Kei truck windows screeching? Could be this easy to fix it...and only $30
zhlédnutí 399Před rokem
If you've got a kei truck or van, it's at least 25 years old, and old cars need some love. The window felts tend to dry out and in my case, fall out, so a quick rubber window track replacement may be in order. It stopped the hair raising screech and they roll up and down much smoother now. This was done on a 1993 Daihatsu Hijet Deck Van S83W, other trucks will vary, measure your window track fi...
Upgrading Subaru Sambar Brake Booster & Master w/ Geo Tracker parts
zhlédnutí 319Před rokem
The brakes were failing in my Sambar van which presented the opportunity to stuff larger, domestically sourced parts in it. A Geo Tracker brake booster was one of the smallest I could think of. With some grinding and welding I got it to fit. It wasn't easy but now the pedal feel is good, stops on a dime and costs less than JDM replacement parts. I used the booster and master cylinder from a 199...

Front strut replacement procedure on a 1994 Daihatsu Hijet (S110P) Kei truck. Should be identical on S83P Hijets and very similar to other makes of kei truck/van. Hope it helps. Source for the struts: www.grimports.com/
Daihatsu Hijet sub box build, now with more detail!

A subscriber asked if I could build him a sub box like mine, so I did, and this time I took measurements so you could build one too. Some cutting of dash and air box required... Box is to spec for a 6.5" dvc Sundown Audio subwoofer. Tuned to 40hz with an internal air volume of about 0.35 cubic feet. Music Credits: On the Forbes - D. Installing Air Ride on the Kei Van, because why not?

So I had an air ride system from Airlift Performance laying around and nothing to put it into it, until I glanced over at the Subaru Sambar Classic and thought hey, that wheel gap is way too big. Heh. Also, I've never seen a kei truck or van on air, and I like obscure car stuff. Maybe in the future I'll get it lower than stock bump stop height. Music Credits: Bipolar - D. Make your 7ft garage door opener work on an 8ft door, save some money
zhlédnutí 4,9KPřed rokem
So you've got an 8ft garage door but the openers they sell are meant for 7ft doors by default, what do you do? Fork over more cash for an extension kit and just throw away a section of rail and the whole chain/belt....ORRR you can take some measurements, extend the header bracket, modify the stops, save your money and be less wasteful. This probably voids your warranty and I take no responsibil...

No idea why, but at full volume on my laptop you were almost inaudible. I've never had the same problem on any other CZcams video. I gave up trying to hear, got tired of watching the CC box, and clicked out.
Are you guys in Milford, CT? I live off of New Haven Ave. I'm looking to buy a Kei truck soon.
nice. nice to be able to do your own shit instead of bringing elsewhere, pain in the ass. nice setup
It looks real nice I want to do something like this but make just spare gas
Lol just checked out your store . Awesome selection . Might buy the coil connector rebuild kit . Mine all broke but it hasn't given me any problems yet with misfires .
Gloomy, overcast... New England? I am looking at Sambars but I cant get a straight answer if they're legal in my state [VT]. Don;t even know if I can fit in one either! LOL
Yup! I'm not sure about legality, but Sambar is your best bet for leg room in my opinion.
No heat gun? Set it out on a hot sunny day on some pavement, it'll soften right up. I wish I could find an old janky KEI truck like this to play with. They are getting stupid prices for them post COVID.
I ordered a Subaru Sambar 1998 from Japan which will arrive in August. I am so excited I can’t wait. I love what you have done with yours. I just subscribed to you. Thanks for posting this.
"I'll give it to you for a reasonable price...maybe" 😂😂
good job!👍
What are the details on your impact? I can see it’s 24v. Brand or model number please. 🙏🏽
It's a Kobalt 24v 1/2" drive. Works pretty good, went with that because I already had the batteries for their 24v miter saw.
Can you share where you got the shift knob from?
Amazon find, came with a few different adapters for the thread pitch and just screws right on.
Nice job dude. Teally line the plasti dip bumper and DIY bedliner. A definite woll do myself👍

