rev it straight away? Especially not knowing what the cylinders look like, or if it’s about to suck a heap,of crap or water in?

The Grove crane is a 471 you can tell by the rocker cover bolts are around the outside 71 series has the bolts from the top so did the 92 series I would love to see one of those 16 V 71 in a truck that would be awesome. They Sounds so good. 😊That Louis with the 3208 that's a good find