Good job and good idea bro
Do you recall which wires were power and which were for the turn signal, by chance?
I don't follow, where are these wires you're referring to? This video was adding speakers to the doors, there were 0 wires in there originally.
Yeah, I realize this isn’t necessarily related to the theme of your video. But, I was just wondering, with all the work you did, if you knew which wires under the dash were for the turn signals. Finding a wiring schematic for the Hijet has been impossible for me so far.
By the way I had a pro install mine and he did use the extension kit for my 8’ door. However, being an engineer I noticed on the 7’ door the whole track is not being used. How far would the 8’ door open without doing anything? Is it possible that it would open a 7’6” door fully without doing anything? When you increase the header, do you need to do anything to the track, etc.? Is there a reason you need to open the door fully? When I had my tract home built 20 years ago, this was a reasonable option (3 car garage, both doors were about $300 extra), so I opted for this. The only time this is used is when you have a larger/higher truck, or when you put on a car top carrier for storage for a vacation. You can open this carrier in the garage, fill it and close it and then can safely ride out in the morning. This works with the carrier we have. This was on a 2012 Honda Odyssey. PS: I actually bought the same door opener for a rental condo I own and noticed the extra track length. I ran into a different problem, the door opener was too long, I ran into a You Tube video showing how to decrease the length. I did a different workaround, I had an “I” beam in the way. The “I” beam was covered by a drywall box, which I cut into and recessed the opener into the box and that worked. The opener was 2” too long, but when done there was still 3” to the beam.
That's the funny thing, the tracks are long enough for an 8' door but the factory stops on the opener bars are the limiting factor. So no, I didn't have to do anything to the tracks. And yea the only reason I tried to maximize the opening height is because I had a ladder rack on top of my truck at the time. As far as how high it would open without modification, you would have to install it to a point where you can test or measure where the lift arm rests closed up to the stopper at the full open position. Theoretically it would open the distance between the physical stops if you can install it in a way to take advantage of the full travel. Too many variables to say with certainty.
I love Toyota's simplicity, and durability!
Would love some of the 3D printed bumper clips. Do you have a business email I can contact you at?
I have been meaning to repair my 3d printer so I can offer these clips to everyone asking. I'm working on it, keep an eye out, I will post a vid/short when I get to making them.
After all that, we didn’t even get to see it even sitting on the new wheels!!!!! 😖
Nice! I don't know if I missed it but what did you do about the cat temp sensor?
I zip tied the wire up out of the way and just pulled that bulb out of the dash, it doesn't affect anything else.
Like what you have done! Interested in the 3D printed bumper pieces if yer making them and selling them. Like the content as well.
Thanks! I haven't been printing them, but if theres a demand I guess I'll order some filament and print some up. I'll post an update when I do.
Thanks man!@@GreeceMonkeyz
Trying to figure out where to run the speaker cables through to the car. I see the grommets, but can’t find them inside the hijet. Any help with finding them once passed through?
Which ones are we talking about exactly? In the front from underneath? or in the door jamb?
Thanks only place I can find one is wiruswin but do t ship to USA
Did the intake help power any at all ?
Not noticably. Maybe throttle response as it is much less restrictive. Mostly just makes your ears happy when you can hear induction noises. Alost losing a few pounds of intake tubing didn't hurt.
Does it back fire when you let off? Thank for sharing 😊
It sure does. I recorded it at night and it shoots flames about 2 inches long lol
Hell yeah! Can’t wait to try this
What white paint did you use? :)
I used two different white automotive touch up cans in alternating coats to get a closer color match. I think they were arctic white and stone white. 30 years of sun fade is not easy to match.
Nice. I’m going to do the same. $50 for an extension kit is ridiculous.
Currently building a hijet myself what lug pattern are the wheels you purchased. Im having a issue finding wheels
Hijets have a funky bolt pattern of 4x110, here in the states you will mostly find ATV/UTV wheels with that pattern. My wheels are 4x108 and I'm using misalignment lug nuts which allow for 1mm play in either direction giving me 110mm. Definitely not ideal, but with the right hub centric ring I don't have any problems with vibration even on the highway. Might be easier to get adapters made and just use wheels with more positive offset.
Τι μαιμουδες ειναι αυτες;
Did you install the final bead dry? Lube the duck bill too. There are plastic drop center devices that hold the bead opposite the duck bill down and make install easier also. What is your plan on balancing the tires afterwards?
I've seen those clamps, I need to get one. I used the Harbor Freight balancer to get them close, which for my application was enough, they're going on a kei truck that does 60 mph max. No vibrations at that speed so far.
The clamps do help. I use 2 for removal and 1 for installing Good luck with the HF balancer. A good test after initial balance is to lift the wheel , turn it 90° and put it back on the balancer. If it's still balanced, you are good to go. @@GreeceMonkeyz
Simple and effective. Great idea
That wine room is beautiful!!
Thanks!
Are those rims “handed”. ? The rotation of the spokes are different in the front
No they're not, so left side looks different than the right.
What geat ratio do you have and what motor?
It's the 125cc motor that was in the dirtbike I chopped up. It's a 4 speed too, so I don't know what those gear ratios are but the sprockets were a 12 and 60 tooth I think. I since changed up the sprockets on the jack-shaft to get more top end since torque doesn't matter much with sleeves on the tires.
@@GreeceMonkeyz cool, my drift trike has a 110cc 4 speed and I had a 13 tooth front and 38 back sprocket, top speed was about 30mph now I have 19 tooth front sprocket and 25 tooth back sprocket and the top speed it around 60mph and in the first gear it got sill plenty of torque. Whats the new gear ratio you're using and what's your top speed?
@@GreeceMonkeyz if you check Colin furze drift trike he uses a 1 to 1 ratio that means the same front and rear sprocket.
@simongarcia2763 I'm really not sure what the top speed is, probably too fast for comfort. It doesn't really stop all that well as I'm sure you know. I went with a 9 tooth on the drive side of the jack shaft and the 14 on the other end. Too lazy to math out the final ratio. Probably won't move without the sleeves on it 😅
@@GreeceMonkeyz thanks, but what would me an estimate of the top speed?
Thanks. That's a great idea.
I made mine like 4 years ago and upgraded . much more sturdier. Easy to to use. Use it all the time

@@GreeceMonkeyz OEM? Or aftermarket lmao sorry I had to ask because I couldn’t tell if you were being sarcastic
@randomuser23277 heh. I don't know if its oem, I got it on the truck like that from Japan, didn't check if it had a subaru part number on it and I've since sold it.
Here's a wheelie bar and flame thrower I put on my minibike czcams.com/video/o_wpCGZhmCg/video.html
Cheaper and stronger ones are available on eBay lol.
Definitely scoop one up if its cheaper than buying the parts seperately, that's a hell of a deal.
Where did you get that exhaust to buy
Amazon, generic motorcycle slip on muffler, but I had to do some fabrication for the rest of the pipe.
Beautiful work 🏍️🇨🇦
What did you do about those two pipes before the cat and what about the cat? I have the same Hijet exhaust has holes rusted through trying to figure out what to do.
I no longer have any of the stock piping, those holes are air pre-heaters to help warm the engine up faster, they don't enter the exhaust stream, just go around it. Sorry for the late reply!
Thank you for making this.
Nice tire changer modification. Did the U bolts hold the duck head drop pipe tight and in position while peeling the tire off the rim? thanks for posting
They really aren't seeing much force as the pry bar does all the work down low and the duck head its sliding along the rim which keeps it in place too. But yes they've been holding just fine!
Size speakers
6.5" Sundown Audio subwoofer and 6.5" Kenwood Component door speakers (needed some trimming to fit in the door)
Verrry spicy. What wheel size and tire size?
They were 16x7 +35 wrapped in 195/45R16 tires. With 15mm spacers and I think removed mudflaps, they dont rub.
Excellent duck head design... I've been wondering how I could avoid paying over $300 for the one commercially available, I forget who sells it, but it's way overpriced... this will fit the bill just fine! 🖖🏿😎👍🏿
😂😂😂 you are right me too trying to get over those 300 dollars
Love your projects and videos. Can I ask what bags you used ? I’m hoping to bag my Carry this winter. Thanks
I threw together the system from donated parts, so the front bags are from the Air Lift Performance kit that I aquired from my cousin, meant for the rears in a VW GTI and the rears I ordered off amazon, generic maXpeedingrods 110mm stroke bags. It's not perfect, I plan to redo most of it now that I'm doing other things to the van. Videos on that soon.
